    Compare Dylans crazy windtunnel testing vs this dude using a handlebar bag and mostly stock components 😂 Congrats!

      😂😂 hey man we do what we can lmaoo. To be fair the bar-bag was behind the number plate they made us have and made sure we didn’t bent it or cut it or anything 😂. I was still about 1h slower than Dyson m tho lmaoo. For an amateurs that’s been cycling for like 2.5 years and racing for less than 2 I’ll take it lol. And Let’s just say that wasn’t just wind tunnel 😂🤪. This Been my first time doing the race my number one goal was to finish that’s why I had so many spares and it was just me and one other guy I didn’t have a full on crew at the aid so I carried more to make his life easier.

    Thanks for sharing! Did you have those S-works Pathfinder tires setup as tubeless with sealant or you have them fitted with inner tubes?
    It's logical to set them up as tubeless to reduce weight and for better rolling resistant. But if you have a puncture, it will be pretty messy (and more time consuming) to deal with those sealant and put in the tube!

    • @DennisGonzalez101
      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Man I totally missed the ball there, yes these are setup tubeless my apologize. It would be messy but being able to run lower pressure way more comfortable and not only that but running tubes would be almost impossible as pinch flatting was so common. The issue with people that had multiple punctures was that once your tires weren’t tubeless anymore and you had a tube in it it was so so easy for a pinch flat with all the rock that’s why so many riders had multiple flats.

  • @B4rbeCourte
    @B4rbeCourte 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Congratulations again on your race! You should replace your old tubes with TPU tubes, you'll save weight but also space in your bags.
    What would you do differently if you had to change anything ? Bike setup, preparation, nutrition, ....

    • @DennisGonzalez101
      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thx man 🙏. Yeah I thought about it but to be honest these were the tubes that came on the bike when I bought it before I set it up tubeless.
      Is hard to say I would change much now after a good result and what actually went wrong with the contact was kind of out of my control and because of it the crash happened. I would say I would like to be better nutrition specially the day before the race. Being somewhere new and specifically Kansas is literally in the middle of no where and not really any good places to eat the food you would want to eat before a big day like that, also my fault for no preparing my own food at the accommodation but to be fair I didn’t know how it was because it was the team that booked everything. Aside from that not much I would change, maybe on the bike if I had to change something I would’ve put the eagle mtb set up with the 10-50 rear cassette to make some of those climbs easier to save energy.

    Such a normal (yh expensive but readily available) setup. Really like the simplicity but also the thoughts towards gearing. Even running the stock saddle xD thats actually crazy. But ey, if it fits it fits.

    • @RAP4EVERMRC96
      @RAP4EVERMRC96 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      spare butyl tubes 💀give TPU a try for spares. I mean obviously you have the legs and the few grams wont change a thing for you, but they take up so much less space. Could really ease your setup with having more room for stuff

    • @DennisGonzalez101
      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thx man. Someone else also mentioned the TPU tubes. I don’t ever ride with spare tubes and used these simply because they were the ones that came on the bike before it was setup tubeless so I just packed them to save a few bucks 😂. These aren’t cheap races to say the least 😂.

    Good video and congrats to your placing. A tip for future videos, if I may. Don't film the bike against the sun. Have the sun in your back, shining on the bike. That way, your viewers can see it better.

      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thx and noted for sure. I’m still new at this and really like doing the best I can with it. I did notice the sun like u said, the time of day I recorded was not the best unfortunately but is what I had because of work and that was the better background for the video but yes I totally understand what you mean. I probably also messed up with the ND filter I chose for how bright it was out. Thx for the constructive criticism 🤙🏽.

    Can you tell us what you ate during the race? How many carbs did you consume per hour, water, etc?

    • @DennisGonzalez101
      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely I’m trying to put something together but for this race I was using beta fuel, 80G mix, beta fuel 40G gels and shews. I would estimate I had around 90 per hours. I honestly wish it was higher but is just what I took on cuz race was so fast and terrain made it very hard. I had 3 hydration packs, one I started with and one at each aid, each one had 4 saches of mix so 320G of carb each with 2 sis salt tablets each and I finished all 3 of them plus the gels I had. I carried 2 750ml bottle on each cage with just plain water which I swapped for fills ones just at the last aid. Hope that helps. Cheers 🤙🏽.

      I didn’t race the pros. We had a completely different start and podium awards. I race the non elite 200 miles race with 1300+ starters. Complete different races. If you go and look up results on the unbound website it shows elite man 200 / elite woman 200 and 200 mile which is what I race 3 totally different races but you wouldn’t know cuz I’m sure you weren’t there.

    Congratulations. I do think it is a bit disingenuous to present your result as 2nd and 7th overall, as if you rode in the elite 200. But still a very solid performance. All the best.

    • @DennisGonzalez101
      @DennisGonzalez101  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I feel that people that say this have never done the race and done this before. How is it disingenuous when we also had our own start, our own podium ceremony rode the same milage and put the effort on the training ? I’m not a pro who does this for a living I have a regular Job and train when I can so no I can’t compete on the elite class, that been said with my time that would’ve put me around 80th on the elite class which would’ve been mid pack for somewhere who’s been riding for 3 years or so, but I still had my own 200 mile race 16-29 age group which is what I signed up for the lotto and it was a mass start of 1300 plus riders on which I finished 7th. That’s like saying when you are a cat 5 and win your race you can’t say you won because you weren’t on the P12? Make no sense to me. Is the elite class the only class the exist ? How would I present my result as if I literally was on the podium on 2nd and also my Trophy says 2nd place ?
