i finally beat this quest tonight, took me wayyyy too many attempts and way too long to finish, but the feeling i got from doing it is amazing! thank you for giving me this as a guide to base me strategy off of. Also, i did this as part of a bet that I couldnt beat it before my friend beat the rest of G-rank online stuff from where he was at the time. I won while he had 2 quests left!

Your videos sure teach me how to be hyper offensive in this game. I love it. Managed to beat this about a week ago myself. The Diablos was absolute pain for me to kill (DB user here) when it just kept running all around the arena like no tomorrow and didn't give me a single chance to charge up.
@Tom Georgin: 1. Bombardier increases bomb damage and blast status, and it's relatively easy to gem in. And yeah, Latent Power is rather useless, especially since all 3 monster enter rage mode easily, which makes Challenger override Latent Power. 2. Because it looks ugly imo.

There's always that one weapon in every generation of MH that, when you're skilled enough, fucking destroys everything almost challengelessly. But no seriously, I would struggle with any one of these three. The fact that you're doing this in less than ten minutes amazes me enough.
Oh my god, somebody actually swinging the god damn glaive and getting triple buff instead of fucking AERIAL spamming. I wish more people who used glaives were like you. On a side note, your dodging skills are legit as fuck. I thought you had evasion 1 at least. no joke I was watching like "wow, you put evasion on that set over tremor res? Why even?!" Not sure bombardier would've been worth it over Tremor res though, tbh. You lost some time when Jho showed up and started shaking the earth and I doubt that the extra applied blast and bomb bonus on the one instance it was useful was particularly necessary or gave you that much faster of a time. You are quite skilled though and aside from a few mistakes here and there, that was a fantastic run and awesome to watch regardless! Kudos!
Wow... Simply wow! O_o My set gives me the same skills as you (I use Rebellion helm with Golden Rajang mail, waist, legs and Kujula arms. My charm is kind of broken since it's a Bombardier +10 OO). I main IG since I started 4U and when I see your play style, I realize that I'm too aggressive and always try to hit as much as possible without worrying to take hits... You're much more precise and that changes everything I guess ^^ I have some hard time on this quest... Regios isn't a problem at all, he generally dies in about 3 minutes but I don't manage to kill Diablos before the Jho appears... I always attack a part where I bounce off and I waste too much time... Do I have to use my Drive Wystone or is it better to keep it for Jho? If you have any advice, I'll take it ^^ I just wanted to say that you're one of the best IG players that I've seen so far and I'm going to watch all of your videos because you're really inspiring :) You've now a new subscriber! ^^
Draen Diablos and Seregios are actually both easy because you can kill both of them before they can even do much in the first place (this isn't shown very well in this video though because I messed up a few things). Generally, HGE or Disposable Earplugs help a lot with Diablos. First, you should aim for one leg, you will trip Diablos before it finishes roaring, giving you some free hits. After that, Diablos will enter rage mode, which gives you enough time to mount it or trip it again if you focus on one leg, giving you more free hits (ideally, you would first trip it a second time and then mount it before it stands up again). If done correctly, Diablos will already die after a few hits in Apex mode (I once even managed to kill Diablos before it had the chance to turn apex lol).

Ha, I actually had a few brainfart moments in this run (like using disposable earplugs after Seregios even though I still had the first one active), so I actually could've done it better, but thanks :D
I seriously doubt that. The problem is that all phial attacks cover a wide area, making it easier to accidentally hit a hardened body part of the Apex monster. If it weren't for that, the quest wouldn't be much of a problem. It might take a while until I manage to show a decent run with the CB.
I just tried it with the Charge Blade for the first time and managed to finish it in 12'41''50. I think with a little bit more practice I can at least get it done in less than 10 minutes.
DEADGXSR Tried it again today with the Charge Blade and managed to get it done in 8:12 even though there was a lot of room for improvement. I might be doing a video with the Charge Blade in th next few weeks as soon as I've refined my CB playstyle for this quest.
I fucking hate that jho. Everyone says Diablos is the hardest part but fuck i've killed so many blos that he's the easiest part. Seregios keeps anoying me and jho keeps triple carting me. I hate this damn quest and this arena in general.
Dude... You have some serious skill! Its not luck, nor just nowing the monsters patterns. Its just knowing what to do, and especially have complete mastery of the weapon you use. You master the Insectglaive like its nobodys business! GG to you. I oh so wish I had that much skill.
This quest is pretty tough. Had to finish by slowly chipping down Jho. I would pull up the fence a lot to heal and recharge Wystones, then jump back in.

