Thank you for watching today's video! Do you have a favorite Solamnic Knight? Or do you think they are a goodie two-shoes organization that deserved to go the way of the Dodo? Leave a comment below.

I haven't read any of the books for a decade and only up to dragons of summer flame. From what I recall the most interesting things about them was the situations that they found themselves in. Without the villains to fight they could be a bit boring. That being said compared to the more generic Knight orders in other words they are fairly complex. One last thing are you doing the other order like the iron Legion or did I just miss them?

The knighthood was always my favorite part of Dragonlance, and definitely resonated more with Sturm about the spirit of the measure rather than the letter. Always kept that in mind when playing LG characters in D&D and remembering what Vinas Solamnus said about Honor. That it needed a balance of wisdom, temperance, justice and courage else it could not stand.

Thank you for this. I've been a big fan of knights and their codes since I read King Arthur stories and Dragon Lance brought that feeling to life in Sturm Brightblade. I'm currently playing a Paladin of Paladine and Kiri-Joleth as a Knight of the Crown. He's 20 so very newly minted. Currently playing in the 5e DragonLance campaign.

I got into the Dragonlance series by playing a Knight in the Shadow of the Dragon Queen module.
Reyner Crestford went from a naive, bright eyed squire, to Sir Reyner Crestford, the Green Knight, Hero of Kalaman, Commander of the Greenshield Brigade, Wielder of the Dragonlance, and the First Paladin.

The book that brought me into the world of Dragonlance was Legends of Huma and it brought me much grief when Heart died. Years later played a Dragonlance MUD called ArcticMud, I was in the clan called Knights of Solamnia. We role played closely to the lore. Had to do three quests, got someone to sponsor before anointed Knight of Crown. Good times. Love Dragonlance. Till date, yet to find a fantasy world as captivating, perhaps only maybe Conan is comparable.

    Hello.
Can a Squire or Knight Postulate wear their Father's Amor and carry their sword before actually becoming a Knight of the Crown?
Assuming the father is no longer active duty.
Or do they have to wait until they are Knighted to first don the Armor?
    I'm making a K.of S. Class for 5e.
    I'm torn on this one.

Hello, Sturm Brightblade wore his fathers armor and wielded his sword before he was a Knight. It only matters if other Knights see you and complain. It could effect your entry into the order, as you’re kinda pretending to be something you’re not.

      Thanks for the feedback.
Strum was practicing the "fake it to you make it" philosophy.
JK . He made it big time during Dragons of Winter Knight. One could argue that was the low point of the Knighthood during the Age of Dispair (they had become too strict and Lawful Dumb), and Sturm helped them out with his courage because he helped win the battle and evolve the Order of the Crown for the War of the Lance.
      --
I'll make it a level 1 Class feature that the player can make up a suit of armor and Shield and weapon that comes from their ancestry. The player also may design their own logo or banner, or coat of arms at level 1.
Then at level 3 (when they become Knighted) they may don the Armor.
The player will be eager to return to their village or their Masters Castle and be Knighted in their new armor.
Of course, I need to give players the option who have a backstory of not having any ancestry.
Maybe the Knight (NPC) who trained them will give them a gift.
Thanks again for the quick feedback

    Greetings,
I was looking over the Dragonlance fandom site and I'm really impressed with how they have the Knights set up.
    Let's start with the Crown
    High Warrior (Level 20)
Lord of the Crown (Levels 18-19)
Marshal of the Crown (Levels 15-17)
Warden of the Crown (Levels 12-14)
Captain of the Crown (Levels 9-11)
Steward of the Crown (Levels 6-8)
Sergeant of the Crown (Levels 4-5)
Knight of the Crown (Levels 1-3)
    Crown Postulant (background)
You could make this PC as a Fighter with the Soldier background or whatever the new background is for the new Dragonlance 5e.
This PC could become a Knight of the Sword or Rose based upon how the campaign goes and what the player wants.

    • @DLSaga
      @DLSaga  ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is an interesting way to handle it as well! There are a lot of fan made options out there now for 5e.

    • @travisdonaldstanley6420
      @travisdonaldstanley6420 ปีที่แล้ว

Next things get very complicated with Knights of the Sword.
      High Clerist (Level 20)
Lord of the Sword (Levels 18-19)
Marshal of the Sword (Levels 15-17)
Warden of the Sword (Levels 12-14)
Captain of the Sword (Levels 9-11
Steward of the Sword (Levels 6-8)
Sergeant of the Sword (Levels 4-5)
Knight of the Sword (levels 1-3)
      Order of Clerists
So it would seem that the background is acolyte , but they could be a folk hero or whatever you make up to give them two good proficiency bonus in.
Also, you could make a Paladin start out at level 1 as a Knight of Sword and go throw the ranks.
Or, you could make a War or Tempest Cleric and make them a Knight of the Sword.

    • @travisdonaldstanley6420
      @travisdonaldstanley6420 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finally we have the Rose.
      High Justice (Level 20)
Lord of the Rose (levels 18-19)
Marshal of the Rose (Levels 15-17)
Warden of the Rose Levels 12-14)
Captain of the Rose. (Levels 9-11)
Steward of the Rose. (Levels 6-8)
Sergeant of the Rose (Levels 4-5
Knight of the Rose (Levels 1-3)
Note, how they don't have a background level. The way I see it, you must be a Knight of the Crown or the Sword first to be a Knight of the Rose. So by level 3, you can make the switch to Rose if you desire. These are most likely Lawful Good in Alignment and more often have the Nobility Background.
Typically once a Knight becomes a Rose they do not go back.

Even if a PC has the rank of a Captain, they can still be an adventurer.
During their "down time" they must learn battlefield tactics and be ready to answer the call of duty and lead Knights and Shoulders into battle.
Indeed, a Captain of the Crown (Levels 9-11) may return to their castle and country and take command of their unit (sixty men) for the next quest.
Of course higher ups would need to approve such a request.

I'm continuing my efforts to make a Knight Class for the Age of Might with D&D 5e.
Knights of the Crown will have the option to make a sacred Oath and multiclass with some of the Paladin subclasses. They will stay in the Knighthood of course.
The Oath of the Crown is perfect!
"The Oath of the Crown is sworn to the ideals of civilization, be it the spirit of a nation, fealty to a sovereign, or service to a deity of law and rulership. The paladins who swear this oath dedicate themselves to serving society and, in particular, the just laws that hold society together. These paladins are the watchful guardians on the walls, standing against the chaotic tides of barbarism that threaten to tear down all that civilization has built, and are commonly known as guardians, exemplars, or sentinels.
Often, paladins who swear this oath are members of an order of knighthood in service to a nation or a sovereign, and undergo their oath as part of their admission to the order's ranks."
    Perfect!
They can also take the Oath of Watchers because their holy patron (Habbakuk) opposes aberrations of magic.
    AND!
They can take the Oath of Soul Reving. It's a play from the Lacy of Kain Soul Reaver. I stold some from the Grave Domain (Clerics) Remember, Habbakuk is not a fan of the undead at all.

He had an opportunity to make things right and cleanse his soul but his weak Will Power prevented him from carrying out his duty.
The Curse by his wife was epic, but the inner demons and torment of the man is what made Soth such a horrific ghost.
The gods choose him to be the champion to save Istar, so he clearly had amazing potential.
But the passion inside him was not tempered yet.

If you’re going to correct pronunciation, at least learn that the authors said there is no official pronunciation. This may come as a shock to you, but regionally, pronunciations differ, that’s language.
