I have a 981 Boxster GTS because of the sound. Jesus Christ it’s almost Group B electric. My brother has just driven it and was on a driving trip around Ireland and he said there were other GT4s and they are not a patch on this sound wise. Great video.

Meiner Ansicht nach das beste Fahrzeug das Porsche in den letzten Jahren gebaut hat - vor allem in Bezug auf das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis. Leider bin ich wohl nicht der einzige der das so sieht, deshalb sind die Dinger auch mega wertstabil.
Ja ich finde auch der Cayman ist mittlerweile das was eigentlich die Idee des Sportwagens Porsche war. Der 911 ist zwar auch geil aber viel zu schwer und "luxuriös"

Definitely agree that the 981's sound sooooo much better than the 718's which sound like a Subaru.
I never knew with the PDK transmission that in sport/manual mode it will bounce off the rev limiter until you shift.
I always thought the computer shifted for you when you neared the red line.

Also ich habe den neuen 718 S und bin begeistert. Der Sound mit dem Brombacher Auspuff ist der Hammer und zudem hat der GTS in Sachen Power und Handling keine Chance. Porsche hatte früher schon Vierzylinder und da hat auch niemand gemeckert. Die Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Lasst doch die Leute einfach Freude haben an schönen Dingen, die ihnen gefallen. Wieso gibt es so viele unzufriedene Menschen, die alles schlecht machen müssen?

Der Klang ist scheiße. Früher hat keiner gemeckert weil es noch keinen flachen 6er gab, also nichts besseres. Das wäre als würde man sagen früher hat auch keiner über 144p Kameras bei nem Handy gemeckert...
TheFuriousB Sehe das ganz genauso. Ich verkaufe nächstes Jahr meinen A45 und hole mir den 718GTS. Vorallem ist der 718 wesentlich schneller(Turbo halt)
Terry Billy mach das echt! Ich habe seit einem Monat den 718gts und bin mehr als begeistert von diesem Auto. Der Sound ist garnicht so schlecht alle die das Schreiben haben ihn nie live gehört

What I'm trying to figure out is how I can make my 987.2 3.4 pdk sound like this it's basically the same 3.4 dfi engine , just love the back burbles pops and bangs it's all going on , where there's a will there's a way I'm sure of it , any ideas folks ???

It’s the Porsche Sport Exhaust, PSE which will fit your car too, About $2500 new as an option. Get one on EBay.

It's probably installed by the exhaust. I have this car, one can rarely hear the backfire in the cabin even with the roof open.

Das sieht mir stark nach der Leder/Alcantara Serienausstattung aus, wie kannst du da Sitzlüftung haben? Das geht bei Alcantara Sitzen doch garnich....
Die Alcantara-Sitze sind abgewählt und durch "normale" Sportsitze ersetzt (inkl. Sitzbelüftung)
freekickerz Ok, ich wusste nicht dass das geht. Hab damals sehr lange im Konfigurator verbracht aber Ledersitze nur in Verbindung mit einer Vollederausstattung (ohne Alcantara) bekommen...find ich gut, dass man auch Sitzlüftung mit Alcantara haben kann

so wie du den fährst is der motor bald hinüber. du schaltest auf manuell, lässt ihn dann bis in den begrenzer reindrehen, klar, der motor schaltet ab, aber er kann das natürlich nicht sofort. somit kommt es zu sogenanntem "überschwingen" des motors, wodurch dieser sicher nicht besser wird ;)
und bevor du mit "Porsche Approved" oder so kommst, google mal "111 Punkte Check" ;)

Kann man dieses Auspuffgebratzel beim Lastwechsel eigentlich auch deaktivieren!? Finde es irgentwie peinlich so innerorts unterwegs zu sein. Kommt irgentwie rüber wie Halbstarker Autoposer. Auf Landstraße und AB find ich es jedoch oke...

What do you mean better, 981 GTS Sounds like a Porsche, 718 sounds like most sports cars today, well they don't sound, they just release some nonsense usual engine noise from the 4 cylinders.

I would get tired of that off-throttle noise real quick. In fact, I've heard enough to last me a lifetime just watching this video. I do appreciate the unrestricted sound while the revs build though.
I doubt this is stock exhaust. I Drove 981 Cayman GTS and while it does produce pops qnd crackles it's not nearly as frequent or loud as this video.
@@krelshell4 it is stock. When you’re not in sport or sport plus mode, there are no crackles btw, so you can turn it off but you won’t be driving in the most aggressive mode. I also thought I’d get bored of it after a while, but I didn’t. Always keep it on.
@@yeahrightyyy owned one now for a couple of years. Cayman 981 GTS. Still not as much crackles as this video even on sport and sport plus. If I'm driving on the most aggressive mountain road then I'd get louder pops but still not as frequent as these. Tracked it a couple of times still the same observation

I've always previously been a manual fan, but I can't say I agree here. I have PDK/Chrono and it's fantastic. It's great flipping the paddles, or just letting PDK do it's stuff.