It doesn't "boost" it but it enables you to deal status damage. Without the Elemental Wystone, you won't deal any status/elemental damage at all against Apex monsters.
CantaPerMe So when Seregios and Diablos turned Apex, since you didn't use the wystone, you weren't dealing blast damage, right? (I didn't see any explosions, but just to be sure, as I've never used element wystone). Would you recomend ir over force wystone because of your weapon's huge blast? I've failed this quest so many times...
Hi, is Bombardier that amazing ? And do you think Gloves off is useless if you're not going to get hit a lot (like you do?) ? Also, why not going for Grand Divine Ire Mask ? I've been trying to make a similar one (with those same skills actually, but with the ability to swap between elemental, bombardier, and status attack) but I just dont have a charm that will let me. Is yours just a sharpness+6 with 2 slots?

It's the Crimson Fatalis Glaive, so you need to have at least beaten Gogmazios to be able to fight that guy and craft that glaive. If you do meet the requirements though, I could help you out with Crimson Fatty right now.

I need advice, I usually fight Deviljho and diablos with a gunlance, but lately I've had glaive swagger like I've been really good with it. I haven't died offline since caraveeners challenge. I just got the Fatalis urgent etc but i;m nervious about eventually doing this quest , i always wonder why some people dont use cats.

Erza Scarlet That's kinda redundant since Apex Deviljho is just a Savage Jho (in terms of moveset and behaviour) with hardened body parts. Same applies to Apex Diablos.
I keep getting killed by the Diablos because he just loves to combo me to death. If he hits me with anything, he instantly turns around and charges me, then turns around and charges me again right as I get up, then just keeps doing it until I'm dead if I'm not already dead by that point. I can't even move when he's in rage mode, the only problem is, he's ALWAYS in rage mode.
hey man, can I make a petition? what about doing a solo run against a raging Brachy? I've used some of your tactics for defeating many of the Elder Dragons in G rank, and using others that work for me (i'm way more greedy with the IG combos), but Brach... I hate that guy...
This quest is OVERWHELMINGLY hard! I am totally at a loss as to what to do! I am a VERY skilled Monster Hunter veteran & this quest is so hard, it's blowing my mind! How in the HELL am I supposed to beat this quest?! This quest is a special kind of hard! It's different from anything I've ever done in a video game! Even "Mark of a Hero" from MH3U wasn't this hard! Out of all the figurative blood, sweat & tears I've faced in video games before...THIS is literally the hardest thing I've ever done! So tell me this... What do I need to bring in order to beat this quest? What weapon, armor, skills & items do I need to bring to beat this quest? I am desperate! Gimme ALL the details! Best recommendations! I am VERY good at this game, but damn! I couldn't possibly be THIS good! So what should I do? BTW - The weapons I use right now, in this game are (Charge Blade, Hammer, Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades & Gunlance)
Sorry, I haven't used any of the weapons you've mentioned to beat this quest yet, so I can't give you any advice on that :/ Just a general thing though: there is a fence in the middle of the arena which you can use to separate Diablos and Seregios at the beginning. I'd also recommend using a weapon with Blast element, which is very effective for quests with multiple monsters.
I use the fence! Don't worry! I have the game paused right now, actually! The only monster I have left is Deviljho, but I only have one life left...so, that's bad! XD - I'm using the Chameleos GS & it's working pretty well!
I want to break my system already. Trying to finish this stupid fucking quest is driving me insane. Every single time I make it to the deviljho, it's always bullshit. I hit it over and over again and he never gets out of that stupid apex mode.
You probably aren't attacking all that much, as monsters don't take too long to knock out of Apex. You're probably being a bit defensive - but hey, all I can do is assume.
Challenger could work better, actually. HGE could be considered redundant, due to the Disposable Earplugs available at the Wyceum. The boost that Challenger +2 gives is INSANE, and could actually help you best that bastardly Apex Jho.

