Thank you for the video. Oddly, you help me to realize it was the key. I bought this car not to long ago for my son and the seller gave me too keys and one of them is just good for opening the door because it is a plain key with no chip. I recovered the key and it crank right up. Thanks again.

INFO: my dad is a 25+ year mechanic and we had a 30+ year nissan tech come and look at it.
Replaced the head gasket (I replaced the head bolts with ARP branded ones) and after it would crank but ran really rough. I made sure the the head and block were perfectly flat cause they can warp when overheating which was my original issue. I made sure that I set the timing perfect. Then it went into NATS and I had to send the ECM to a place to remove NATS. Then it wouldnt start at all unless we unplugged the crank sensor. Bought a new cam and crank sensor, new coils etc. After this the coils started to literally explode. The nissan tech said hes only seen the coils explode on 2 cars due to the wiring harness wearing out and starting to short somewhere. I checked the harness with no signs of shorting. Even bought an oscilloscope to make sure the coils worked right and they were running fine. My only thought is that maybe the timing is half a tooth off causing it to sometimes runs but bogs down at higher RPM. Ive spent 50+ hours trying to figure it out. Also each cylinder had perfect compression. Before all this bs happened it was eating coolant cause of the head gasket so I took it to the dealer which they said I needed a new valve cover gasket which made me facepalm a bit but I said fuck it just to prove they were fucking stupid. They ran the car with the valve cover off and said they put new coolant in it. I got a mile down the road and the fucker overheated cause they lied and the radiator was completely empty and dry.

So I drove my 05 Altima 3.5 the other day home. It upshifted then died. Would crank but wouldn’t start. I went to autozone to get a crankshaft position sensor, installed it and still same symptoms. Cranks but doesn’t run. I just read your comment about disconnecting it and sure enough it started but ran rough. Then died again!
I assume get a sensor from the dealership?!

I have an 05 Nissan Altima, and I having these same issues. I added a new fuel pump in there myself, new camshaft/crankshaft sensors, new thermostat (needed to change it anyway), and I was getting the same crank/no start issue - except it wanted to start but looked like it wasn't getting any spark. So the only resolutions that I can think of are either the PCV valve, the fuel injectors need to be clean, or the Ignition coils need to be replaced - since it started back up after buying a new ignition coil that wasn't providing spark. Then the car reverted to not starting back up after I turned the car off to get gas.

You said flat head screwdriver, push it in and spray starting fluid, you mean push in the butterfly valve inside the throttle body? Would this require a throttle relearn if it did start? Also, spark plugs and ignition coil generally wouldn't cause an engine shut off while driving, then crank and no start...any other recommendations? Cam and crank pos sensors have already been replaced, still no start. And my understanding is that the fuel pump doesn't usually die while vehicle is driving, it's usually after a shut off it won't start back up. I'm stumped and been trying to fix my daughter's 05. Pump hums when ignition turned to on. This momma is getting frustrated

I checked the fuel pump and gushes out like a fire hose . Works fine.

I had an intermittent crank-no-start situation that turned out to be a bad cam or crankshaft sensor (I can't remember which one) ... but it wouldn't let the engine ignite. It would just flub out. It sounded like it was choking or not getting enough gas. It turned out that the sensor had been recalled from but no one had ever changed it. I bought the car used after the recall period was closed.

You could have mentioned "no compression" will cause a no start condition, as is my case because my friend ran the car with no coolant until the head warped and the engine shut down leaving him stranded. The give away was he mentioned that when he stopped there was "oily" smoke billowing from the engine, and when I arrived to help him 15 minutes later there was no coolant on the ground, nor in the engine, so he'd run out miles back and just kept driving until it died...
