Mutemath uses this pedal as there main delay sound and it sounds freaking fantastic! The oscillation on this pedal is actually very musical! If you want to know what I'm talking about, watch their song "Break the Same" live on Conan. It's incredible
I've owned a DOD Rubberneck, CB Tonal Recall, Boss DM2, Catalinbread Belle Epoch and Echorec, EQD Avalanche Run, EHX Memory Boy and Memory Toy, plus a couple of others... and the Echo mode of my DE7 is still my fave delay sound. It just wins.
Another great demo, man. Like the DM-2, the DE-7 pedal will self-oscillate(blow up)! You can make your guitar sound like a spaceship landing. It has an independent volume. So, you can turn it down while it goes crazy! Very COOL!
I wish they would reissue this pedal in a sturdy box like bosses really great one! would prefer it over boss any day I found one used and am buying it! this could become a classic
love this one so much, I have two on my board. I like the early models best. made in Taiwan. They have a slightly different circuit. Repeats are grittier in echo mode. This pedal will be a classic one day.
@@ImpostorModanica Early models are made in Taiwan while later units are made in China. The differences is just a diode but it really don’t matter much in the grand scheme of things and both are identical.
Superb pedal. For a basic echo/delay under $100 you can't go wrong. I just love mine. The DE-7 can do what the DM-2 does better! Not as warm, but much more versatile. I own both.
Just bought one on eBay for $40! I had one years ago. I missed having it! I have a DL4. But that takes too much space on my board. Iota like having two pedals.
No doubt this is the best delay pedal ever made, so old and still beats tc flashback and any other fake multi delays like sky . Ibanez d7 wins forever and the tone talks it self
I use it all the time on my Minibrute and it sounds wonderful!! Of all my delay fx boxes this one works the best with synths. It has no problem taking hotter signals.
Any delay is good for reggae just depends on your preference,I like the mxr, but the tc electronic flashback gives you more options, others id recommend hotone delay(green one),donner yellow fall, digetech delay, and the aroma delay probably the cheapest but it has some great repeats
it depends on what you are after this one has a delay of 2.5 sec! plus echo and oscillation boss is just an analog as far as I know - no more than 300 ms another alternative is vox doubledecker (up to 1 sec analog) - good one! I bought meself DE7 for versatility!
It's a good pedal, but imho, almost any delay pedal, digital or analog that's more than $100.00 is over priced. Delay is just what is says it is,,,a delay. They are super easy to build and modify. Adding echo isn't adding at all, because every delay pedal ever built has a natural echo designed into it. If you want a combination delay and loop then we can talk about spending more money. But quite honestly, you're better off buying a cheap danelectro delay pedal (which sound very good btw) for $30.00 and then spend another 30 or 40 for mods, and you'll have a delay pedal that will sound better than anything you're spending for the ridiculous prices of $200 or more. People who spend that kind of money on delay pedals honestly are getting taken to the cleaners.
I've been chexing all the new delays/echoes out and I couldn't help but think it. That old, first series Dano pedal I have laying around is probably better sounding than some of these $200+ guys. Great pedal
Still my favourite delay pedal ever.

My buddy gave me one of these about 13 years ago. I still have it and it work great.
Beginning bit sounds like the Edge from U2, no doubt this was the idea! Great sound, digital delay has been overlooked for years!

I had a DD-5, DL-4 and a DE-7. The DE-7 was the cheapest and my favorite, the echo is nice and warm, even if a little digital sounding.

I've had this pedal for 3 years I think. I've used it pretty heavily and it still works, great delay pedal for a little cash. I love it
It does not work anymore?
I think I'm in love of the sound for the delay...
the echo setting is amazing
Brilliant demo of this, makes me want it!
I wish they would reissue this pedal in a sturdy box like bosses

this could become a classic
I just bought one used from ebay. It is really fun to use. I love it
Have some expensive delay pedals but this just works. Simple and sounds great.

How can you tell the difference between early and later?

Very groovy sounds man!!!!

How is this pedal for synths? A mini brute specifically.
I use it all the time on my Minibrute and it sounds wonderful!! Of all my delay fx boxes this one works the best with synths. It has no problem taking hotter signals.
I sold it and I get it again
Is this pedal good for Reggae?
+aertru We use this delay sometimes. We also use the TC Electronics flashback delay. We are a Texas Reggae Band.

@@SunTeleLeo He asked for the waza version, which has an extra mode with longer delay.
that piece at 0:47 sounds like the intro from one song by great Polish 70/80's band Perfect :) grooveshark.com/s/Niewiele+Ci+Moge+Dac/57jFgx?src=5

Gotta agree with you Fizz. Its crazy what people pay for delay pedals.
Thanks!
One of the better comments on delays I have seen in a while!
