Mario Wonder’s final boss wasn’t so bad. The only hard part was avoiding the elephant fruit. And if you get it, you can lose it immediately. Unless you’re Toad. Then it actually does get hard.
But I digress, the only boss that’s hardest for me is Ludwig Von Koopa in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. AND HIS ENTIRE EXISTENCE ALONE HAS GOTTEN ME TO HATE HIM!

At least in my case, in the main series, the boss that costed me the most was the final boss in Super Mario 64, mainly because of that 3rd time where you have to once again grab Bowser's tail and send him to one of the bombs, only difference is that the ground will break and turn into a star, making it a big challenge (and it's not like the camera helps either). That however doesn't stop his final battle from being enjoyable, when it comes to the whole Mario franchise to be fair, there are certainly harder bosses out there, especially in the RPG games.
P.S.: For me, the hardest boss in Super Mario Bros. 3 is Ludwig, due to him constantly jumping very hard, making you feel still. Roy did that too, but Ludwig surpasses him in difficulty due to him doing so way more faster. And in Super Mario Land 2, the hardest for me are the Three Little Pigs, since each they have their own way to attack.
The Kamella daredevil run from the first Super Mario Galaxy should be mentioned
Bowser's rage stage for me at least was easy but was kinda challenging dodging the lava plant things he shoots out
It was also very disappointing for a final boss. I thought we would actually be fighting the entire castle as phase 2 or smth

As a kid the new super mario bros 2 final boss was very difficult and I had to use the invincible suit
i had the invincible leaf while fighting him, but he still kicked my ass so

Wonder bowser was really only seen as the “hardest” boss in the game because there were no harder bosses just a crappy bowser jr. I mean they didn’t even bring in the clown car except for 2 parts!

Meowser is not hard at all and especially since it’s an autoscroller stage, unless you struggle with those. It’s still one of my top 3 favorite Bowser battles but should definitely be replaced with Champions Road, that is NOT a stage that is a full on boss battle 💀 or Boss Blitz too I suppose
