The old tells a much more interesting story. The way his eye flickers when he says "This isn't a game" and then almost mockingly goes back to using the word ",;,;g/Am3" through the song with a smile is amazing.
Plus, GF isn't there, so it adds a strange level of unspoken depth like... where is she? Is she okay? Who knows!
The sudden spike into the giant ball just feels detracting and strange. It's lot a plot hole we skimmed over for rule of cool, and it isn't even that cool.
I think a fusion of these two should be perfect.
When his eyes flicker, the shield be formed, and when he sings he should bounce around inside, as if trying to break out, and every time he says game he should have a unique animation like when Tankman says "Ugh," which instead of a silly ugh face it could be an emotional double fisted bang on the shield, like he's banging on glass-as if he's trying to break the shield while desperately his other side is trying to get his point across as his head jumps above water to gasp another breath of sanity before being plunged back under.
I agree with you, if you combine all the chips and features of both versions, you will get just a candy 🔥🔥🔥And adding small details would only make the mod better

I definitely don't like how the shield is just kind of suspended in air but maybe that's just me
One thing that was great too, in my opinion, is the part after Spinel finishes talking. The corruption blob is still there, which I'd say would be great. Wish it was a bit further back from BF but whatever.
Old definitely better. The animations have him more movement, the shield flickers in after the silence in the beginning, not to mention the shield has a better sprite, he has an animation before going pink. Spinel's presentation is better, and Steven actually joins in for Spinel's part as well, plus there's no GF which adds the feeling that there's no help you're gonna get here.

I definitely prefer the old one. *Gf isn't there* (giving you a vibe like "what happened to her?" And "I won't be getting any help this time"), *Steven's animation at "THIS ISN'T A GAME"* (You can see the pupils in his eyes for a second which is realistic since he is a diamond and should be powerful enough to break free. It makes it feel like this isn't some fake patsy Steven but the REAL one we know and love except corrupted, giving more of an element of fear. It also manages to make this much more sad, making what he's saying sound less like a threat or an angry/scary outburst and more like he's scared and using all his strength to try to warn you to run which is something the real Steven aka the martyr we know and love would do.), *the black screen when spinel is talking before singing* (it's kind of awkward with spinel moving around weirdly like that. It also feels like more of a reveal almost like she's emerging from the virus), *Steven and spinel singing together* (the audio has them both singing just like in the old one but you only see spinel singing in the new one for some reason. It's also weird that Steven would move out of the way and stop attacking just to give Spinel a turn like "oh my bad bro even though we would be more powerful if we both attacked at the same time instead of taking turns I'll give you the stage lol"), ,etc(I'll add more later). The only things better about the new one are the glitch/black goop effects for the Steven sprites, the lighting effects/trail of light coming from the spinel's scythe in her sprites, and how much neater the lineart is for the Steven and Spinel sprites
*Overall, what's supposed to make this scary is the fact that we are aware that this isn't just some thing, Steven is a big and wholesome part of all our childhoods, and taking something we enjoy and twisted in the most vile way possible, we get to feel sad that he got taken and feel bad for him 'cause you can tell he's scared and fighting as hard as he can to save Bf/Pibby. In the new one, that feeling just isn't there for me, because my mind doesn't recognize this as the real Steven fighting, it recognizes it as a "something" trying to mimic him. Horror doesn't scare people if it doesn't feel real.*

I like to think that steven is trying to make an enhanced bubble to trap the corrupted ones in the vicinity
But since corrupted Steven is still mostly in control he added spikes to either impale bf or he wants to break out of the bubble that normal Steven made

I like the old cause it actually has an animation for the “THIS ISNT A GAME” part making Steven normal for half a second

Not only that but the old one ALSO showed Steven and Spinel singing together while in the new one it's just Spinel singing both her and Steven's notes.

