It's just a steep climb from D4 to POE2, D4 hands shit to players POE makes you work for it, both 1 and 2. D4 you can play with a jank build, POE you will fall flat on your face if you don't adapt. One of the biggest issues was not using the skills he chose as smoothly, the Ice Locus pulls agro sometimes and blocks pathing, using that + his attack would've helped tremendously...but most D4 players I see don't realize that POE 2 is designed to require you to think much more about your build/choices. Same thing w/ skill tree, most D4 players are overwhelmed by it, but in reality you just take what you need spending 2-3 minutes looking at the flow of what's available until you start to find a path you like along w/ a skill....you need health, search for health nodes. Need damage, search for damage nodes...it's not that hard, but it's a big leap from Diablo. He def started getting used to it and slowly started adapting, which is commendable. POE has always been a tricky game...gotta work for shit and he def started to. I've seen my fare share of D4 players just quit b/c they couldn't pass the first few bosses and refused to adapt.
I’m new to the arpg so Poe 2 is my first i currently main the witch but jeeeez I didn’t even struggle this bad and I knew better than to walk into the wild with no armor and the skill tree isn’t even complicated just gotta read
I was getting extremely frustrated watching you start, but you got the hang of it by the end and started finding the groove. Well done. Hope you're enjoying the game! Path of Exile is definitely tough to get into with all the information it throws at you, but once you catch on, you'll be amazed how deep its systems are. GGG has some very passionate and intelligent designers working on the game!
So these are the people who complain on reddit about difficulty, huh? My only ARPG ever was Diablo 3, which I stopped playing after the campaign. I came into PoE2 blind (aside from trailers and reveals), watched no guides, no play throughs - all I did was read the information on my screen and not skip every single tool tip like this guy. I didn't die until the 3rd boss, and I only died 7 times in the whole of Act 1 (Executioner and his guillotine were 3 of them). No, this isnt meant as a brag, im just making the that if i can do it as a total noob to the genre, then anyone can. It isn't hard. Just read. Read what the game is telling you to do and make sense of it rather than skipping everything and assuming you know best - you don't - and the results are videos like this, or people complaining about difficulty instead of being self aware of their own impatience and ineptitude.
instant gratification is all this generation is now. Thats why fps games are plagued with cheaters. No one wants to take the time to actually get good anymore
I’m not new to the genre, played poe, Diablo 2 & 3, but I think I died about dozen times to the first boss in the first zone, the frost hag. Now, I had no equipment whatsoever but eventually beat her and hallelujah weapon drop. Ngl I was starting to think that the game is too difficult, but turns out it’s an arpg and the gear matters, also helps to get good.
Poe 2 is amazing, and it's not that hard. The skill tree doesn't take research. You do ice damage you find the nodes that increase ice damage. You want defense, you find nodes with defense. It's not complicated. I'm an og diablo player and poe 2 is the new goat.
There are a LOT of complex systems here, even at low levels. Like each of the four starter abilities in the uncut gem have complexity to them, and you need to decide which one to get (no takebacks!). If you're down to learn, it's pretty rewarding, but almost nothing is handed to you here, for better and for worse. Plus melee is much harder than ranged in this game on top of all that. I know a lot of people are judging you for not understanding everything that's thrown at you, but I think it's awesome that you're sticking with it. But you're learning, adapting, and just getting better. Hope the haters don't keep you down, and I hope you are able to enjoy your experience.
There s learning for sure… but there is also the basics .. the basic here is at least to wear some gear, even the crap non magic that dropped thru the first zone…
Problem is you'd think he doesn't want to learn by the way he plays and doesn't read what's on screen. He basically learned to auto attack, then just stops using it as soon as he gets a skill. He doesn't look at his mana gauge, doesn't pay attention to the sound cues that a big attack is coming... You can help someone in various ways, if he refuses help, what can you do? Gear? Why would I need that, naked is better I guess... Again he's intimidated by the skill tree but it has a search function where you can look for any stat you want and go from there. You can read the description of a skill (basic skill of a poe player) but he chose not to... If that's what a Diablo player is today... (I started with Diablo 1, I still read the descriptions)
LOL, this is funny. LOL So much could have been helped by just reading. Oh, and visiting the vender for some armor lol. The Locus attack is actually pretty huge when used lol
Honestly this video would help the devs streamline things even more. There are people who are "better" than you who died on the first boss so you're fine, most people just follow guides instead of playing blind. It also makes me think that when people say the game is too hard they should be forced to upload a video so we can know if they should be taken seriously or if they just never put items on . 😂
😂 this made me laugh. I need to rewatch this myself just to cringe. Been playing hardcore and every video I edit has major mistakes it seems, but on the whole getting better each run.
