  • Got a puncture (thanks for the screw in the road who ever you are). Just bagged myself the Stop & Go Tyre (tire for those across the pond) Plugger tubeless tyre repair kit so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Just happened to have the Sony Action Cam in the bag so I got it all on film (micro sd card actually)...

    Good vid. I used this on my bike just two weeks ago and it really is a great piece of kit. Mine uses an allen key rather than a pump gun but it's just as effective and takes up less space. I had two 16g CO2 gas cylinders with me but they only gave 12psi so I'll be carrying 5 or 6 on the next ride out.
    This happened to me on a remote country road so having this under the seat was a real boon.

    Best of the videos regarding Stop N Go. Always carry it but thank God never had to use it. My buddy ran his tire for a few years with this plug. No problems.

      Was your buddy's flat in the front or rear tire? Did they notice any air loss after installing the plug? How long did the plug last before they replaced the tire?

    Tip: I struggled to get the mushroom through the tip using the Allen key. My kit was a few years old. A bit of good ole spit lubed it just enough to slip through easier. Try it out if your mushroom looks a bit dry as well...:)

    I have a heck of a time getting the plug to channel into that small nozzle. Have to go through multiple plugs. Got it to work 3 years ago but am working with a flat now and have ruined 3 plugs so far and still not done. Any suggestions?

    looks like still need a better seal because bubbles.
    Some of the guides show using BOTH the POKING tools to establish a hole in the tire before putting in the plug

      Hi. I forgot to pull the plug out two inches which prevented a proper seal. I suspected it was leaking and wet the plug to test, which accounts for the water. I followed the instructions as supplied in the kit....apart from forgetting to pull the plug, doh!

    you have to push the cleaning tool in and out, not screw it in, you could not of made a clean hole, that also could be why it was leaking

    I pull the plug ,but as i trim it down it seems like the end bit of the rubber plug sink into the hole, tested with water but there's no leak

      I experienced the same thing. I try to cut the stem so that a bit (maybe 1/4") is still sticking up so that as the portion of the stem inside the tread retracts, it has some stem left to pull into the hole without dropping below the outer surface of the tire.

    Can we use rubber cement with the plugs?

    • @awesomeass5096
      @awesomeass5096  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll be honest, I'm no expert. The kit is just designed to get you home. The hard bit might be getting the plug with the cement in place. I inadvertently wiped the silicon covering off the plug on one occasion and couldn't get it through the pump.

      Stet Tan instructions say not to use anything with the plugs they supply. Though the fix is not permanent it's the best and safest fix. I used it and it held air for weeks. No issues. Better than old rope plugs and no sticky fix a flat junk.

      Could you use washing up liquid as a lube?

    Excellent tip. Doubt: this repair is permanent? Are There some risks at high speed?

    • @awesomeass5096

      Hi Marcelo. Good to hear from you. It's intended to be a get you home option I believe. I couldn't say what the performance risks at high speed would be, and the "Stop n Go" doesn't claim to be able to do that. I've done maybe a thousand "regular" miles on a plugged tyre which includes day to day, city and several hundred motorway miles.

      I used this exact tire plug on my Harley Davidson Iron 883 rear tire, (and I did stretch the plug before cutting it). I then ran it for 4000 miles and there was no leaking at all. I only changed it because the HD shop told me it was not safe to ride permanently. What's the worst that could happen? A slow leak? Do you know of anyone who had a plugged tire blow out? I don't.

    • @devzor
      @devzor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scoop4321 I plugged a pirelli supercorsa on the back of my speed triple right in the middle of the back tire. the tire was brand new when it happened. never leaked, ran the tire to the bands practically, 5000 miles. no issues even at extremely high speeds. If you improperly plug the tire however or have never used one and do something wrong... I could potentially see the plug popping out. As you said though, its not like the tire will explode it will just leak.
