Hi guys!! Thanks for stopping by :) I just filmed an updated video tutorial for these Roasted Lamb Shanks. Here's that link: th-cam.com/video/DAL23pjdAqc/w-d-xo.html
My husband is Greek and since I ve found your channel I have been able to cook to his palet and I m enjoying it too. Thanks for sharing you wonderful recipes.
Dimitra- we made this and it came out so inexplicably delicious, like we never ever would’ve guessed the taste of lamb shanks would be elevated to this height! Thank you for posting and sharing this! Greetings from Istanbul! ❤️
I really don't get negative comments, If you don't like something alter a recipe to your tastes! I cooked this dish and it was absolutely delicious, the lamb fell off the bone. The only change I made was to add some potatoes in to it, Amazing dish.
Dimitra's Dishes thank you for the great recipe. My husband and I just had a Valentines dinner. I steamed potato and added to the meat with all the juice was so good. The only thing I didn't pour enough water so wasn't enough juice and garlic got black. Anyway was Soooo delicious ❤️❤️thank you
I've made this recipe twice, once for my family of three and the second time for a gathering of about 20 people. It was so delicious and everyone absolutely love it! This is the only way I'll eat lamb shanks. I don't eat meat much now but whenever I'm in the mood, this will always be my go to recipe. The meat falls rights off the bone and the lemon juice cuts through the gamey fat. Thanks for the recipe Dimitra!
Dimitri, I made this the other night for my family and they went nuts over this recipe. I used your baked orzo as a side. My husband is Greek he loved it!!! Especially the hint of hot pepper which when he noticed me adding it, said "are you sure you know what you're doing?" Lol His mom never used hot pepper. Thank you for this and the orzo recipe. Simple to put together yet delicious. Bravo Koukla!!!
I've only discovered you recently....and what a glorious privileged! ALL your recipe's turn out exactly as you promise on the video. The lamb was FANTASTIC!! Thanks a million times.
Dimitra, I am lost for words........i can just imagine myself sharing this meal, with good friends and quality Ouzo by the sea on the island of Santorini.......Keep up the good work!
Hi Dimitra, love your recipes. I remember my grandmother making this, though once she removed the lamb from the tapsi, she would add in some red wine, a little bit more water and chuck in either thin pasta or asteraki, and allow this to cook in the oven. She would then lay this down on a plate and serve the lamb on-top of it. Her side dish would be a simple mixed variety tomato & fennel salad with the lathi, oregano, and white wine vinegar, to help cut through the heaviness and richness of the lamb.
I used to holiday on the Greek islands back in the late 80's and the food that was been served in restaurants & taverns was very memorable and was one of the highlights of the holidays .
Yes, they did! I grilled them first to char the skin then covered them in a pan like you did. It was the first time I made them and they turned out great thanks to you! Many happy returns! Cheers!
Have you ever thought of having a restaurant chain? i have been around Greek food all my life and you have some of the best reciepe's i have ever seen I am not kidding You have a gift and your video's are not too long for what you are doing . Do you have a cookbook out? If not you should consider doing one.
Love your videos, and talk as much as you like! We enjoy watching and listening to you :) I made your melomakarona for Christmas, and they came out AMAZING! Thank you!

Hi Dimitra, I made this recipe for my family and they all loved it as well as me. It was so delicious. Everyone in my family WhatsApp group was asking for recipe so i send them the link and they all will follow your recipes. I also made your roasted vegetables it was very nice. Tnx for the lovely recipes
Amazing! Looking forward to making lamb shanks using your recipe. The roasted vegetables were a great side choice. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes.
Thank you so much for this video. I would not know what to do with a lamb shank. Now I can begin to broaden my meat selections from just chick, beef, and pork. I will check out your website because I need to learn how to prepare roasted vegetables as well. Thanks again.
This came out soo good thr very first time i tried making. Your dishes and receipes are so simple and extremely delicious.. thanks so much.. your amazing !!
Basically I love this recipe. Whenever cooking meat and especially lamb, I like to marinate it over night before cooking. I will try the recipe replacing the water with a dry white wine and adding a sprig or two of thyme before covering the pan with foil for the final baking. I will also make the baked veggies using cubed root vegetables, which can be quite colorful.
Thank you for sharing this recipe...all my favorite ingredients! Looking forward to making, serving and especially eating the lamb shanks! :-) I'm a huge garlic fan as well. I'm the seasoning Queen so it's a dish I already have everyone to prepare. Love your name...mine is Demetria. :-)
You have almost the same name. My father's from Ivory Coast in West Africa and we share the same family name with his (greek) friend's uncle. His friend from Greece and He are both Seamen (Captain).)))
Love the spellings in comments... Dimita, Dimititria, Dimitri... such variety! This recipe is great. We don't use all the garlic, chile and honey in Crete, but I'm trying to get the family to be more adventurous. Love the gigantes.and feta.
