He's like the Batman of drums. All you have to do is shine a light in the sky with crossed drum sticks and he'll be there in a few with a kit on his back and a huge smile.
Imagine being in awe just walking into that room with all those amazing synths & keyboards. Then your jaw drops when they actually start playing. And the fact that they play In A Silent Way completely floors you!
Sir Wojenheim the third Joe Zawinul wrote this and Miles picked it up for his album which Joe also played on.The tune is about his days as a shepherd boy in his native Austria. The original is on ‘Zawinul’ , his first solo album. This is great.
Some people may overlook this Tote-A-Tune as a toy but it’s quite the opposite.. it’s in fact a slimy stench ridden melody maker for sweet stanky funk! I’m in a funk and dub group but my band is lacking some stench...it just does not turn your nose quite yet.... I need the stench, I need the stank, I need the gloop. I need this tote-a-tune to add some sweet stanky seasoning to my funk and reggae groups! Please custom vintage keys help me stink the good stank with a gnarly tote-a-tune circuit break..
Danny Carey’s crossticking in the beginning reminded me of Dave Weckl. If you like this keyboard sound, then listen to Jason Lindner Now vs Now. Mark Guiliana is another fantastic drummer on some of those records.
If I were to receive this magical machine, not only would it be used to write and record music of my own but would be shared with my father who grew up playing keys in his own band. Went to school to study electrical engineering to build synthesizers but got caught up in the money of the automotive industry. Now he has been getting back into playing and recording with his original Guild Stage Organ and newer Yamaha Reface CP. This keyboard would add a unique new sound to someone who is breaking back into the music scene that he had left for corporate America. That’s rock and roll! Thank you for the consideration.
The Tote-A-Tune is an essential building block in cultivating both genre-defining and genre-defying sound that will someday soon be remembered as a musical revolution pioneered by the amorphous music supergroup/collective known only as "RYAN". Why is it called this you might ask? To fully grasp the inspiration behind RYAN one must put themselves in the mind of someone mad enough to think that it would be a good idea to give the lead part to a modified toy keyboard backed by a 100 piece symphony orchestra and pull it off. It's just crazy enough to work perfectly. A beautiful, harmonious blend of musical textures and flavors that ought never be put together, masterfully arranged in such a way that breaks down the walls of conventional music standards in ways only RYAN could accomplish. Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.
He is. He's a major rock star, by some standards, but doesn't seem to know it or care - play good music for him, and he turns into a babbling fan. I saw this firsthand at a little music venue in Portland, OR, where he was playing some multi-band show, and started hollering at me about how great another one of the bands on the bill was.

This is my fav CV vid !! Ripping jams and that’s is why I need the tote a tune so my band can rip some funk jams, we gotta Hammond b3, Rhodes, and jaguar but we need a tote a tune to blast some clav vibe funk in the faces of the people. The people need the funk
You guys turned that beautiful vintage entry level keyboard into a badass versatile preset synth, and who couldn’t want that, and therefore I need that tote a tone to fill out the bass and leads with my Wurlitzer electrostatic organ.
I can finally finish my 80s sci fi rom-com, "More Than Just a Robot", once I get my hands on one of these. I needed something to create his voice. If You give it to me, I'll give the whole staff at CVKs free tickets to the premier AND one romantic, candle lit dinner with Cyd the Robot. He's quite the charmer. Please and thank you
Ever since seeing the tote-a-tune pop on the CV keys insta Ive been trawling the second hand market to find one to hack one myself. The perfect fun sized machine to unleash the brown note in my bands live setup. Love from New Zealand

