To anyone naïve enough to think that Tim Caine and Leonard Boyarsky won't be blamed for this re-release, remember that everyone blamed Bioware for ME3's awful endings, not EA.
I got this game through Humble Monthly and I've been struggling to get it to run at all. I keep getting "Out of video memory" crashes even during the most mundane scenarios. I haven't even made it far past the tutorial mission because of this. Like now, just right now, my game crashed loading in to the ship at the beginning. I'm gaming at 1080p, medium graphics, with special effects, like global illumination, turned off, on a 1060 with 6GB of VRAM. I could reasonably play Cyberpunk 2077. Somehow THIS game runs out of video memory.
And now also on PS plus extra/premium put it for free and for someone who played the standard edition back it on launch and loved the game, the spacer choice edition it's comically worse than the old one.
@@turkwarrior2 has someone who played both, I believe the original version it's SOMEHOW better in most ways, faster loading screen, less dumb AI, waaaay less bug and overhaul better than the "next gen version".
This was terrible; The fans on my GPU were just A'SCREAMIN' when I fired it up. I truly hope they fix this; The Outer Worlds is too decent a game to have the next-gen port be THAT bad!
People who never played TOW are getting the Spacer's Choice. They're writing reviews that are overly harsh on stuff like the gameplay, because the performance issues are ruining their whole experience. They have no idea that the original game is a masterpiece. It's so sad. I don't want anyone to miss out on TOW proper.
I've seen this dropping below 30 FPS on a i9-13900K + RTX 4090! Also, a 3070 is only managing 45 FPS at 1080p. That's just inexcusable when my old 1070 (I currently have a 3060 Ti) was able to run the original at 60!
I bought this game today, played for an hour and I couldn't handle the terrible performance and refunded it. This was genuinely awful, I have a 3060 ti, i5 12400 and 16gb of ddr4 ram and I couldn't run it at 1080p at max settings without dipping into 40 fps and massive stutters.
Even putting aside the awful performance, I agree with you that the visual upgrades aren’t good. Certainly not worthy of the praise many TH-cam channels are giving it. The colors are oversaturated, especially on the red/orange end of the color spectrum. The new lighting makes everything look cartoony, but especially close up NPC faces which now take on a quasi-cel shaded quality, making them look almost Borderlands-ish. Areas that were once dark and gritty are now bright and colorful. They went overboard adding new neon and cranking the contrast to max. In many places I can only describe the new visual look as garish. Too bright, too busy, too distracting. While adding very little of meaning to the core game except flashiness.
I’m so glad I searched about the spacers choice. Already played the original a while back and was interested in SC since it’s on sale in the PS store rn for like $30~ 💀 was wondering why a recent “next-gen” upgrade got discounted so soon… well now I know. Thanks for the info I’ll just replay the ps4 version. It’s backwards compatible on ps5 anyways.
Grab the original while you can because more than likely, this will replace it and they will take the original off the store. This was done with Dragon Quest 11.
Well , when you let a company who stuffs sawdust and sprats into their saltuna try their hand at game development ... Ye
Can I play it in third person yet?
I got this game through Humble Monthly and I've been struggling to get it to run at all.
I keep getting "Out of video memory" crashes even during the most mundane scenarios. I haven't even made it far past the tutorial mission because of this.
Like now, just right now, my game crashed loading in to the ship at the beginning. I'm gaming at 1080p, medium graphics, with special effects, like global illumination, turned off, on a 1060 with 6GB of VRAM.
I could reasonably play Cyberpunk 2077.
Somehow THIS game runs out of video memory.
This is why epic gave it for free 😂💀
True
And now also on PS plus extra/premium put it for free and for someone who played the standard edition back it on launch and loved the game, the spacer choice edition it's comically worse than the old one.
didnt even know it was free before it free again has it improved? i already own base game and dlc was thinking of playing upgraded version
While adding very little of meaning to the core game except flashiness.
epic: Yeah? well take it for free **slam it in their users face**
I’m so glad I searched about the spacers choice. Already played the original a while back and was interested in SC since it’s on sale in the PS store rn for like $30~ 💀 was wondering why a recent “next-gen” upgrade got discounted so soon… well now I know. Thanks for the info
I’ll just replay the ps4 version. It’s backwards compatible on ps5 anyways.
Good lord I just played it right now everything is so dark and I got dizzy from the gameplay.
What if you get the game fully for free for Christmas on Epic Games?.
But why if they have nothing to do with this " upgrade" their Twitter page ( obsidian page) is full of advertising for this spacer choice???
They probably have to still promote it, as it's still a game they produced
@@pixeljacked8047 but damn their whole page is dedicated to this cash grab
Working on getting my refund from PlayStation as I’m commenting this 😢 I was so excited
Yeah it's sad. And good luck with the refund
@@--PaZuZu-- thank you! The refund process is mad confusing but I got it done!
@@Adeusaii Good! Glad you got your money back. 👍😊
Grab the original while you can because more than likely, this will replace it and they will take the original off the store. This was done with Dragon Quest 11.
Those who come from epic games
you know what they said. "It's not the best choice. it's spacer's choice"
After what 2k/Take two did with GTA trilogy... I suppose this was expected.
Facts!
I just refunded it on Steam. Thanks for this video, Tyler! 👍
idk why people hate The Outer Worlds so much, it was pretty fun for the 20+ hours i played of it but maybe I missed smthn
Its free on epic games this week.
It's not the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice!!!
Well , when you let a company who stuffs sawdust and sprats into their saltuna try their hand at game development ... Does it surprise you that they turn a game which runs at 200fps into something which runs at 40fps? The irony would be complete if they used dlss3 frame generation to add some sawdust frames into your video game to make it perform right ;)
so theres no texture upgrades tho? or shadow upgrades and such?