i still like the mid effort one because 1: steven sings with spinell like the voices do
2: its hp drain isnt as overpowered
3: it has animations for when he says "this isnt a game"
4: spinell doesnt weirdly wave her scythe around during the talking sequence because she just appears after it like its a suprise

*In my opinion, I like the old, here's why:*
Notice Boyfriend, he causally rapping with corrupted Steven. But when Steven says "THIS ISN'T A GAME", you can notice BF's smile turned into a frown.
It's like Steven's trying to slap BF out of it.
It's not a happy-go-lucky thing. It's something worse. They need to stop it.
Maybe in the new version, they could make BF smile rapping like normal until the "This Isn't A Game" part, instead of making him frown for the entire song.
Its everyone's opinion. Old is just better.

I believe Steven isn't fully corrupted, since he says stuff like "This isn't a game!" and also the fact that not all of his notes are glitched.

I think he’s not corrupted but his gem is so the corruption is using his gem half and when Steven talks in the notes he almost breaks free but then gets pushed back down and if it was just the corruption and not his gem half his body would be pink witch is the corrupted side and then one is normal with a bubble fist trying to punch himself to take back control of his body and at the end of the song he finally breaks free then spinel appears as the second song and she’s glitching like a person trying to talk ina video game and the notes are corrupted intill you hear a soft spinal voice say “why do I wanna hurt you” then cuts back to corrupted notes then threw out the rest of the song spinel says “Steven help me”
I like old one better because when steven says “THIS ISN’T A A GAME” he goes back to normal before turning pink and go back into corruption and what I also like about the old version is whenever it’s spinel’s turn it everything goes black and we just hear spinel’s voice giving it a “spinel, is that you?” Feeling
I only like how Steven goes in the bubble in the new one. Old one did everything else better. Animation, charting, Spinel doesn't just appear over Steven, it cuts to black and swaps them and their icons, and it animates them singing together instead of spinel with Steven's voice
The bubble part was actually kinda my least favorite part ;; but thats just me!

Ok these are two completely different mods, the quality of the art tracing and the charting are really different.
Also old is better, I don't even have nostalgia I just consider it better due to how it does everything
The if the "new" one isn't by the same person then that means that the creator of the "new" stole 2 sprite sheets. Steven inside the giant spike ball and pibby next to Boyfriend.
And those 2 sprite sheets are from 2 separate mods

Nobody talking about how Steven's shield in the old one comes out when its suppose to, and the new one just has it, also I like in the old one spinel has a entrance instead of just appearing there.
I like the Old Spinel, the elasticity she gets deforms her body and that's good, since the corruption does that to other characters in "cannon" (like Velma, Shaggy and Scooby), Steven on the other hand is still intact, maybe he's still a liiiiiittle bit in control of his body but enough for him to speak and maintain his body in place
Lil note here: Spinel is also elastic without the corruption. You can see her deform her body in many different ways in the movie
these are my opinions on the old and new one !

honestly the old one had some of its glitchy parts, but short animations is completely *AMAZING!!*
when there was a black out and spinel came it was completely underrated in my opinion !
no arrows were moving but still it was stunnin !
*NEW*
it had a huge improvement ! the moving arrows just made it harder and way more fun ! when steven came with that pink spikey ball, I actually was impressed ! I was kinda upset that new one didnt get to do that transition from the old one when spinel came out, overall the new one was amazing !

I feel like the black out transition that i was talking about should had stayed since I really like it !

