The first time I played the Emerald Vale section I went exploring in the Geothermal Plant and ended up in the basement. I found the terminal that controls the power flow and was like "wonder what happens if I change it to the biolab" and the whole town of Edgewater lost power and everyone hated me when I first arrived. The dialogue was even different to if I went there first to speak with Reed. That's true player choice. I didn't even intentionally complete the quest, I just stumbled across what I needed and then faced the consequences.

i had 3 crashes so far, and i suspect having all settings on high might be the root cause of it. Only other issue I noticed is the audio having difficulty on the upper level of the groundbreaker, where you no longer hear your footsteps and such, only reloading and box opening. other than this, very smooth, this is certainly not Bethesda quality. And I am actually enjoying having a different view of post-apocalyptic that is not fallout. it's a great change of pace.
Sometimes my mouse emits two click actions in a row for some reason, and last night it happened after clicking on the option to leave dialogue, having finished my conversation with an NPC. The click closed the dialogue, but the second, unintended, click fired my weapon pointing at the NPC, triggering a gunfight in Edgewater. Good thing I saved just before.
@@metalbean I have a logitech mouse with the same problem, I replaced it with a new one and problem solved, the instant double click is annoying not only for games, for everything that you do
If you're using a melee weapon and put it away, it won't come out when you press x. It's trying to reload. Can't reload a sword when you're simply trying to talk or open a door.
@@metalbean like the other person said, this could be a fault with the mechanical switch under the left click. It is a very common fault on a lot of gaming mice, my logitech also had this issue and I reported it to tech support 22 months into my 24 month warranty and my retailer replaced it free of charge. Hopefully yours is still in warranty, contact the manufacturer and get your dues!
I play as a time traveler. Quick-save, slaughter everyone in a town to see what happens, Quick-Load, and pretend there are alternate dimensions or Universes.

Something really cool I learned today is if you get the robophobia flaw and have SAM as a companion, you actually get a debuff called “phobia”that knocks down a lot of your stats. Also when you speak the robots you have the dialogue option of “AHHHHHH!!!!!”.
Thanks for this tip, it really broke the immersion whipping your gun out and pointing it at people when you interact, I didnt think of melee weapons. Thanks again!
if you hold the back button on the controller for more than a second you will always go to the map screen and for the start button you will always go to the quest screen
I had high expectations for this game and so far its exceeded every one, I played through New vegas 3 times and it was like a completely different game each time, def see myself doing the same with outer worlds
Thomas Mahoney im on my second play through already and let me tell you, its a totally different vibe. My first character was a smart charitable guy that went out of his way. Now im a bashful sarcastic ass hole and there are so many options for every character that i missed the first time around!

i played FO3 and New Vegas and ive got the platinum thorpy for FO4. im 12hs in Outter Worlds and is awefully boring, the action parts are awefull and the maps are uninspired.
another thing you didnt mention is if you want to free roam you can. You can also find quest items prior to ever starting the quest. You will hang onto them and once you start the dialogue for the quest, you will have the option to say "I already found that" or something along those lines.

The first 30-40 minutes of playing the game I wasn't sure if I was gonna like, but after playing for awhile I actually really really enjoy it. There are a few things I would tweak with the game but overall I have had so much fun and I've gotten so invested in my companions. They did a good job on this title, especially when the companions are so alert to all of the different places you take them. Awesome job on their part!
Tip - if you want all the loot, search every nook and cranny. There are a surprising amount of lootable containers, corpses, and random items laying around. Another tip - watch your enemy indicators. It's honestly a good heads up before you get ambushed. Third - use your melee weapon. At times the gun fire up close is too slow. Early on you can find some decent 1-handed melee weapons.
*Accepted "Drug Addiction" as a Flaw* around 4 hours in, only noticed *after saving.* Restarted with a 1-handed Melee Tank build, *laying off the Adrena-Time syringes!*

