"Weird and nuts factor." Awesome! Until now my main thought was the tower & tilt track looks _very_ early 2000s, 90s even! That's not surprising considering the _only_ Vekoma Tilt Coaster ever built opened in 2002 in China, 22 years ago! I think that's why it has that "weird and nuts factor!"

I think some people who aren't coaster enthusiasts, tend to be leery of anything that tilts, and then rejoins the track. I for one, look forward to actually getting my first ride on one of them. So I'll definitely be going to Cedar Point again. Thanks for explaining how it works. That's pretty nifty. And loved the intro, made me chuckle.

    Finally, it's CAD time again!
I have seen some really hilarious discussions out there, where people were assuming that it is just the brakes holding the train in place. Come on, even if they *were* capable of doing this, no sane authority would allow operation of this ride if there is no additional safety built in.
I remember when Phantasialand opened the Winjas coasters (two Maurer custom spinning coasters), and both featured a tilting track element (one sideways, one from a slight up-slope to a slight down-slope, nothing as big as what Vekoma is doing), and both featured a "drop track" - not in the way that an entire track section freefalls, but after going onto it, it dips down behind you. They had so many issues to get this choreography of sensors, actors and the control system lined up that the rides had a lot of downtime initially. (Note: Just ride shutdowns, no incidents or accidents, so they aren't unsafe). So there is a LOT to go into any coaster with a "broken track element", and no manufacturer would want to hurt their reputation by delivering an unsafe ride.

Silly question because it seems safe as it is, but why don’t they have pins that line up with the bottom of each one of the train cars and get driven in vertically, locking the pins like the front one does with some sort of latching mechanism that isn’t phased by gravity. Things that lock onto the front/back of the train seem like a good idea, but it almost feels like a safety mechanism and not something I would have thought they’d use as primary locking.. if you had say 5 cars on a train and each pin that latches in the bottom has the ability to bare the weight of the whole train, surely that’s 5 points that if god forbid one two three or even four of them fail somehow, it will still be able to hold it

Come on Ryan.... They have the nickname Ve-coma for a reason lol. I haven't ridden an SLC or Boomerang that wouldn't make Arrow proud....I do wish more parks would invest in upgraded restraints/trains and possible re tracks like Great Nor'easter(Moreys Pier) or Blue Hawk(SFOG). That would make SLCs and Boomerangs enjoyable again but for now all they are good for is making sure my chiropractor stays in business

The last Vekoma I rode, Aftershock (inverted Boomerang) at Silverwood last year, is one of the most miserable roller coasters I've ever ridden. I have to wonder, _why_ did 3 parks suddenly buy a Vekoma Tilt Coaster, when only one was ever built, _22 years ago?!_

@@crooked-haloI imagine it was a bit of a watershed moment where once one park bought one, the rest decided that it was about time they did too. Vekoma have been making massive improvements in the past decade or so and their modern rides are unrecognizable from their older Boomerangs and SLCs

This _is not_ "America's first," at least not _yet._ Circuit Breaker, the Vekoma Tilt Coaster at COTA in Texas is already under construction. Whichever one opens first will BE "America's first." There's another being built in Mexico. Is Vekoma having a clearance sale?! Too many Tilt Coaster parts in their factory for 20 years? They only built one, Gravity Max, over 20 years ago in China! Why? Does Gravity Max suck? Did it have major problems?! The tilt track & tower looks _very_ early 2000s! EDIT - I just learned Circuit Breaker is still just pieces in their parking lot, hasn’t even been started. Sirens Curse will probably be the first.