There's so many differences but the old is so much better with telling plot, while the art on the other one is great. I love the old one for it's creepy spinel sprites and the fact that steven snaps out for a second just to yell at boyfriend "This isn't a game-" before going back to his shit eating spooky grin, while the other gets into a weird spike ball. Not to mention the fact that steven turns pink and gets his shield when he yells, while the other he has it all the time. There's just so many differences i don't know what to say
The spike ball is another one of his defenses in the show. I think it would be cooler if they kinda merged together and he snapped back and then went into the bubble shield

I have a theory that well Steven is not fully corrupted like we see in the old one he says this isn’t a game while going back to normal for a second and a really interesting key point to the original plot of the movie spinel uses her scythe on Steven but because he’s a half human he only return to the power set to not being able to control his shield and stuff like that so maybe the glitch or whatever got a hold of spinel to restraint Steven knowing that he could eventually break out
i havent watched steven universe but that seems like a good theory
Honestly I agree whith you fully and I find it quite a corinsadis that in the movie he's half human so the rejuvanater dosent effect but since he's half gem the curoptetoin doesn't effect him as much but you know who can stop Steven's gem side that's right spinel so spinel can limit his gem side so he doesn't escape and 10/10 theory

Poor Steven, he was minding his own business but then the glitch came and he soon got corrupted.. it’s sad that in the new ones, there are some normal arrows that resemble Steven trying to fight back..

Overall the old one is better, I like the fact in the new one there’s sometimes the normal arrows appears, probably to represent that Steven is fighting back.
Edit: there’s also some in the spinel part, which I find werid since knowing spinel she would just give in to become stronger. UNLESS this is the Steven after the movie. If this in the beginning then yeah, she would just give in. But if it’s after the movie then I understand the normal arrows appearing.
The old one simply does things too well compared to the new one, it's better even if the new one has a more polished lineart, a combination of both would definitely be the best version.
1:04 I like to think that in the new version when steven says "This isnt a game" and then a shield forms, is steven taking a bit of control to stop Corrupted Steven from hurting the two but since Corrupted Steven is still mostly in control, he adds the spikes while trying to break out.

I think normal steven is trying to expand the shield to block all the corrupted ones in the vicinity

1:04 was my favorite part I think the old had better animation while the new has a better style and has more gimmicks making it feel more complete
For the full mod I think there would be around 7 weeks and each one having an ending
the first week could just be bf meeting Pibby
then cutscene bf and gf end up loosing each other
week 2 bf fights fin and Jake while finding gf and plans to help save everybody
week 3 could be shaggy or gumball
week 4 could be Steven but i feel like they should keep the "this isn't a game" animation from the old mid effort because it adds alot of detail to it
week 5 could be flint stones maybe not sure up to the dev's.
week 6 could be pico to tho but I'm not sure.
week 7 maybe will be Pibby's rabbit friend (idk the name of the rabbit lol)
Extra notes and ideas from me:
I feel like bf should have a gun and pibby could help bf regain hp if hes doing terrible. And maybe have like 3 tries to hit the dodge notes and then you die so if you miss them pibby helps regain hp.
Bf could use the gun to damage the corruption on the characters but im not sure. the ending to the mod could just be bf getting corrupted if you dont nearly save every single person in the week (What I mean by that is shoot the characters until a certain point or shoot them around like 10 times maybe??) then it plays a little cutscene for the good and bad ending to the mod

I love the old and new versions of this I feel as if there are stuff from the old version that can be used, and also from the new version.
when steven turns pink and is escaping from the glitch, all his notes turn corrupt, its like the glitch is trying to reclaim steven
in my opinion i like the old one because Spinel's entrance creeps me out when i first watched this TvT (bad grammar)
In order to actually have a say while being corrupted by this corruption, you'll need a huge amount of willpower and determination. by what I know (my personal opinion).

It's just the way they made her limbs looks more eerie, it can make you think of what she could do, in the movie we can already see she can easily manipulate them into something that can outmatch gems that have experience with fights unlike Spinel which was presumably her first battle
I prefer the old one when Spinel and Steven where both singing at the same time and Girlfriend was out of the picture and the arrows weren’t moving making things more confusing plus they showed Pink Steven which is freaking awesome! :D

