    Long time UCB Alum here.
    1. Don't give money to the street people. If you give a dollar one day it's likely the same guy will single you out every day and harass you for money.
    2. Scams. If someone approaches you with a sad story about how they're from out of town and we're just robbed or they lost their wallet and they just need $5 - just say "sorry" and walk away. I've seen the same scam over and over again from different folks.
    3. Zachary's - stuffed spinach and mushroom pizza. It's "Chicago Style" but better than anything I've had in Chicago. Tomatoes are fresher and more acidic than which balances better.
    4. Top Dog - Berkeley staple and my favorite dog still. No bizarre "gourmet" combos but just a straight up dog with mustard or sauerkraut. Gimme a German and a Hot with just mustard any day.
    5. Bowles Hall is a great place to hang out to listen to concerts at the Greek Theater for free.
    6. If you live on the north side you'll graduate with great calves.

      R Sid , I love Zachary's & top dog. I graduated in 1996, but still come back often for the food.

    thanks for this video! I've just been been admitted to Berkeley and am trying to find out as much as I can before I make a decision.... something I've been wondering, how does Berkeley being such a large school affect you? do you have a lot of classes with hundreds of students? are most people outside of your major complete strangers to you? also, if you have friends in a different major, do you get to see them much? or are you usually too busy / on different schedules?
    well sorry for all of the questions, and thank you for making this video! it has helped a lot.

      +CraftySunshine Hey Crafty! The size of the school is actually quite nice because I've always wanted to be on a large campus and I don't particularly mind being in classes of 100-500 people (but there are also classes that are smaller than 20 people). Mot people outside of my major are not complete strangers to me (as long as you take the chance to get to meet people!!!) And I always see my friends from a different major because I make the effort to hang out with them :) hope this helped!

      +Timothy Hsu Thank you! It does help a lot. I've always wanted to go to a small school, but got rejected from the ones I've applied to, so I'm trying to figure out how I'll like it at somewhere so big. So far I've been hearing it's not too bad, so I'm pretty excited.

      Thanks for the kind words! I personally don't know any philosophy majors but I tried to take a philosophy course and thought it was extremely difficult (readings were too dense for me) so respect to all the philosophy majors out there

    Is going to Berkeley worth moving from New Jersey to Cali? I'm going to be a HS senior and want to major in computer engineering. I could go to schools in NY or Penn close by but Cali seems like a great place.

    • @HsuTimothy
      @HsuTimothy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! My roommate is actually from NJ and came to Cali despite all the great schools on the east coat. At Berkeley, we're right next to SF and the silicon valley so there are tons of great opportunities to find job employment and the weather here is much more pleasant as well haha. School is a bit pricy for out of state students but I think Berkeley is top in CS so it's very well worth your money (considering how much you'll make after graduation)

      Anthony De Rose hell no! Go to university closer to home, family and friends.. Reality here California especially Berkeley and the surrounding area is a cesspool hero the bay area is a cess pool. If you like blight, bums, drugs, crime and paying more for everything then yea its totally worth leaving jersey for Cali. Hell if you like the uglier things in life than you'll love Berkeley

      Depends what type of person you are. Im 25 living in Berkeley. The college kids are squares. They only know about the campus and the surrounding border. They, like this kid, shouldn't be talking about it like they know it. And they should be grateful, the campus and surrounding area is the Nicest area and one of the most expensive places to live in the Bay Area. Its beautiful.

    Do you know anything about Cog Sci at Berkeley? Like how's the program? Is it hard to minor in CS? I just got admitted to Berkeley this year and want to know more about this major.

    • @HsuTimothy
      @HsuTimothy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah! It's a pretty simple major to declare since it only requires a 2.0 GPA to declare. Overall the major is pretty broad but you can choose what concentration you'd like to focus on (CS is one of the popular ones).

    What do you study? Cant make my mind up for HAAS or Economics

    • @HsuTimothy
      @HsuTimothy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Computer science :-) i was originally Haas intended but found that it was not the major for me

    • @Slickasv
      @Slickasv 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy Hsu Have you considered a minor? What did you think about HAAS? One more question: What's your opinion on HAAS and a CS Minor, doable? Lol

    • @HsuTimothy
      @HsuTimothy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm I did consider a minor in other things but I decided against it because it was a lot of effort for just a minor that wouldn't have been too useful further on. I just wasn't too interested in business after taking a few classes and interning with some companies so i decided to switch to CS. Haas & cs minor is definitely doable! :-)

    Hi! Thank you so much for this video! It's awesome! Could you tell which university education is better for the future career as a Marketing Manager (Marketing Director) in the USA: Harvard or UC Berkeley? Maybe you can advice more valuable educational program?
    - Certificate Program in Marketing at UC Berkeley Extension,
    - Master degree in Marketing at UC Berkeley,
    - Full-Time MBA at UC Berkeley,
    - Marketing Management Certificate Courses at Harvard,
    - Management Degree at Harvard?
    I have a Bachelor degree in Advertising and 6-year work experience as a Client Service Manager at digital advertising agencies in Russia.