When it comes to hard to reach stuff (although I do agree the dodge forward is a must) the classic Doom/Quake run, jump and crouch also serves as a solid secondary if you dont have the skill yet.
I found this game brand new for $5 in Puerto Rico a couple weeks ago on vacation, I had been putting off buying it. As soon as I saw it I snatched it, and as soon as I got back home I put it in my PS4 and been playing the hell out of it. Love it!
I think a couple people already touched on this, but the classic tip is a good one to add here: play through a mission, save a new save file, and you can go back at any time to try a different course. I do this before making any major decisions. You could play through the entire game and then play again by choosing a different option for a “what-if” scenario from any point in the game. I see a lot of re-play potential in this game.
I just finished my first playthrough yesterday and I have to say I love it and hope there's an eventual sequel. I never played Mass Effect so I can't compare it to that, but for me it feels like a combination of Fallout, Borderlands, and Knights of the Old Republic.
For console players if you don't want to pull out your weapon every time you interact with somebody or something, switch to a melee weapon before you put your weapon away and you won't pull out your weapon anymore.
On XBOX ONE you can put your weapon away by HOLDING DOWN THE X Button. I just figured that out 30 minutes ago. Accidently came across it. Just an fyi to Xbox One players.

For your number 3 spot, that treasure you showed to be inaccessible is actually accessible just by jumping up the little metal parts infront of the entryway, you don't really need any specific skills upgraded/activated to get to it :)
I just got done playing this in legendary, I had a blast. Shooting npc’s and enemies in the game gives so much joy an satisfaction. None of the weapons have bugs and are very well balanced. I’m waiting for outer worlds 2 to come out.
For number 8, if you have a melee weapon equipped, after sheathing it. Using the interact button (either X or square) the melee weapon will not be unsheathed
I'm level 20 and not even at 50%. I say the combat is like fallout 4, the graphics, atmosphere and the aesthetics of every world is incredibly breathtaking. The story of each character is really complex and detailed, its like the NPC's story is one of the factors of this. My advice is to level up your dialog and stealth earlier in the game. Dialog is to pick special convo and farm expi, stealth is if you want low profile and will be easier to hack/lockpick as you progress. Loot everything, steal everything.
But dont try to close a door to steal, when you have companions in your party lmfao. those assholes just run right in and open the door for all to see. got so pissed so many times from that, when I forget to tell them to wait outside lol
Maybe its because I've been playing PC games since the 80's but I know to go and check the options menu first, before starting a game. So most of this stuff isnt a huge suprise to me.
oddly enough some of the pc bugs made me feel like I was playing New Vegas again. My favorite is an npc was standing while clipping through the floor and bed of their house. Still less bugs than any Bethesda game though.

Ive encountered a few UI bugs where menus or individual menu elements disappear or appear in the wrong place but thats it, and closing out of whatever menu it is and opening it up again always fixes it. Also a few graphics glitches when loading new areas or when extremely large objects are right at the corner of the screen. Nothing that has broken the game or anything approaching bethesda style stuff. The games been running for nearly 12 consecutive hours now with no instability or hint of a crash
I have around 10 hours on Xbox and the only bug I’ve run into was a single enemy that went invisible when he died, I couldn’t see the body but he was still lootable. (No he wasn’t an ash pile)
1 hour in on steam and I noticed I had no saves because of a glitch so I had to get a refund, but other than that great game for the short part I played
Increase Perception in the character creator, if you want more dialogue options. There's a lot of perception checks. Make sure you're on High. Lone Wolf Perk + never bringing anyone along, increases your damage by 15%...great for Supernova and sniper rifles. Don't worry about lock picking not being very high. A lot of the things you need, you can steal, and all of the guns and unique weapons, are found outside of boxes/lockers. Parvati is best for melee with her speed perk. Preacher is best with a shotgun/ranged, Nyoka boosts your sneaking but realistically is a great ranged tank. Max is the best with launchers, Ellie is the best with Handguns, and SAM, well SAM is pretty useless, as 90% of the game is killing organics more than robots Always blind in TTD, then cripple. Vermin (Pistol) comes with Knockout in TTD, literally knocks them down for a few seconds, very OP. Take 1 flaw, to stay ahead of the Perk system, without being deathly "allergic" to everything else. What works for me best, is either fear of heights and or needing to eat more often. Improvised weapon Perk (300% dmg) and a shovel, makes you Shovel god...sure its melee, but you'll be unstoppable.
Spent most of last night and today playing. I am hooked. If nothing else, I knew it would be a better experience than Fallout 76. I am not dissapointed. In fact, I am blown away. The story is great! The setting and lore are amazing. And plenty of New Vegas call backs. This game deserves a running for Game of the Year. This is art. This is a game. Bethesda... Are you taking notes? Pro Tip: If you give your character a flaw, they're stuck with it forever. Don't do what I did and give your character a fear of robots, since the Robot Companion is the best character in the game.
I made my bed and im lying in it, im deathly afraid of my robot but it doesn't matter, what he makes me lack in confidence is made up 10 fold with his deadly capabilities.

