Su's breath-control is insane. When I heard this on the album for the first time I immediately thought this would be hard as hell to perform live and here she is making it look easy. Sorry I ever doubted.

Man the autotuned part is still pre-recorded, nobody can sing like that, maybe some fantastic singers, but it is clearly not natural voice. :D Between 2:10 and 2:52 it is clearly pre-recorded, the other parts are her real voice you hear.

    • @chgonzalez

@@Chibanah It's just her voice with some effects on it and some prerecorded harmonies here and there. You can compare it with other lives. At least 90% is live.

Personally, I think their biggest strength as an attention grabber might be the gap between idol/J-pop and metal. But it wouldn't have worked as well if Kobametal finding talented, passionate & hardworking people to work on the project, especially Su-metal's voice and stage presence and how amazing they are at delivering it all live. That's their secret, deliver it as best as possible to make the silly idea actually work. Which is why it's been hard to replicate by others.

As he enters the arena, the red lights and heavy music along with the visuals on screen give off the evil aura of the place. Su sees the protagonist and she stops the music, casts her spell on the audience and then as the band comes back in, everyone's just rioting towards the protagonist stopping them in their tracks as su gets away leaving the other two controlling the crowd.. 🤣

BABYMETAL was not an idea of their talent agency "Amuse Inc."
Pop or J-pop is usually more profitable than metal music
It was an idea of Key Kobayashi _(Koba for short)._ He is the mastermind behind BABYMETAL
Koba, a metalhead working for Amuse Inc.
He was working on the idea of mixing J-pop and metal for a long time
Finally, he went ahead with his dream when he heard the vocal power of Suzuka _(Lead singer)_
Because of that, they didn't get a lot of resources from their talent agency at first
They had to borrow clothes to complete their costume set for their first music video and also for their first live performance : th-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/w-d-xo.html
They also did a free live performance in a mall for the release of their song "Megitsune": th-cam.com/users/shortsKb6XT9BvoTg
They had to work really hard to get where they are today

@@rolmodel12. You like a good origin story ? I'll give you a much more extended version. Babymetal in many ways lives in between pure band culture and corporate entity. Babymetal exists because of the decline in rock and metal in mainstream music. Koba was working for the corporate entity to do anything a band signed with them would need. The musicians of a band usually just want to make music and other creative work and play. You don't want to deal with having to organize a tour or find the lighting person, etc. He'll find the person who fits the band's image/culture (culture: as in someone who will fit in the group for touring). He's the jack of all trades. He even used play guitar in a band himself. With the decline of metal and rock, he was asked to go work in the kids department of the company. Japanese culture is now a bit more like western culture, but in the past it very much was like: after your education, you find a company to work for and stay there until your pension. The company takes some what good care of it's employees and the employees pay back with loyalty. Obviously, because it's based in culture, some companies would take advantage of this situation. Welcome to capitalism. Anyway, this is why even more 'free thinkers', a lot of the time are part of the corporate world. Which means lots of people in rock/metal (comparing to the west) were in the corporate world making music. Yes, even pop music. J-Pop. If you check out J-Pop, on the average the music is more intricate than western pop. Lost of anime music is some form of rock music. Why ? To pay the bills. So creating pop by day and doing metal by night was more common in Japan than in the west... anyway, in this environment he was one of a few who had the idea: maybe it's possible to combine these two world. And part of the goal was also to help get more rock/metal in the mainstream again. We don't know which ideas came when, but because their was 'no money in metal' and the time he was very unsure about how to proceed with this idea. He even thought it was a crazy idea. The company wouldn't fund it, obviously, their was pretty much no chance to even make the money back. Eventually he talked to a former CEO of the company who, if I understood it correctly, still had an advisory role or was just his friend and advice him that way. He said: if you feel so strong about it, you'll have to try it or regret it for the rest of your life. So he made clear to the corporate people his interest in doing this. With a mutual understanding their is no solution for this at the time. The lead singer in Babymetal is Suzuka, Suzuka at age 10 and 11 was part of Karen Girl's a girl j-pop group who was created at the request of an anime to provide half of the music of the anime. Along that time, it was clear the anime would only have one season. So Karen Girl's was also going to end. Suzuka came from Hiroshima, she was attending Actors School Hiroshima (ASH). In Hiroshima and in the kids division she was known as a talented singer. Koba in the mean time was moved to the kids division and was working with an other girl j-pop group, Mini-Pati, which was created at the request of the ministry of agriculture and other things which wanted a group to promote healthy food and buying produce. At Karen Girl's last concert the opening 'band' was Mini-Pati, this was the first time Koba got to see Suzuka perform. He noticed her unusual talent of singing loud. It helped fuel the idea that maybe a j-pop metal group was possible. She can maybe sing loud over the loud music he likes. I'm certain the ministry also had just requested for it for a limited time. As I understand it, this age it's harded for the company to find work for the girls. But because of he Japanese culture of life-long employment they want to get the most out of these girls, their were hired because of their talents, so let's maximize their potential. So the company formed something new. They wanted to give their most talented girls more experience and figure out if they have any other hidden talents. So they created a school-themed J-Pop group called Sakura Gakuin of 12 girls, 2 of the 3 girls from Karen Girl's, 3 of the 3 girls from Mini-Pati and others were selected to be part of it. It's an investment in their biggest talent. The group's mean goal isn't to make money, but as used as a teaching tool: the girls get more experience and improve on what they already know in the categories of: singing, dancing, do interviews (from both sides), acting, public speaking, photo shoots, modeling, etc. Mini-Pati became part of this group, as the cooking-club sub-group (imaging school themed: extracurricular clubs) and other sub-groups were created. This was Koba's chance, he was allowed to create the heavy music club as part of the bigger group. He would get no funding, but he could re-use some of the existing facilities. Which included are 3 girls. Suzuka at age 12, Yui and Moa at age 11. The girls were very young and didn't know about metal music. But they were willing to try and their were very hard workers for anything they committed themselves to. Sakura Gakuin, because of their goals, was age-limited: so every year some girls leave, new girls get added based on age. So the school year Suzuka turned 15 she had to leave, Babymetal had some limited success so the girls were asked: do you want to continue Babymetal ? And after thinking seriously about it they agreed. So Babymetal became it's own entity. Everything else after that is more hard work and talent and luck, actually having good music. And a bit of gimmick of 'little girls and metal music' getting attention after they got a bit of an audience. And going viral in different waves (bigger and bigger). Babymetal would just have stopped if it wasn't for the Internet. Babymetal live wouldn't have gotten this big without having amazing live musicians who are called Kami Band (even though they came later). Babymetal wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Suzuka's talent and hard work and Koba's experience to getting the right creative and technical people and his crazy ideas. Babymetal wouldn't have worked without Yui and Moa's hard work. And the talent of the hired music writers. That is the magic of Babymetal: everything had to come together for it to work out like this. Same have said Babymetal is a bit like Cirque Du Soleil or a Broadway show. In some sense it's true, the girls didn't write most of the music/lyrics, but a lot of the lore and songs of Babymetal are actually inspired by the girls, women now. So it has been written 'in their voices'. A song like Uki Uki Midnight has lyrics which talk about eating squid instead of sweets when making a party. These kinds of elements are of the girls on tour having fun in the hotel room. Moa throwing squid arms on the bed and the girls eating that instead of sweets. Not all of these things are communicated with us. But their are many references. The Fox God lore is from the girls making a fox shadow play hand gesture when misunderstanding the metal devils horns. Koba didn't tell the girls a lot about metal, he wanted the girls to discover it for themselves in part because without knowledge of something you get different perspective. Like what became the fox sign. Which is great input for story telling, image, etc. Babymetal started in 2010, but, especially Suzuka, has a deep understanding of the appeal of metal music in 2013. When Babymetal performed at the same festival as Metallica. The tour photographer of Metallica had seen team Babymetal in the artist area of the festival. They were wearing a t-shirt with Metallica homage. Metallica was the headliner at the festival. Koba had hired artists of metal band shirts to make shirts for Babymetal and sometime of those shirts are homage shirts. The photographer told the Metallica band members and they were kind of curious, Lars Ulrich went to see Babymetal perform. This is a big music festival, this is the headliner going to see a group perform at the smallest stage of the festival, far away from where they were going to perform. The girls and Koba got to meat the guys from Metallica, they took some photos and the girls of Babymetal got to see Metallica perform live on the big stage. This is when especially Suzuka (15) got her deeper understanding of metal music performed live. Babymetal the year before performed at the same festival, but at a sort of side-stage, at the food court, where usually only comedians get to perform. Over time Babymetal performed at bigger and bigger stages at the festival. In 2019 Babymetal performed on the big stage before the Foo Fighters. Which by that time wasn't a big deal for the size of the stage/audience anymore, but a big achievement because only foreign bands get the top spot at the festival. So they've reached the highest spot. And Summer Sonic is one of the biggest music festivals in Japan. Babymetal opened for Metallica in Seoul, South Korea in 2017. An other achievement. Their are more things I can write, but I've probably written enough for now.

