I am just using Microsoft Powerpoint and a presentation mirrored with a tool called PPT Mirror and a remote control so switch to the next slides.Works for me.
A small tip for the 'Pages' users: You can press 'command+option+T' to hide the toolbar on top of pages, so that you can stretch the document further up to the webcam for easy reading. Hope it helps! :)
You that use Pages (me too), how you to open Pages while sharing the Keynote and recording yourself? In my case, as soon as I clik Play of Keynote, I cannot open anything else :/
I did this while I was recording a speech for the opening of the school year. I tried my best not to move my eyes downwards as much as possible. It's a real trick! The practicing part is also essential so you wouldn't sound like you're reading a script.
I was so glad to hear you say your mind is all over and lose your train of thought easily. I’m the same and my interview nerves 😬 make it worse. I know what I’m going to say ahead of time but when the time comes, oh boy. Thank you for these tips!!
You're so awesome! I subscribed in the first minute. Great tips here. For screen-sharing presentations, my favorite things to do are 1- hide the toolbar 2- hide the dock 3- remove all items from your desktop 4- set the margins of your document to 16x9 Now you get this immersive presentation with no distractions to your audience. Look forward to more of your videos. Thanks for putting so much thought into making these. It really shows!
These were awesome tips! Thank you! I was asked, just TWO days ago to be a (Zoom Meet & Greet) Moderator for a gubernatorial candidate. I'm an introvert, I'm an asthmatic (who tends to get winded, at times, when speaking), AND I HATE being on camera. Nonetheless, I thought it would be a great way to attack my fears AND to be a team player; all while taking on something new in the world of tech. I created a posterboard and ran into the problem of how to prevent viewers from seeing my eyes stray to the side. THIS was the perfect video! I feel confident and more at ease about tonight's M&G. Thank you!
Thank you!! from the side view of this presentation, it looks like you are looking at a different camera behind your computer. Do you use this method when you also have slides?
Katie this is all new to me as I start out venturing into the overwhelming world of social media navigation.. I can not afford to spend more money at this time and I was already using pages.. I want to say Thank You for this practical advice..👏🏻⭐
That was really informative. It is simply impossible to memorise everything. Reading off a screen really helps, but then you also want to sound natural. This presentation covers everything!
I was actually watching a different video and then your video played next. You really got me engaged to watch your video all the way to the end. Excellent presentation!
yes i am getting ready to do my virtual presentation for my business. Thank you Katie. I have to stick with you and probably have to replay this video several times and then practice, practice practice.
These are really great tips. I'm on Zoom constantly and I've presented professionally in-person for years and each of these individual tips accumulate nicely to help create a great overall improvement over the way most people do it. I can see this working equally well with bullet points, too (rather than word-for-word) with essentially the same tips. Great work. Very thorough training.
Great video! I use google slides and specifically the speaker notes section. I play the notes window as high as posible and put limited text on each slide so I don't have to look down. Then I just press the right arrow button to go to the next slide.
thank you so much! I am an instructional designer and I work with people who need to give me recorded videos of them speaking. I needed a way to coach them on how to use a script and your video provided me with the solution I need. Thanks so much!
Hi Katie. Why haven’t I found your channel earlier?!! You are a gift! Thanks a lot for so practical and useful tips given in a very natural and friendly way. You definitely have an audience in mind to help out. Peace!
First, I have one 6 year old, so I see you. I've seen a zillion tutorial videos and this was by far the best. What great tips! Thank you. I look forward to your Video Production project.
Great presentation. Great tips. (I might suggest a different color shirt as it was close to skin tone). My favorite takeaway was using the 'word' doc close to the camera lens. I am subscribed and "belled" after one video. In writing we say "show don't tell." You definitely SHOWED today - great content, great delivery! Many thanks.
I'm going to get different extensions than the ones that I bought. Mine don't match my hair, which is fun and fine, but I wish mine were darker rather than lighter than my own hair. Your hair is gorgeous!
Short term memory... check. Excellent tips with the word doc. I tried on myself with a simple notepad and modified the width and it really works...lol... thank you! I remember you from CBS in NYC and Philly. Please make more videos like this. Two thumbs up!
How did you keep notepad from scrolling down 3 lines with every turn of the mouse wheel? I like the idea of using Notepad as it allows me to get my text closer to the camera than with Word, but the jumping 3 lines at a time may be an issue.
Oh Katie, you make this look so easy and I find that encouraging. Your 15 years experience with a teleprompter sets you apart, so I'm paying attention, taking notes and rehearsing Thank you so much for these tips.
One more tip - you can consider using multi-column mode. That way your eye will not have to travel that far across the page. It is also much easier to read such a document.