Maybe but up until Fallout 76 Bethesda was a trusted company who put out good games (with some bugs but nothing game breaking). So up until Fallout 76 it wasn't "dumb" to buy their products. In a post Fallout 76 world it would be best to watch the reviews first.
Yeah I totally agree mate that’s why it pains me even more, but the last 2 years have been more than a joke, trust me i hate to slag them off I love bethesda, I’ve even got a sealed fallout 3 lunch box collectors edition. Also I think outer worlds it good but very over rated, people saying it’s the best RPG in years it’s not, try kingdom come deliverance, then come back to this, it feels like a shallow short experience.
Another tip for supernova: get science to 20. TINKER EVERYTHING. Seriously spend all your bits on it. Base line lets you increase an items level to yours +5. Runing around the first area in a lvl 12 suit of armor and lvl 12 plasma rifle made life hekka easier.
I haven't needed it at any time in the game so far. They struggled a bit towards the end of this video to fill out 10 tips. It's OK to have 6-7, you know.

Beginners tip: Gather all lock picks and shunts you find. You can’t buy them at vending machines early on, you can only buy them if you buy from any character selling.

Idk I like this it's fun but it's not the best, new Vegas had a lot more choices and lasting impacts for joining and destroying factions, this has no lasting decisions besides the main storyline, getting faction rep doesn't do anything that I have noticed, no special armor or weapons or special interactions, the game kinda feels empty, but I enjoy the Firefly derived story
If you hold down the triangle button on the PS4 controller instead of pressing it, it brings up the weapon select wheel and if you hold down the square button it puts away all weapons, good if you find it odd to talk to characters with a weapon pointing at their face.

This game is hands down the best rpg in recent years, I’ve put so many hours in since I got off work yesterday. I can no doubt see myself replaying after I finish. Also the companions on the ship are hilarious mostly how they interact with each other and have super funny dialogue.

The Outer Worlds is an amazing RPG . I love how open ended it is . So far I haven't been able to put the game down and that's rare for a hard core gamer like me . I hope now that Microsoft has Obsidian Entertainment we get the long needed sequel or at least a remake of the fantastic action RPG Alpha Protocol this game was a fun game but was a bit under rated . If you guys have not played it yet. I highly recommend you doing so . It has so many choices and endings . It's worth it .

you can cancel your melee swing animation by tapping the sprint button, if you alternate swinging with sprinting you can swing your melee weapon pretty fast, works on pc at least
So far in my playthrough, I've been offered 3 different phobias and I've turned down all of them. Which makes me want to try on my next playthrough to accept every phobia unconditionally to make the game a bit more interesting.
#1 was very helpful, I was wondering why when I got that T3 perk that gave armor effects double the effect it didn't show on the armor but did on the character sheet. Definitely helped me out this time. Something so simple, yet makes a world of difference for how character progression feels. just a few points in handguns and you'll see it on your pistol now x.x bless your sweet souls, not used to ya'll hitting me with something I didn't actually know!
One tip to avoid an annoying bug until its fixed: save before you talk to Nyoka for the first time, because some dialog option will bug the quest (if you try to mansplain about cafeine)
As far as i know the gun only draws when opening doors with a controller because your reload is on the same button and so when you open a door/talk both that and the gun draw happens. However, the reload button does nothing with a melee weapon equipped so if you don't want to draw your weapons randomly just equip a sword or something and your interact button will only talk/open doors.
Another thing is "Tinker" at workbenches. I have the Xbox Ultimate Game Pass and knew I was going to play it day one, so I didn't really follow it too closely. I wanted to experience it with no preconceived ideas. Yesterday I was on the ship and decided to play around with it and did repair, mod, and breakdown. Then I saw "Tinker" and tried it out. OMG! This is a total game changer. Save some bits and "Tinker" away.

If you want to stop bringing your gun up when you interact, have a melee weapon holstered. No reload, so it stays down when pushing X/Square

another thing you didnt mention is if you want to free roam you can. You can also find quest items prior to ever starting the quest. You will hang onto them and once you start the dialogue for the quest, you will have the option to say "I already found that" or something along those lines.

