My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.

I'm Jamaican haven't been to Africa but, Kenya is number 1 for me. I've watched how Kenyans have treated Jamaican musicians like long lost family and have been simply amazed. No other African country treats Jamaicans like Kenyans. And the reactions of Jamaicans in Kenya is pure love.

That is 92% import duty on item you just bought overseas. This has happened not even long ago. Just a week ago. I imported steel bars from China only to be slapped with this abnormal duty charges in Ghana, $18000 ( Solid American Dollars). Ghana is so corrupt beyond repair, if still doubt me, please go on TH-cam and compare prices of goods and services, compare real estates. While you can buy a very nice house in good neighborhoods in Kenya for say $150,000, to $300,000, the same in somehow average neighborhoods in Ghana, will triple the the price if not quadruple.

Talking about seasons, Nairobi being located near the equator and at an elevation of 1600 m above sea level tends to have cooler temperatures at night hovering between 12 to 15 degrees centigrade while the maximum temperature hovers between 23 in the coolest month of June July August and around 28 degrees during December, January and February. So basically, the seasons are not distinct as you find it in the northern hemisphere or southern hemisphere. What is different is some months are drier than others. This time of the year is supposed to be cooler and drier that the rest of the year.

Glad you enjoyed your visit, karibu tena Kenya (Welcome again to Kenya). The reason why you'd think you are seeing lots of older cars is because Kenyan's mindset about money is a bit different from many other countries. First, the Kenyan culture teaches one to be modest. Secondly, Kenyans are very industrious, and they believe in accumulating wealth. Kenyans invest heavily in land and businesses. Every adult Kenyan either owns a business or is thinking of owning one, regardless of their employment status. Thirdly, majority of those people you see driving old cars are quite loaded. It's a very common thing in Kenya to see millionaires driving beaten cars. And BTW, at the point you are talking about cars, you are more than 5KM away from the city Centre...next time we'll show you the city center (and a visit to Kenya is never complete without a taste of Nairobi nightlife, anyone visiting should plan for that too😅)

    • @patrickmwangi4717

He wasn't quite right. Matatus began in the late 60s and early 70s. The original fare on most routes was 30 cents (mapeni matatu). 30 cents was the 3 big brown coins with Jomo Kenyatta's head. Not sure if they still exist today coz I been away for too long. So the name MATATU is actually from the 30 cents not 3 shillings. Back then 3 shillings was a lot of money so a matatu fare could not be 3 shillings.
Fast forward to the 80s, they were nicknamed Ma-threes (Ma3s).
In the 90s they became "MATS". Cool MATS were identified as Manyangas and boring MATS were known as wangora. From early 2000s they began getting pimped with high tech.
