When I first heard of absolute batman I wrote him off because of the inital cover. Than after seeing Jim Lees version I was intrigued. Im glad I bought it.
Here's my take on Absolute Batman. DC said that this is a Batman "Without the mansion... without the money... without the butler...". I was expecting a Batman with limited resources, and has to use proper detective ingenuity to get things done, as well as knocking out a bad guy, which he does well in Absolute Batman #1, but he seems well off with no financial issues, has the physique to beat down anyone big and small, has all the gadgets he needs to get out of scrape, why should I care about this Batman other than "rule of cool". Don't know whether I'll continue or not, I really shouldn't if I'm not enjoying it, but I'll check out issue 2 nonetheless.
If they really wanted to do something different, they should stop creating crappy new characters and calling them Batman, Superman or Spider-Man. They know these books can't stand on their own. My .02
My review was more favorable than yours but I feel vindicated as I agree about the ax on his chest and the alfred info dump. Im excited for issue 2, but I dont see myself buying 30 of these either.

It sounds like, as the kids say, mid.
More comic reviews, as long as it is not a lot of marvel!
Im not feeling it, arts good but the designs suck, the axe head is ridiculous, the body build is silly, not for me
More comic reviews. This to me is titled wrong should have be Desperate DC: Batman. It's not Batman, its certainly not something I was looking for.
