  • Welcome to another episode of Wolf Wagon Garage, Today we will show you how to do crossover steering on your square-body! This is now EASILY my favorite mod I've done to the rig & with all the proper parts, this can be a day/weekend project easily! NOTE It is not necessary to pull the differential cover and pull the center pin to remove the axles shafts.
    Parts list:
    •ORD crossover kit: www.offroaddes...
    Yes, in the video i did call it a spindle nut but I FOUND
    •Pitman arm nut: www.offroaddes...
    •Ried racing knuckle (optional route): www.offroaddes...
    •REDHEAD steering box (18 to 1 ratio): redheadsteerin...
    Dont forget to source all your stock replacement parts! Ball joints, tie rods, etc!

    Cool video, nice Blazer!! I just wanted to say there's no need to get into the diff to pull the axle shafts. Also I've never seen anyone use an impact on wheel bearings, that made me cringe haha!!

      @kylefetters9239 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, i thought i had c clips to remove but realized further how it worked later on! And no worries, impact was on setting 1. Kinda my personal way of feeling them out! Thx for watching and the compliment, always a learning process!

      Well Im glad you said it cause your words are pretty much EXACTLY what I was going to write.
      NEVER use an impact on bearings! BAD for bearings and the spindle nut socket is NOT impact rated.
      There is actually a torquing process with wheel bearings. LOL

    Does the sway bar have to be removed for this crossover setup or only if high steer is added?
    TKS!

    • @WolfWagonAdventures
      @WolfWagonAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the stock sway-bar does have to be removed... BUT you can install an aftermarket sway-bar option that is Crossover compatible.

    Can i use a hydroboost brake master and ps pump out of a newer gm truck 2004- ish with the red head steering box?
    What is part number or Link to the updated universal joint steering shaft ?
    What tie rod assembly do i need to run on TOP side of knuckles??

    • @WolfWagonAdventures
      @WolfWagonAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unsure as for the compatibility of the modern hydroboost setup, but you can order the RedHead box ported for hydro for an extra cost. Up to the builder from there.
      The shaft is 88-98 Jeep Cherokee, can be ordered from quadratec, rock auto, etc.
      The top mount tie rods are for a 1976 K20, one of the specific years of the "HD dana 44"
      All above parts were bought at local parts stores!

    Hey man, did yall try driving it with the tie rods in reverse (upside down an rightside up?) I've ordered a kit without the driver's side knuckle, and that's how I think I'm gonna end up driving it due to budget concerns. Was there more slop?

      @@WolfWagonAdventures yeah modern bump steer great! You must first know what it is! Or you created it by messing with stuff you know nothing about. Ask any alignment shop the new f250s drive bad and no matter what they do they can't make them drive good. Thats shops from coast to coast that align all trucks up to the semis. There is a reason every truck larger then a pickup still uses that steering and the run millions more miles then you ever will. Get a clue!
