This isn’t country music. This is bluegrass. Also, when O’Susanna was written in 1848 it was actually a Polkka. Steven Foster was from the city where I was born and raised and I’m a bluegrass banjoist.

The singer avoided some verses which would be racists today...the original songwriter Stephen Foster mentioned on it,circa 1845, an accident of a steam boat down the Mississipe River which exploded n killed about 50 slaves being taken somewhere....
