Totally agree, touch screens become outdated so quickly and are horrible to use, particularly if you have sweaty fingers under harsh stage lights

There goes my sense of superiority over Stage 2 users... This is a much bigger deal than some cynics are saying: the quality and versatility of the sounds of Nord have always been a bit limited by the UI, but this is as close as they've gotten to totally blurring the lines between stage piano and workstation keyboard. Incredible.

Excellent video and clearly an amazing keyboard. I do wonder what the sales will be like however. In the States, the Stage 4 is going to sell for 4900 to 5700 dollars depending on the model. That’s quite a nut for a board that most players will use a fraction of its power. As an owner of a Stage 3 for a few years now, I can honestly say that I could have achieved the same results on jazz and rock gigs with other fine stage pianos at much less the price. Don’t get me wrong, I love Nord keyboards but it will be interesting to see if they have reached a point where most musicians simply won’t be able to afford them.

The is by far the best and most informative (and only?) Nord Stage 4 preview out here. Kudos to Jack and the Falcon!
New features that I'd probably love:
    * physical drawbars on all models.
    * more direct control over the layers without switching from the A to B layer.
    * new FX and such
    Not thrilled about: 😒
    * still only 2GB for piano samples? Really? Unless they've incorporated some new compression algorithms to pack more samples into 2GB.
    * different connector for the triple pedal (is there unique hardware in the Pedal 2 or can we just rewire the Pedal 1?)
    * I would like to have seen some sort of onboard USB audio to be able to balance the great Nord sounds with VSTs.

It sounds beautiful. Having separate effects for each tone is something I've had on my Roland gear since 2014, did not know they did not have that before. The panel layout is excellent. Jumping around to different tones to add layers is nothing new either, they used to call it multitimbral. Didn't look like too much menu diving, a big plus. The sound coming through TH-cam is excellent so that means if you were there it would have been fantastic. The reverb was powerful and lush. There is no doubt there is some serious DSP going on in this synth. However, at $5,500, when considering you can get 2 VERY high quality 88 key keyboards for that price, it is most certainly for a very selective buyer’s audience no doubt. But I‘m impressed.

@@saloniagrawal5676 Hi Saloni. I have the Roland FA06. It is 16-part multitimbral so I can layer to make monster sounds or have each tone assigned to each layer and use the pads on the synth to quick cycle through them for live gigs changing sounds on a dime. I have created sounds that many on the internet say you need an expensive Prophet, Moog, or Arp Quadra to create and that is NOT true. However, it does take time, patience and learning. Also, for gigging I use the Roland RD88. I fell in love with the playing feel of the keys, the action. The menu? Ouch! But I'm used to Roland, so I get around OK. The sounds are anywhere from good, very good to Excellent (EP's are fantastic). Hope that helps. Joe

Very cool to see a bird's-eye view of the new features in the NS4. It looks like a great keyboard, and per-section FX are a welcome (if very late) addition. Still, I think I'm not alone in voicing my doubts about whether the NS4 was all it ought to have been. Pressing quality-of-life complaints with the NS3 are now carried over into the NS4:
Are the synth engine and distortion / amp sim FX oversampled? When playing B3, does turning on percussion finally cancel the 1' drawbar as on an original Hammond? Is there finally per-patch vibrato speed and max depth control? Can individual sections be addressed on their own MIDI channel? Surely some of these could (and if they can, should) be pushed to the NS4 and even the NS3, if the hardware can handle them.
And as for new features: I see that the Triple Pedal 2 is connected by dedicated DIN input to provide multiple continuous pedals. Is it not possible for Nord to offer TP2 functionality to Stage 3 owners by having them plug into the MIDI in port on the Stage 3? Perhaps the TP2 DIN has a different electrical pinout, in which case I concede my ignorance! But might some of the TP2 "switch" functions, like assigning the left pedals to scene or patch change, be programmed to answer to the original Triple Pedal? And what about .nsmp4 compatibility? Will the Stage 3 eventually work with the new format's new features like round robin? I, and the rest of the Stage 3 community, hope to see some of these addressed.
Now, all that said, it looks great and if I can't find something on par, I'm sure I'll take the plunge eventually. But goodness - toss a crumb or two to prior Stage boards. 😉

The stage 4 is like the new iPhone, nothing different from the last model, but you know, "the camera is better" 🙂

Note the same garbage screws on the back of the case. How many will be stripped or broken after a tour haha NORD ARE YOU LISTENING

@@kdl0 they're definitely not listening, but hey, now we have faders instead of knobs, at the extra cost of a grand LMAO, oh and we finally did what almost every other flagship workstation has had and added effects to every zone 🤣💀

The layer control by means of sliders and the independent layer control for FXs are obviously based on their own Nord Wave 2, and they' re just a very useful feature.

so still NO EXTERNAL MIDI implementation and control with the sliders? People use LAPTOPS now and wouldnt it be keen to control them more effectively with the Nord..If that part isnt in the video and is actually possible (other than one external knob) let me know!

I played a Nord (Stage 3) for the first time ever last weekend. I've always been a Yamaha guy, but I did enjoy the Nord. I'm still a Yamaha guy, but I will never hate on a Nord, except for the price 😮. As a worship leader, I really like the sounds that are available. What Yamaha would be the direct competition for the Stage? I'm assuming the YC88? I've never played 1, but I've watched videos. I love Yamaha, but they seem to be stuck in the past with sounds. Nord feels like they have more modern sounds.