Why people are so mean, it's not like we are experts the first time we try something new. I'm glad he kept playing seems like and hopefully enjoys the game as much as I do
Ignore the toxic poe fans below. Been playing poe hc since 2013 and later hcssf when that came. They are a minority. Give the game time. It grows on you as you realise options you have. One of those games that actually reward you for thinking.
How tf can you get into diablo 4 but you're not reading, make it make sense 😂, i haven't played d4 in months but didn't that game require reading as well or am i trippin lol.
It is completely beyond me how someone who supposedly has D3 and D4 experience can be this .... bad? You have a mana-free attack with some small AoE - USE IT! Stay on the witches, evade the one big damage they do with the red circle and pummel them to death. Monk was quite powerful in my opinion - just don't run around like a headless chicken. The monk problems come in act 2 when you try to ascend, thanks to the honor system. But until that point, the monk is a pretty fun class.
Except what others have said i feel like you are to afraid to commit. I have been playing monk to and i feel that you have to be aggressive and get out fast to do good, you have a flask that refills health ,use it
I thought I was bad at the game 😅 Do yourself a favor and switch to WASD Good luck learning bro and wait til you get to endgame if you get there….. my lord
Well towards end of the video you got beter its worth to cnow how skils work together som do interact for example firewall eny projectile going thro fire wall gets extra fire dmg on it
Look, i understand that you are new to poe, but this looks like you are new to games in general. I forget that the general casual gamer is used to so much hand holding these days. Its sad when people go into games like Elden Ring, dies to a boss you can easily just walk around or go explore and get stronger and give the game 3/10. Its mega frustrating to see you not even read what the skills do. You would have a 80% easier time if you just read, the game tells you almost everything you need to do, no research needed. Im sorry if i am over critical, i just find it frustrating that the majority of the gaming community's voice is from someone who dont even try to understand what is going on. Keep at it, read, try stuff and figure things out on your own its way more fun rather that following some guide.
If you liked Diablo2 Necro then play the witch. Use wasd and let your minions fly. You wwnt to upgrade your gear any chance you get and focus on gear stats that enhance your abilities for act 1. The first class you picked is one of the harder classes to play in poe2 at the moment lol.
Also flasks refill as you kill mobs that's why bosses will sometimes call in minions. It gives you a small chance to refill your flasks by killing the peons.
@deucehammer no problem bud one thing I would also recommend is try to add as much freeze and cold damage to your lightning abilities as well as get the herald of frost/cold ability once it is available. You will not be disappointed. Things freeze while you are melting them with your rapid fire lightning abilities and then they explode freezing other mobs including bosses. The freezing is based on the cold damage you do.
yeah playing meee is hard mode in early game. your dps suck (especially on monk that need either combo and bell or the power charge ). my First Two playthrough were monk and warrior and i struggle a lot so when i went mage after, i was shocked how easy it is. i would decimate pack and boss like nothing when with monk i woulld need sometime 3 to 5 time more try on boss.
Beagining you played it wrong when it coms to controls that did you a lot of problems also always kill mage first if posible also you should wach mini video on selecting skill gems what it does exacly
me playing on hardcore and having many god item to one shot everything in few second even boss when i rerun because i died l you know just use equipment and you will obliterate the game
Lol the POE community is thriving with elitist nerds, don’t take it personally. It’s a great game, but not very hand holdy. Believe it or not but they made this way easier to understand than POE 1. The game assumes you’re a gamer if you’re playing it. I suggest using your crafting orbs often. You will get a lot more as the game progresses and gear is massive in power and survivability contribution. Good luck have fun!
Yes, I suck. This is a self deprecating video about how typical game design today (e.g. Diablo 4) has created soft and doughy, spoon fed baby gamers. I’m not the only one sadly. You can watch me improve in my POE hardcore challenge series. I plan to play the game HC only with no guides or help. 😅

Children play Diablo, adults play POE.
You may find using WASD movement better, as you can move any direction and face whatever direction you want seperately.
Thx! I’ll give that a shot
@@deucehammer Controller is actually amazing in this game.
when the game has lagspike wasd ist buggy as fuck!

I play Monk, playing ice Monk and it rocks. Just gotta learn each ability and synergies, have fun. You need to get the bell for boss fights it rocks
Had to bring someone in to carry him😂😂😂😂
On the upside you can only improve from this point.

unwatchable as a serious gamer playing serious games with serious skill, but a great tragi-comedy

hi man, glad you are trying out poe2. Ranged class will be probably much easier to start with, even just to feel the game out a bit :)
try WASD. it can let you move backwards from enemies and then the ice locust works properly and makes you jump backwards.
well POE devs said they wanted to bring on board average diablo players and not many of them are maybe they are doing something wrong
Falling thunder w/o killing palm🤦🏿♂️

Almost every question you ask can be answered by mousing over the relevant item/thing/mechanic, then just reading!
