For the world premiere of the new Gibson Custom Shop Adam Jones Les Paul Custom, a special animated short film, "The Witness", was created and scored by Adam and mixed by Joe Barresi. Adam was heavily involved in re-creating the new guitar, working with Gibson’s luthiers in Nashville, TN to ensure the instrument was a clone of his #1 guitar. Utilizing his extensive experience in visual art, special effects and design, Adam Jones is both the director of the majority of Tool’s music videos and creates the visual experience on stage for the band.
The Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom is a limited-edition guitar offering from Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab that exactly recreates Adam’s #1 guitar, his prized original Silverburst 1979 Gibson Les Paul. A limited offering of 79 Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom replicas have been precisely aged by the expert luthiers and craftspeople of the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab, led by Tom Murphy, then signed and numbered by Adam himself. An additional 179 Adam Jones Les Paul Custom replicas for 2020 feature exclusive silkscreen artwork on the back of the headstock, created by Joyce Su and Adam. The two also collaborated on the design for the custom hardshell guitar cases housing each instrument.

As much as I'd love his guitar, this song and not spending 17k is a pretty good compromise.

The way Adam can make a simple guitar part with carefully crafted tone sound more epic than most skilled shredders is astonishing. True artistry. Maynard is essential to the Tool project, but I’d pay good money to hear more atmospheric instrumentals from Carey, Jones, and Chancellor. Wow. No introductions needed here. The moment each one of these artist begins to play, they are immediately and unmistakably recognizable. It is impossible to say what musicians are the "best", its all a matter of opinion. What cannot be argued or overstated, is how incredibly unique each of these gentlemen sound is. Many don't vibe with Tool but they have been the soundtrack of my life and I will always be thankful and grateful to have been alive during this time, to have been able to see them perform live.
Amen
Same here; I had a friend Steve Elliott tell me about them in 93’ and I picked up the Undertow cd and it was a game changer for me because in my opinion modern music seemed to be on a steady decline with such bands as Limp Biscuit, Lincoln Park, & Nickelback were not my cup of tea! In my opinion I felt modern music was in a spiraling decline with me only liking a few bands like Pantera, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, & STP in the 90’s. It had been a long time since I could listen to an entire album beginning to end digging each track. I have been fortunate enough to see Tool in concert 4X here in the South and every show was jaw dropping. I consider each of their album a MASTERPIECE and I was born in 72’ & grew up listening to Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, & Rush. All these bands albums were iconic and Tool was first band since that I couldn’t get enough of. Then their album “AEnima” dropped and I hadn’t played a cd over & over beginning to end since AIC’s “Dirt” with Tool tracks like “46 & 2”, “Eulogy”, “AEnima”, “Pushit”, & “H” that totally was mind blowing audible orgasm. Each album since seems to get better and better and how many bands can you say that about currently?#Tool#MaynardJames🎤#AdamJones🎸#JustinChancellor,DannyCarey🥁👑@Archie K

I would buy a Tool instrumental album today. When these three play anything...I want it. Danny and Justin are two of the greatest ever!
The pedantic response would be that without MJK, it's not technically Tool, but all that aside I agree with you. I've had the same though; maybe the 3 of them could be called something else for the purposes of releasing an instrumental album, IDK.

@@stephen9944 it is but at the same time it kinda isn't. If you know what you're looking for (ie if you're a guitar gearhead that knows more or less what it's in there and what contributes to which part of what you're hearing), you can spot the differences, just like a guy that details cars for a living know exactly what kind of paint any given car have on.
Now if you're just the average listener it's very similar to what you'd expect from a alt-metal guitar. And if you play guitar and are trying to emulate his sound it's not that hard to get there with common gear.
it's not VERY different, but it's unique. You know it's him just like you know someone's voice when you hear it (also because of what he plays - how his mind work musically, and how he plays it - the way he feels the instrument and his way of doing it)
An instrumental by "Tool" for a guitar advertisement is more interesting than the vast vast vast vast vast majority of the music being released these days.

One thing that strikes me is how well keyboards/synths fit in and add incredible presence and ambience to the "Tool sound". AJ did a brilliant job with this and it raises the question, would Tool ever consider adding keyboards/synths to new music to a greater extent than they have done in the past? I can only imagine what would happen if Tool were to collaborate with incredible keyboard musicians like Ott, or Ed Wynne (Ozric Tentacles), or legendary prog rockers like Tony Carey or Rick Wakeman. AJ and the rest of Tool are brilliant artists and every new album explores new territory in musicianship, so you never know.

Wish this song was released as a single.
Everybody has been waiting for this Gibson release. I'm waiting for a Chancellor Bass. Waiting...forevermore.
Imagine dropping this for Super Bowl? Millions would be wondering what the hell got slipped into the cheese dip.
😂😂😂 ikr.
A 7.5 minute long commercial during the super bowl would bankrupt them lol
SB is so overrated, the entire game is to be honest, hours upon hours of boredom, almost as bad as watching a game of baseball or golf.
Damn now I want cheese dip smh
The most listened ad ever made
Wish this was on spotify
Every TooL song gives me the chills. Must be some holy magic
I will buy this guitar only if it comes with a cd featuring this song.
That would be so cool!!!
I might go the NIN way and slightly customise a Les Paul Studio for, Oh about 1200 bucks total
And I won't even bother burning this soundtrack. Big Tool fan, always bought their every CD /DVD
But this whole thing is absolute shite, at an insulting price.
They even pulled the ACTUAL SILVER burst guitars that were selling for an already high 5K
I want the vinyl of this... and ill get 2 of them
Absolutely can’t get enough of this...what a monstrous performance. I interpreted The bass-line coming in as ones creativity being awaken. Something primal bursting into existence. This is what music is about, emotion.
Theory: this is an interlude on a new Tool song on a follow up album to Fear Inoculum, like how they played the ending to Descending during live shows waaay before the album came out!
sounds like a solid claim. Up next a tweet from adam medio april jamming a rif...👍🏼
I guess I'll find out in January '22.
This is the most badass advertisement ever. Long Live Adam Jones and Tool!
Well ladies and gentleman, we pretty much just got a new Tool song with this one. It's such a profound entry as well; I hope they use it on the next album in some form. Thanks for the heavenly melody once more and congrats Adam on your signature guitar!
Such beauty in 7 minutes. The evolution of Adams tone has lead up to this.... Were all extremely lucky to have had these men meet to create such music. i believe these tracks should be in the Smithsonian for human life to hopefully hear for eons. Cheers guys.
It's so beautiful that I start crying every time I hear it. Adam is a master on guitar and when Danny and Justin join in, it's a masterpiece
i have the same as you 🤘🤘🤘incredible
