I'm not a pianist, I've been using the same old Korg X-50 with unweighted synth action for years. It died, so naturally I ordered a grandstage because I have serious self control issues. Jack and Luke, you are to blame.

Love the video. I ended up purchasing the Grandstage 88. I love it! The piano sounds are so dynamic. IMO, Korg really outdoes Nord and Roland here on sound quality. The keyboard bed feels great too.

@@flamwork06 its about 40lbs. It's pretty evenly distributed. I've carried it around to a few gigs and it wasn't bad.
Tyler Lore - totally agree, dude! I have been a Yamaha guy for +35 years. And have played Nord too.... Just got the Korg Grandstage 88.... NEVER ever tried anything as realistic and dynamic as this board.... RH3 keys also way better than Yamaha, Nord, Roland, Casio & the works..... Grandstage is a rare GEM.... Very underrated. Even by me - always avoided Korg. For good reasons - but the Grandstage is a gamechanger. Badass machine! 🎹🔥

I have to say...that was fun. I love you guys! To have that much fun and still accomplish such a great demo video was just over-the-top. I have a sizeable rig and don't even NEED one, but now I'm gonna buy one. It's a great piece!
I really like the percussive sound of the grand in the intro - like the mikes were placed fairly close to the hammers. It cuts a nice swath through any mix.
So enjoyed that video - Jack and Luke rock it!
Thank you for this video! This demo helped me decide that the Grandstage 73 is the one for me; more so than the used SV-1s I had been looking at before. It arrived yesterday and I'm in love with the piano sounds and the action. I'm really excited to learn a little bit more about it every day because there's a gazillion settings to tweak.

I play guitar as well. I took a piano/keyboard class in school and there have been a few times I've really wanted to buy one but, the problem now is that there's a good 8 string I've found for sale for less than $500. AND Ibanez is also releasing a new Tube Screamer and I'm in love with Ibanez
If nothing better comes out at Namm show 18 I want this board! Roland amd Yamaha fan normally but to me it's better then the rd 2000. Maybe not in action but sound wise for sure.

Okay, I know the Kronos has been out for a long time, but perhaps you could have Luke back with the Kronos LS - a lighter version of the 88 keyboard.

Not bad digital piano .... But instead of RGB led light, the stand and sounds that a serious player never going to use In my opinion ( fx bank) like to see more different types of pianos (modelling to your own taste),electro mechanical sounds, harpsichord ! , a synth part with knobs.... More focus on live performers , more professional . I like the synth, Rhodes sounds from KORG and sometimes the pianos 😉

Hey! I own a Grandstage myself, and I'm really happy with it, the big difference between your options is the portability, my keyboard is 44 pounds and somewhat heavy. About the sounds, it has all the sounds you ask for, and they sound great
get an FA-08 if the keybed matters that much to you, but the pianos won't sound as good as the SV2 or Grandstage, but any of these is overkill for a stage, so it is up to you
both SV2 and Grandstage have synth-action keys, if I recall correctly
Luke makes me feel like I should know all those songs.
Im not really impressed by Korg Pianos, but men this grandstage is so different, and i heard kirk franklin using using this grandstage, and now i really want this so bad.

My roland xp-80 in the 80's had this feature..Please….it should be standard no big deal at this point… you would expect that in any keyboard… Otherwise, great review and am definitely considering this board
The Xp-80 didn't really have the same, you could switch sounds while holding that sound, but the fx would abruptly swap to the fx of the new selection. So that reverb would turn into a distortion if you switched from a piano to a screaming guitar. With Korgs SST, the fx will remain like the original when switching. That's quite different. I do agree with you that it should be standard with any keyboard company. But sadly, it isn't.
my Kross2 doesn't transition at all, abruptly cuts off, my Juno-DS behaves as GirthUnitz describes

Is it possible to transer sounds (GSX-2 sounds) back and forth between GS and Kronos 2?
Am I alone in thinking that the RH3 Keyboard action is a little on the heavy side?
I did when I first got the Grandstage, but after a few months of playing I've gotten used to it. Maybe my fingers have gotten stronger...idk. lol
Piano player here.. Tried all these keybeds on Digital Pianos and for me the RH3 is the best.. 😁
It is actually among the best in my experience barring the ones that are full length key/real(ish) piano key beds/actions.

I don't like the other brands mostly because they're too light. Especially Nord just feels like a toy to me

Yes you are right and can be adjusted. Once adjusted the pianos come to life.

How does this compare to the Kronos piano sounds ?
They are the same samples. The "Grandstage Piano" is the only unique sample to the Grandstage now. They just brought the Italian Piano to the Kronos as a download.

Sound nice ... but ... what an awful and bulky design. And the RH3 action isn't any better. For worse, it's heavy. These days no stage piano 73 should weight more than 30 lbs. And those tiny "screens"?. Please, it's 2019. Stop with these late 80s designs. You have a great touch screen for Kronos, and not for this?. At least give HDMI input to use a laptop as the needed screen.
It's a stage piano not a workstation
HDMI is not an input on a laptop.🤦♂️ If there were HDMI on the Grandstage, it would be an output. It wouldn’t be useful though, because the patches aren’t editable. If they were, this would be a Kronos and cost you $4000. Less features=less money🤷🏻♂️
