Thanks to Dave for allowing me to test ride his 2022 Honda Trail 125 / CT 125. It was a blast and look forward to mini moto camping in the future!

Love this bike.
It was a blast to ride.
The bike is a pleasure to drive with a gear indicator.
Downshifting takes a nitcof practice and was an early discouragement. There are a few folks who've posted videos on the trick to make down shifts smoother.... essentially apply a little pressure on the gear shifter, a little throttle twist, and let the pressure off the shifter. Can easily get the hang of it after a day or two

@MidgetMoto Yep. Basically rev match when downshifting.
It's quite shocking how good the monkey seat is vs the trail. On the downshifting you have to ease off the shift lever after changing gear. It is essentially like a clutch lever.
Once you get that down it's dreamy.
I picked up on the shifting after I got home and did a little more research. When I ride it again I’m sure it’ll be much smoother
I was going to say it’s shocking how many people who own this bike have no idea it has two clutched or how to use them. You can hold the shift lever down and it’s identical to holding in a hand clutch… just a little less intuitive. For $300 you can convert it to a hand clutch. I may yet do that to mine just for consistency between bikes.
@@michaelmorris1802 being someone who has owned several bike and ridden many others I can definitely say it was weird. I try to go into first impression videos with limited research on purpose to get a true real first experience. After some videos online and more research after my test ride, I feel like I would enjoy it even more the next time I ride.
I wasn’t faulting you for not knowing, was making the observation that most people, even people who own them don’t know, Honda has been building this arrangement for decades now, clearly they have failed to educate their owners.

Ok, you do realize this bike model is literally decades old, right? Other than modern upgrades (more powerful engine, electronic dash, ABS, etc), the basics haven’t changed much. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Your review could’ve been improved if you had done a little bit of research on the history of the iconic trail bike. Still, thanks for sharing your thoughts. The bike i own is a Kymco Spade 150. SEAT height is actually shorter! And I love it