The first 30-40 minutes of playing the game I wasn't sure if I was gonna like, but after playing for awhile I actually really really enjoy it. There are a few things I would tweak with the game but overall I have had so much fun and I've gotten so invested in my companions. They did a good job on this title, especially when the companions are so alert to all of the different places you take them. Awesome job on their part!

Tip - if you want all the loot, search every nook and cranny. There are a surprising amount of lootable containers, corpses, and random items laying around. Another tip - watch your enemy indicators. It's honestly a good heads up before you get ambushed. Third - use your melee weapon. At times the gun fire up close is too slow. Early on you can find some decent 1-handed melee weapons.

@@4everMayito yeah I accidentally fired a few times when I didn't mean to, luckily even shooting towards people doesn't seem to raise any concern if you miss.
When it comes to hard to reach stuff (although I do agree the dodge forward is a must) the classic Doom/Quake run, jump and crouch also serves as a solid secondary if you dont have the skill yet.
I found this game brand new for $5 in Puerto Rico a couple weeks ago on vacation, I had been putting off buying it. As soon as I saw it I snatched it, and as soon as I got back home I put it in my PS4 and been playing the hell out of it. Love it!

I think a couple people already touched on this, but the classic tip is a good one to add here: play through a mission, save a new save file, and you can go back at any time to try a different course. I do this before making any major decisions. You could play through the entire game and then play again by choosing a different option for a “what-if” scenario from any point in the game. I see a lot of re-play potential in this game.
I just finished my first playthrough yesterday and I have to say I love it and hope there's an eventual sequel. I never played Mass Effect so I can't compare it to that, but for me it feels like a combination of Fallout, Borderlands, and Knights of the Old Republic.

For console players if you don't want to pull out your weapon every time you interact with somebody or something, switch to a melee weapon before you put your weapon away and you won't pull out your weapon anymore.
On XBOX ONE you can put your weapon away by HOLDING DOWN THE X Button.

Before you put your weapon away by holding Square have your weapon be a melee weapon then put your weapon away
For your number 3 spot, that treasure you showed to be inaccessible is actually accessible just by jumping up the little metal parts infront of the entryway, you don't really need any specific skills upgraded/activated to get to it :)
Also you can unlock slots for your inhaler via the medical skill and the items you put in the slots automatically get used when you use the inhaler
Tip: Do every quest available!

I just got done playing this in legendary, I had a blast. Shooting npc’s and enemies in the game gives so much joy an satisfaction. None of the weapons have bugs and are very well balanced. I’m waiting for outer worlds 2 to come out.

For number 8, if you have a melee weapon equipped, after sheathing it. Using the interact button (either X or square) the melee weapon will not be unsheathed
I'm level 20 and not even at 50%. I say the combat is like fallout 4, the graphics, atmosphere and the aesthetics of every world is incredibly breathtaking. The story of each character is really complex and detailed, its like the NPC's story is one of the factors of this. My advice is to level up your dialog and stealth earlier in the game. Dialog is to pick special convo and farm expi, stealth is if you want low profile and will be easier to hack/lockpick as you progress. Loot everything, steal everything.

oddly enough some of the pc bugs made me feel like I was playing New Vegas again. My favorite is an npc was standing while clipping through the floor and bed of their house. Still less bugs than any Bethesda game though.