@@rolmodel12. well, those were special moments for Babymetal some goals/hops/dreams they had. Some other well known artists/bands from the top of my head: Babymetal opened for Lady Gaga (turns out she loves both the pop and metal) in the US, Babymetal opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers in the UK and US. Babymetal opened for Korn and Stone Sour (Corey Taylor's other band) in the US, Sabaton and BMTH have both opened for Babymetal in Japan, Babymetal opened for Guns N Roses in Japan. Babymetal performed main stage at metal/rock festivals in Europe/North American. Collaboration performance with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. That was also a special moment for Babymetal. Later opened for Judas Priest in Singapore. If you look at the third album, Metal Galaxy, you'll notice a bunch features as well: Tim Henson and Scott LePage of Polyphia, Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy, Joakim Brodén of Sabaton. A much earlier feature was a song named Road of Resistance between the first and second album: Dragonforce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman. Babymetal has performed in some 20+ countries, they were going to add a bunch more in 2020, but it was all cancelled. The girls started their first world tour when they were 16 and 14 and 15 years old. That first world tour they also performed at the main stage at Sonisphere, in front of over 60 000 metal fans. The closing at many hours later on that stage was Iron Maiden. Others that day and stage are bands like Anthrax. Their most have been band members behind the stage thinking: what are these kid doing here ? 🙂 Between practice, PR/interviews, performing and watching other bands, what do you think Babymetal does at festivals ? Their homework. LOL 🙂 As I said Babymetal is kind of euh... different/special in lots of ways.

The audience as amazing as ever. But the lack of Yuimetal was palpable. Su and Moa sang and danced their hearts out. But it was like watching a tricycle missing a wheel.
It was just off. More so when you realize after 21 consecutively viewed concerts at that point; just how much Yuimetal in the role of "scream/dance" actually provided. When they didn't have a chance go rework anything for a duo and there were moments of actual silence because there wasn't anyone there to sing the line. The fans did a hellofajob stepping in and belting out the lines as needed. But it was quite the different Babymetal experience to be sure.
Watched Live at The Forum last night. It was cool but my fellow Americans really don't have the same presence as the UK/Euro crowd. Certainly they can't match that of the Japanese fandom.
Just seven concerts left the view before the end. Metal Galaxy "day 1 & 2" then the five 10 Budokan shows... The last performances ever I believe.

I honestly wish they had released this instead of making a music video. A song like DaDaDance would have been better as a video while this song is waaaay better live.
