As a drummer myself, it actually helps a lot to see that even the greatest drummers out there have those minor mistakes live when they are not playing their own songs, either because they are a bit nervous or because they did not have enough time to practice with the band, or both.

At 2:22 there's an almost unperceptible one, he started playing another part on the hit-hat, but very quickly realized and changed to the ride for the correct part the band was playing. And then at 4:01 again when he was going back to the "chorus", but it wasn't time yet. For me it makes the performance that much better, because it shows that even when he makes a mistake his mind is so damn quick to fix it that almost nobody could ever notice (only us fellow drummers/crazy fans who keep close watch to his every move 😅)

Gotta be hard for Geddy to do this - no offence to Danny, the guy's a genius, and he did start to get the groove as the song went on, but you can tell from Ged's expression that the feel, especially at the start, was more or less Tool doing Rush, hell, you could FEEL that it was Tool doing Rush, but doing Rush well, but still, it did take a while into the song before the groove became more Rush than Tool. Now I'm sure given time, Danny would fit in just fine … ( and the same could be said for Omar Hakim, who did a great job with the boys a couple of weeks ago ) … but fitting in and making magic are two different things, and as everybody knows, there was only one Neil, and boy, what a way to be painfully reminded of this - especially for Ged: though hats off to Danny for having the courage … If they ever chose to do this long term, they'd never be like Rush with Uncle Neil, they'd be something else, but they'd be cool … but Danny's darker moodier style would definitely change things, would it be cool? Definitely … as good as Uncle Neil? Who knows? … but it would definitely be cool, and it would be different & darker - same level of difference could be said of Omar Hakim, though he'd be brighter in mood than either Danny or Neil - but I don't think even Rush could afford Omar, and besides - would Ged & Alex ever want to start writing Lyrics? Let's face it, Rush was more than the sum of its parts - but even its parts alone were a bit of a miracle.

I liked how he put his own playing and feel into it, without taking away from the original….
He really is an amazing drummer….🤙🏽

There is no replacement for Neil...END OF STORY!! Anyone who gets to sit in on Neil's behalf must be shaking in their boots, trying to replicate the Master!! Neil smiling from above tho!

Even Neil would smile at that performance. It brings a tear to the eye for me. Nice to see the three of them really enjoying the moment.

I've always said there are two drummers that can't be replaced Neil and Greg Saunier (Deerhoof). Oddly because Neil used a billion drums effectively (Danny was 90% of the way there, which I totally respect). Greg for the opposite reason - he shows up with hardly any drums and it sounds like a lot more.

I was lucky enough to see Rush on four different tours in the 80's . Thanks Mom for giving me permission and the money to go with my crazy group of friends thru Jr high and highschool. Greatest moments in my life.

Just like there was one Jaco there is only one Geddy. It’s mind boggling to realize and understand just how good certain musicians play.

I've always been blown away by Neil Peart, the level of focus he had while playing was like Neo seeing into the matrix. I saw a picture of him once - not even a video, just a close up still shot on his face while he was playing and you could see it in his eyes. Nothing in the entire universe existed except for the song he was playing in that moment.

Ok first off have no idea who the hell Danny Carey is and didn't sound to good now on to Geddy and Alex they sounded like they haven't missed a beat but weird not seeing Geddy playing the keyboards and watching someone else playing them and this coming from a Rush fan who saw every concert from 1976-2015

Danny Carey can definitely handle it. He is now sitting in for the imcomprable Bill Bruford in the latest incarnation of King Crimson. Peart and now Bruford. Now thats impressive!

That was such a great interpretation of YYZ by an amazing drummer in Danny Carey! It was also a prime example of how true professionals work together. Even with a few differences and a trouble spot or two, they still did an excellent rendition of the song and ended with everyone smiling and happy!

Rush was a tight unit crew included. Could have been a monitor issue, just a tiny difference in volume level of instruments can really throw you off.

I "" almost"" think it's a sin for someone to sit in Sir Neil Peart seat.
But Danny would be a good choice for that sin