20 hours in and have encountered no bugs
Ive encountered a few UI bugs where menus or individual menu elements disappear or appear in the wrong place but thats it, and closing out of whatever menu it is and opening it up again always fixes it. Also a few graphics glitches when loading new areas or when extremely large objects are right at the corner of the screen. Nothing that has broken the game or anything approaching bethesda style stuff. The games been running for nearly 12 consecutive hours now with no instability or hint of a crash
I have around 10 hours on Xbox and the only bug I’ve run into was a single enemy that went invisible when he died, I couldn’t see the body but he was still lootable. (No he wasn’t an ash pile)
1 hour in on steam and I noticed I had no saves because of a glitch so I had to get a refund, but other than that great game for the short part I played
Increase Perception in the character creator, if you want more dialogue options. There's a lot of perception checks. Make sure you're on High.
Lone Wolf Perk + never bringing anyone along, increases your damage by 15%...great for Supernova and sniper rifles.
Don't worry about lock picking not being very high. A lot of the things you need, you can steal, and all of the guns and unique weapons, are found outside of boxes/lockers.
Parvati is best for melee with her speed perk. Preacher is best with a shotgun/ranged, Nyoka boosts your sneaking but realistically is a great ranged tank. Max is the best with launchers, Ellie is the best with Handguns, and SAM, well SAM is pretty useless, as 90% of the game is killing organics more than robots
Always blind in TTD, then cripple. Vermin (Pistol) comes with Knockout in TTD, literally knocks them down for a few seconds, very OP.
Take 1 flaw, to stay ahead of the Perk system, without being deathly "allergic" to everything else. What works for me best, is either fear of heights and or needing to eat more often.
Improvised weapon Perk (300% dmg) and a shovel, makes you Shovel god...sure its melee, but you'll be unstoppable.
Spent most of last night and today playing. I am hooked. If nothing else, I knew it would be a better experience than Fallout 76. I am not dissapointed. In fact, I am blown away.
The story is great! The setting and lore are amazing. And plenty of New Vegas call backs.

Pro Tip: If you give your character a flaw, they're stuck with it forever. Don't do what I did and give your character a fear of robots, since the Robot Companion is the best character in the game.

Also I think outer worlds it good but very over rated, people saying it’s the best RPG in years it’s not, try kingdom come deliverance, then come back to this, it feels like a shallow short experience.
Another tip for supernova: get science to 20. TINKER EVERYTHING. Seriously spend all your bits on it. Base line lets you increase an items level to yours +5. Runing around the first area in a lvl 12 suit of armor and lvl 12 plasma rifle made life hekka easier.
Love this game so much. Hopefully Obsidian can keep up the good work unlike every (almost) other developer nowadays
The tip were you can take off companion hats was super useful because the entire time I played I had to keep giving hats, or eyepatches

Idk I like this it's fun but it's not the best, new Vegas had a lot more choices and lasting impacts for joining and destroying factions, this has no lasting decisions besides the main storyline, getting faction rep doesn't do anything that I have noticed, no special armor or weapons or special interactions, the game kinda feels empty, but I enjoy the Firefly derived story
If you hold down the triangle button on the PS4 controller instead of pressing it, it brings up the weapon select wheel and if you hold down the square button it puts away all weapons, good if you find it odd to talk to characters with a weapon pointing at their face.

This game is hands down the best rpg in recent years, I’ve put so many hours in since I got off work yesterday. I can no doubt see myself replaying after I finish. Also the companions on the ship are hilarious mostly how they interact with each other and have super funny dialogue.
The very first thing, about showing stats for weapons and armor specific to your player, was by far the most valuable thing on the list for me. Thanks!
The Outer Worlds is an amazing RPG . I love how open ended it is . So far I haven't been able to put the game down and that's rare for a hard core gamer like me . I hope now that Microsoft has Obsidian Entertainment we get the long needed sequel or at least a remake of the fantastic action RPG Alpha Protocol this game was a fun game but was a bit under rated . If you guys have not played it yet. I highly recommend you doing so . It has so many choices and endings . It's worth it .

you can cancel your melee swing animation by tapping the sprint button, if you alternate swinging with sprinting you can swing your melee weapon pretty fast, works on pc at least

#1 was very helpful, I was wondering why when I got that T3 perk that gave armor effects double the effect it didn't show on the armor but did on the character sheet. Definitely helped me out this time. Something so simple, yet makes a world of difference for how character progression feels. just a few points in handguns and you'll see it on your pistol now x.x

One tip to avoid an annoying bug until its fixed: save before you talk to Nyoka for the first time, because some dialog option will bug the quest (if you try to mansplain about cafeine)

As far as i know the gun only draws when opening doors with a controller because your reload is on the same button and so when you open a door/talk both that and the gun draw happens. However, the reload button does nothing with a melee weapon equipped so if you don't want to draw your weapons randomly just equip a sword or something and your interact button will only talk/open doors.

I have the Xbox Ultimate Game Pass and knew I was going to play it day one, so I didn't really follow it too closely. I wanted to experience it with no preconceived ideas. Yesterday I was on the ship and decided to play around with it and did repair, mod, and breakdown. Then I saw "Tinker" and tried it out. OMG! This is a total game changer. Save some bits and "Tinker" away.