Hello Custom Vintage! I've been following your work for about a year now and from the moment I saw the first post about this cool contraption on your instagram I literally said to myself, "I wish I could have one of those." I am currently studying music composition at Cal Lutheran University, and have recently fallen in love with synths and keyboards, however do not have the funds to make it happen. Winning this once in a lifetime instrument would be incredible for my creativity and music. I would love this baby forever!!
Custom Vintage Key...I’ve been following your work for quite a while now, and I must say that I’m always inspired by your music and am astounded at the impressive restoration projects you guys have accomplished!!! When I saw your IG post for this giveaway, I immediately knew I had to at least try to win the Tote-a-Tune. It would be a perfect addition to further my musical experimentation and create sonic richness!! So please, if you would choose me, I would put the tote-a-tune to great use!!!! I won’t let you guys down!!!!
I would love a tote-a-tune because a) it is the raddest looking and sounding little keyboard, b) it would serve as a replacement for my old broken synth. I would use this in my synth punk band as sort of a bass synth to give an aggressive edge
I am from Los Angeles. Currently working on my upcoming EP. If I were to get the Tote-A-Tune I would most def try to incorporate this sound into my project. Even though it looks like a toy it produces such a unique warm vivid sound.
I’m always looking for new and exciting ways to upset my downstairs neighbors while making my next door neighbor jealous and I feel like this tote-a-tune would do the trick. Additionally I think it would sufficiently confuse my cat to the point of adorable wonder.
chance smith Thanks for watching! It’s a labor of love, but we hope to shine a spotlight on the world of vintage keyboards and share it with everyone. Good for you and your daughter.

I have recently become obsessed with vintage analog keyboard sounds, and this seems to be quite the instrument to explore. I would be so interested to see what kinds of sounds I could get out of it.
In a world of increasingly similar "in the box" sounds, Im always looking for a physical product that combines the new and old, that will turn heads and ask "what the heck was that?" This GE Tote a Tune is absolutely that product, something that would make my studio, my recordings, and live performances that much more interesting. CV Keys is keeping the unique and the analog alive, giving players alternatives to the world of samples and MIDI. I love the products you restore and the ones you modify. I would be honored to have this bad boy! I follow you on instagram at tommychampionmusic Thanks!!!
I've been following Custome Vintage Keys for a while now, and I'm really excited to see that they're giving away a Tote-a-Tone. I would love to win this instrument for a more analog and original sound. While I enjoy emulations and recreations, this sound is one of a kind and I would love to have it in my arsenal of sounds
The tote a tune would be an amazing fit my family of musical instruments ranging from the Roland AX edge, to an electric cello, to an electric SG ukulele! I didn't know Danny could play 4/4.
did you see his face? he was in obvious pain...
Chris Adams-Easkold I thought the same thing. Not only 4/4, but there’s a complete lack of any sort of polyrhythm.
Haha. Well stinkfist, as well as a few other tool songs, are just normal 4/4 tunes
Oh yes he can. He is also THE MAN when it comes to jazz drums!!!
Rob Hoyt
Jazz fusion ..
4:44 that face when you're trying really hard to resist playing a 12 over 19-and-a-half polyrhythm

I love it. What musical sensibilities this guy has. I love Miles AND TOOL. Strange combo but both very advanced
prog and jazz is not a strange combo lol. danny carey has expressed his love of Billy Cobham and talked about his influence tons.
As I listened I heard Lonnie Liston Smith, Ahmed Jamal, Les McCann, Weather Report, Brian Auger, Steve Winwood
I think Danny is the best drummer I have ever heard play... This was great and the keyboard players are truly masters of the craft...
Hes definitely in my top 3 with Neil pert and Jonathan sugarfoot mofett
dude never even took his jacket off
How many people here think that this is a jam and not a classic jazz fusion composition by Miles Davis. These are Danny’s roots. This is home for him.

@@MacMic333 Technically, it's by Miles and Joe. Miles wrote "It's About That Time" and bookended it with Joe's "In a Silent Way."

@@mr.beaverchair3622 Yeah, but this has Joe's signature sound written all over it, though. I close my eyes and I hear Weather Report.

Just brilliant. Real musicians making use of real vintage equipment.
Great Piece by Davis and austrian keyboarder and Genius Joe Zawinul played by really cool guyz 😻🔥
I was really wishing out of nowhere Danny just busts out some “Ticks And Leeches” style drumming..🤘🏻🤘🏻