Old one feels better cause the new just kinda teleports everything together
Why old is better:
1. Steven not having shield at the beggining.
2. Steven animation when he goes pink (It isn't a game)
3. BF becoming stressed AFTER Steven sayd "It isn't a game".
4. Spinnel introduction.
Worth mentioning is that gf is not there.
Currently there are 3 versions of this mod and they are: The original which uses a rather curious type of engine, the stage is located in a cave with crystals and Bf has a design that seems to have been fighting carrying a submachine gun. The old one where he uses The engine that we all know, the stage is located on a somewhat strange beach (at least I think that's it) and Bf, although it is the normal one, it shows between worried and scared, it has good details such as when Steven turns pink and for a moment to normal saying "this is not a game", when spinel is speaking in the dark that the vast majority will have been surprised and when steven and spinel sing together it looks better than in the original. finally the new one that is located in the drill where steven and spinel fight in the film adding that it has the detail that steven is inside a ball of spikes when he says "this is not a game" in addition to a very good quality in the glyhes If we combine the designs of the original, the striking details and moments of the old, the place where it is located and the best overall quality of the new one, we would have a great mod of steven corrupted by the glich Anyway, that's my opinion of how I see if the 3 versions were combined, my favorite version is the old one and well I say goodbye, take care of yourself.
The old one is so mysterious and has more "personality" to it. It is more pleasing to watch and I'm not 100% sure why.

Bruh this is the reason i started watching steven universe on HBO MAX.
I like this mod alot! But maybe if you put the new mods art style and the old mods scenes this would be gold. But that just my opinion.
I like Steven going into a spiked bubble in the new version (perhaps Steven's effort to protect boyfriend and pibby from the virus), but I also like the animation in the old version where he has enough will to overpower the virus, even for a second, to warn boyfriend.
When Steven goes Pink I feel like he’s trying to warn Pibby and The Boyfriend that this isn’t a joke
It actually makes sense that “the glitch” could invade games such as fnf because I’d like to think that once it swallows up all our favorites cartoons it’ll come after all animation. Striking at the core which is TH-cam and tiktok. I wouldn’t be surprised if the later pibby episodes explore this idea that “the glitch”’s hunger for anything with more than one frame. Like just imagine that black soupy mass just absolutely obliterating games like fnaf and mortal kombat. I’m so excited for more episodes!!

In my head Canon both Steven and the gems , Spinel got corrupted trying to save Beach City from the glitch , yeah it doesn't make sense since the Rejuvenator should be broken but let's say it didn't get broken and it got hidden away

To be onist I like these but I like the version of corrupted Steven were he's eyes are not comply white were you can see him trying to break out of the glitch and at the end it sound like Steven is having trouble staying together Steven has a good heart and that's what fighting the corruption but spinel did not have a pure heart as you can see in the new one you can see the big machine that is drilling in the earth that means spinel wanted revange so she could not fight it idk tell me what you think of this to be this is one of my favorite songs ever

I prefer the old version, it has more details than the new one, but both are very good!
one thing i do enjoy about the new one is that in spinel’s intro thing where she speaks she actually shows up while in the old one the screen is just black which isnt as fun, the rest of the details and such are better in the old tho imo

I prefer the old one it actually has a story for why Steven says it isn’t a game instead of him just randomly going into a ball form. Also gives context on when spinel comes in and bf taunting Steven. ALSO includes Steven and spinel singing together.

I think old is better because i like the "cutscenes" and the local they are singing and spinel appears with the Black glitch on the ground and appears after her voicelines and i think the old chart could be harder, and add the other musics of new version and Steven could be with spinel when It appears

I like the "old" one better because it's a lot less janky, unlike with the new one, its snappy and, phase changes don't look good, And, the mini-cutscene of Steven saying "This isn't a game" with the "old" sold me into liking the old one better, as Bf's model also changes, into an uncomfortable look

old it's better because there was animation there, but in the new one it was simply removed (turning on the shield) and when the duet of Steven and spinel, Steven sang in the old one and he does not sing in the new one and the fact that he said this is not a game is also suitable for the old, and this proves that he is not completely infected yet