Naja, ist halt ein 4 Zylinder, eigentlich ganz logisch. Aus einem Puma kann man halt keinen Tiger machen. Würde mir jemand einen 718er schenken, würde ich den verkaufen, ohne dass ich mich einmal reinsetzen würde. Lächerlicher Sound, hat nichts mit Porsche zu tun. Und kosten tut er auch noch merh wie der Vorgänger (logisch). Der 6 Zylinder ist unschlagbar. Man sollte bei seiner Kernkompetenz bleiben...Prost

Also wenn ich mir das Video ansehe bzw. ANHÖRE bin ich doch sehr froh über den Sound meines 718 GTS! Einfach nur schrecklich und proletenhaft LAUT! Ja... meiner ehemaliger c63 (mit dem tatsächlichen Hubraum) hatte eine Klappenanlage. Das war noch purer Sound. Aber das hier ist nur KRACH!!!
Übrigens... das gleich dumme gelabere wie damals als Porsche von der Luft auf Wasserkühlung gewechselt ist. Da wollte auch keiner mehr einen Porsche kaufen. Darum geht es dem Hersteller ja auch sooo schlecht.
Yeah it MIGHT sound better but the 718 is a much better car in handling, performance and acceleration as well as a much better PCM system.

It doesn't! 718 is a big step forward in every way including sound. But I have to admit I would be very happy with "old" GTS.

hatte den cayman s 981 und bin auch den 718s gefahren.
Sound und Emotion geht klar an den 981.
Beim 718s hast halt dafür nen geilen Turbo punch. Fühlt sich auf jeden fall kräftiger an durch das früh anliegende drehmoment. In etwa vergleichbar mit dem standart 911er.
Den 981 musst halt drehen lassen wie sau, dann geht der aber auch richtig gut

If you race cars for a living, then the 718 has better lap times, no disputing that. Just watch out for launch control stalls...lol
I test drove both and couldn't wait to return the keys of the 718, so underwhelming was the sound.
My 981 Cayman S PDK had the ecu remapped to 364hp, 420Nm, 0-100km/h 3.89sec...plenty fast, on stock air filters and exhaust manifolds, 32mm exhaust bypass, hair trigger throttle response, pulls strongly all the way from 3000rpm to redline with no flat spot..... with that never-ending intoxicating NA flat 6 wail.
Cost? A mere A$1900. Best option Porsche never included. I laugh every time I drive, city or highway. A 911 Carrera 3.4l performance at half the price!! Sorry to tell you, but the 718 sounds like the world's fastest (and most expensive) lawnmower...chuff- chuff- chuff -chuff...(gear change)..chuff-chuff-chuff-chuff..cough - cough.......not "sporty" at all, for my money.

it does have GPS, but nobody likes to use it. Because it doenst have car play and doesnt update on current traffic conditions where as the 718 does due to having a revised centre console. But obviously sounds very controversial (or shit, whatever floats the boat lol)
It does update on traffic conditions all the time... I was going from Italy to UK on a busy day and had the update notifications literally in my ear ever 10 minutes for half a day due to constant jams on the Autobahns. It also updates constantly in the city, e.g. when I am stuck in busy London traffic, it can go off every few minutes. I just watched another GTS video and noticed that the Satnav can display a 3D map... lol, I never knew that... will have to check it out, but I feel the 2D is actually more accessible. I am also not sure why "nobody" likes it. It beats a smart phone hands down. For starters, you have a bigger screen, but the real benefit is that as relevant points come up along your journey, the multifunction display in the dash will turn in to Sat Nav mode temporarily displaying a second zoomed in map, that is really nice because it does not divert your attention that much as looking at e.g. a phone. Also, you don't have to pay so much attention because as long as it does not make itself present in the secondary dash display, it means you just go straight on for the time being.
It is also very precise and speedy with its updates; and the presentation of the road layout and where you are supposed to go is really good. It is a good Satnav, just fucking expensive and there have been no map updates during the past 3 years.
Baerchenization it updates? Aside from highways, it never updates on mine. And the highway updates are too slow. Google is just much faster. And it's always suggesting a different path than Google for me. And Google always ends up faster. At the end of the day I'd just rather have some sort of car play
It updates the route information and it announces that with computer voice as well. All I can say it works for me in all countries I've been to. Which country are you in?
Baerchenization Canada, I've never had any of those voices you mentioned. Nor does it update. Sometimes I see a green or red strip on highways telling me if it's congested. But other than that nothing suggests it to do anything else so I always use my phone
