This is so Wonderful, I remember seeing Volto! about 15 years ago, set was awesome, what was even cooler was sitting right next to Danny afterwards and getting to pick his brain.
From a drumming perspective, Tool on hiatus is the best thing that could happen for Danny. The Volto stuff, this, and the projects where he is playing with the kids is awesome. It really shows how dynamic his playing is. Thanks for the upload!!
Depends on how you define "peer"...in places like LA and NYC, its completely common for 'big names' to jam in the various small, important clubs for musicians, where they can stretch and play in multiple contexts freely.
That look of bliss on Danny’s face when the band kicks in at 2:16 will never not melt my heart. This is one hell of a moment in time. Thanks for this so much!!!
John Z is so freaking awesome on Guitar, the way he pushes Danny into some heady space and Danny is always ready for it! Truly inspirational video. Thank you.
Christ, carey has more range in his skill than a general surgeon. The way he switches between styles is insane. Great video, always nice to see the guy beyond Tool.
Isaw Billy Cobham a couple weeks ago and it was readily apparent to me how much Carey was influenced by Cobham. Except Cobham plays that hihat part open-handed and I don't understand how that works.
Danny has the class and finesse of the best Be Bop jazz drummers and the progressive jazz drummers of decades past all rolled into one big ball of drumming dynamite...explosive man! great to hear this from my fave rock drummer of all time
Hands down the best drummer out there, so funny that he kind of has the urge to get those amazing fills in. Saw them before this whole virus thing started and he is just amazing. It is actually quite mesmerizing to see all of those complex time signatures performed live from the three of them. Nice video, 2 thumbs up!!!!
Love this... Great musicians... Praise to Danny he is a great artist machine and the other artist good... nice style of sound. Cant wait to watch the next video on auto play... TH-cam has changed the way I live life...lol. I remember the days before TH-cam...
Wow what a great video Danny playing one of my fav Billy Cobham songs on drums the whole band mailed this you guys are fckn awesome I'd so pay to see you guys play live omfg thank you for sharing this great video
Danny is so large he makes the drums look like a hello kitty kit for kids and still he shows that you don't need gazillion drums to play like the crazy drummer he is
Kinda boring when u know what Danny’s capable of. Cheesy played-out movements that spiral then a regrouping, then another elevator-music jingle. Maybe I’m being too harsh? I mean, if funk is what ur after, then get greasy, don’t stay in prog-mode & then play dead overplayed soulless watered-down funk beats. Leave the funk out of it & just stick to the prog-elevator genre. Lol. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t have his false god freemasonic aka luciferian imagery to posses him. Think I’m wrong? Happy thinking.
Hope Danny lives a long life and be able to perform like this for the next 30 years!!!
That man is 58 years old today. Just saw him two days ago and he's amazing as ever. What a beast.
I can't believe this. One of my favorite songs by Billy Cobham covered by the drummer of one of my dearest bands of all time.
Pax - Exorcismo is the original
Mauricio! Me too!!!!
Billy Cobham is one of Danny’s idols, Lenny white, Steve Gadd all those king drummers from the fusion era in the 70s.
I'm so happy you guys appreciate this as I was sooooo happy to see it and be able to record it
This is so Wonderful, I remember seeing Volto! about 15 years ago, set was awesome, what was even cooler was sitting right next to Danny afterwards and getting to pick his brain.

This is another reason Danny's the man. How many of his peers would play in a small venue like this?
Depends on how you define "peer"...in places like LA and NYC, its completely common for 'big names' to jam in the various small, important clubs for musicians, where they can stretch and play in multiple contexts freely.
I honestly think danny carey is the greatest drummer of our time, if not in all of time. He can play anything and everything
I love his facial expressions in this video. Hes so happy and excited to be doing what he loves best. I love it danny!
It’s a rare moment when he’s NOT like that… lol
That look of bliss on Danny’s face when the band kicks in at 2:16 will never not melt my heart. This is one hell of a moment in time. Thanks for this so much!!!
I feel the same, love his expressions man, also thank you for the person who recorded it.

Danny's reaction at 2:16 is beautiful!

Pure joy. Both to hear and watch Danny doing his thing, just living and enjoying.
In this time or era....Danny has to be up there with the G.O.A.T
So awesome to see this...playin' for the love of it. TIGHT!
I remember hearing Danny cover this on an associated MySpace page. It opened me up to another world of music. This is awesome!

I saw Cobham himself play this tune 2 weeks ago and Dan kills it.
Danny's brain: this song would be so much more fun in 33/8.
10:29-31 love it!

That double bass action at 6:00 😮😮😮
Danny Carey is your God now
Amen.
Jeff Becks cover is amazing too. I wish Carey & Beck had collaborated on something.

Yep, you can't teach that, folks. You're either born with that, or not.
Seriously now.......4 dislikes!!! WTF is wrong with you? You clearly don't have a clue about Danny!