Katie, thank you so much for sharing this fabulous information! I'm looking to record a TH-cam video that I can link to from my new website, and-prior to watching your video-I was baffled by the teleprompter concept (Would I need more equipment? How does it all connect? etc.) Your explanation helped me to understand it far better. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos!!
This, People, is the very definition of an Excellent video. Thanks so much for the tips. That part of making text bigger and shrinking the margins and centralizing the document are mostly what I will be implementing on my Zoom talks. Thanks a million
The answer may be in the comments already, but I always have to share my screen and wish I knew how to do something like this while sharing my screen as well. This video was amazing though.
This is a tremendously helpful video for online presentations! I have been teaching online and making presentations now for almost a year and I wish I had seen this sooner. This will definitely help me get better, thank you!
Those where some great tips! Thank you!!! I’ll place a little sticker on my laptop just above the camera as a reminder on where to direct my eyes! Appreciate your help. I just recorded two videos for my No More Sleepless podcast so I’m new to the video part.
Great tips. I will use all of them.. But I still need to learn how to show the Word doc on the Zoom call so only I can see it. Do you have a video demonstrating that?
I literally only have a week to get this 3 page speech ready and I'm expected to say it naturally? It's also in another language that I literally only speak in during the class...If I can't get it ready, your tips are really going to help me out!
An academic presentation But then i have to present from a presentation slide while using a script. couldn't use Powerpoints since it's impossible to minimize will using the slide video recorder. any tips?
I used to be the biggest scatterbrain on the planet. I'd constantly walk into a room and forget what I needed. That's just one example of many. I started a daily meditation practice about 6 months ago and it changed my life. My memory is SO much better now! The problem was that brain had so many apps running in the background that I didn't have any room for more information. If anyone feels like a scatterbrain, try meditation. 20 minutes, 2x a day will bring huge improvements fast. Start with just 5 minutes a day and work up to it. For me, it's like soaking in a tub of peace. I look forward to it!
This is excellent, thank you, but it looks like you are looking above your laptop in this video instead of into the camera lens on your laptop....can you clarify?
This was so helpful. I am working on a number of things and am very awkward on camera, having a way to have my thoughts in front of my eyes and look at the camera at the same time will be a huge help. As soon as I heard your voice, I remembered you from KYW News Radio!
Great video. I use PP and just put once sentence per slide, so it is always at the top of the page. So no scrolling, and simply advancing rhw slides with a remote clicker which I can easily hide.
Thank you Katie for these valuable tricks, I sure will used this! BTW, I am a health care provider and have been helping people to improve their memory, reducing brain fog and literally help all human body systems...
Katie, I've watched several other tip videos, yours was clearly the best, and loaded with practical tips. I especially found useful the tip to train your eye to the camera. Also the use of a mouse along with a Word document script! Great! I have a 30 minute talk to deliver May 9th. I'm going to practice using your tips. I know these are going to aid me to give a more polished, professional speech! Many thanks, you did an awesome job!
Thank you for your ideas. I can definitely add a hidden mouse to scroll my document. I use notes on zoom. I have been trying to look directly into the camera.. or memorize little parts, cut the video and piece it together. RRRR! This is so much to think about. THANKS AGAIN!
I have my first short film audition tomorrow. I only have a speaking line as I will be the voice over a cell phone conversation. I am trying to find all the methods to be able to win against the competition. I will try these techniques though, I’m having issues trying to get zoom on my iMac 2012.

What a super presentation Katie, flawless even, and you have just saved me, as there was no way I could remember my (technical) script. I will let you know how it goes (Tuesday, 0900 Costa Rica time). You look amazing too, so I better make sure I look the part as you suggested, and I will follow your tips. Thanks again Kate, Pauli.
What kind of presentation will you test these tips on?
I am just using Microsoft Powerpoint and a presentation mirrored with a tool called PPT Mirror and a remote control so switch to the next slides.Works for me.
I'll use this application with my promotional video,
I will be using it for program videos in my coaching program, live webinars, and IG lives.
mock trial opening XD
I am working harder to improve my COVID season sermons. These tips will help a lot.

Damn. Her eye contact mastery is insane.
Yes... it is refreshing to SEE someone Look at us, while talking instead of watching themselves on their screen. She is very professional.
@@JudiChristopher it’s because she’s reading a teleprompter.

Also, she edited bad segments out too. :) Watch her blooper at the end. It's priceless. :)

And when she said she'd been in broadcasting, that cut it for me

Great video. Also, if you change the document view to "Web Layout" (or equivalent), it removes the large page breaks, so the flow is easier.