Hey CantaPerMe, have you tried redoing this quest recently with IG. I've noticed IG is your main weapon and you get a faster time using Charge blade by 20 Seconds. I was wodnering if you could actually get a faster time or not?

Do you think ditching Drive for Force might be a little faster because of the increased damage? I don't think you ever even hit a hard spot on Jho even when Drive was activated so it could be a risk vs reward thing. Also amazing run.

You are very skilled, especially with the charge blade, for some reason I tried it but when i keep stunning the head with the last charge move it takes more than 3 hits super hits on the head while i use the blade after full blackguard+, do you use the KO skill? I'm of course better with GS, SnS and Lance but only because i used them in the freedom series and for some reason in Freedom Unite my best weapon was Gunlance, but now I am struggling with it, is it weaker than in the previous games? Sorry for the questions.
CantaPerMe Monsters with the hard heads like gravios or basarios maybe the silver rathalos or golden rathian, i can upgrade to anything... Almost since I am Silver Crown G, but i would like to know... What your strategy is with the charge blade... I mostly solo, but some thing i do since the first mh game is striking only when there is a guaranteed opening with no risks, i shouldnt do that anymore, since i saw that people like yourself and some online keeps going in instantly risking theirselves... I want to try the new weapons I really do, especially on seeing you defeating them so quick... And if i may ask (you dont have to answer) how many years of experience do you have in the MH series?

CantaPerMe My run was actually faster than yours untill jho decided he was going to spam his stand on hind legs and hit you on the other side of the arena attack. It took me too long to set up on jho and kill him
Do you know if an armor set like the Chaemeleos would be better than yours for this Glaive? Status+2 and Status Crit sound really good on paper. I don't know about the actual numbers though.
How do you unlock this quest? I've done all of the caravan 10 quests but I never got it. I feel like there's some set of requirements I haven't met. Do you have to be like gold crown or something?
Any tips for some one new to the insect glaive? I know you're supposed to always have the kinsect boost on. I've tried this quest with lance, longsword and switch axe and every time I make it to the jho and run out of healing stuff...
Shmandalf I've had a long conversation with "Warm Shower" some time ago on my Lv140 Teostra solovideo, you might want to read through it, otherwise, here's something that I also told said person regarding learning the Insect Glaive: "As far as learning a new weapon is concerned, I'd recommend watching/reading tutorials for that weapon in order to know what it is capable of (the weapon tutorial videos by GaijinHunter are supposedly pretty good), watching some gameplay videos of that weapon against certain monsters also helps you get an idea of how the weapon can be used. As for the Glaive, the X-X-A-X-X-A-X-... infinite combo is widely considered the 'best' combo because its dps is pretty good. I'm not too fond of using the infinite combo exclusively though, but that's just my personal opinion and I'd still recommend a beginner to focus on that one combo first because it is a good combo nonetheless (+ it's easy to memorize). Once you're more familiar with the Glaive, you can experiment with new and different combos and slowly expand your combo arsenal. Eventually, all these different combos will become second-nature to you and you will be able to use them without thinking too much (at least that's how it was for me)." I seriously doubt that. The problem is that all phial attacks cover a wide area, making it easier to accidentally hit a hardened body part of the Apex monster. If it weren't for that, the quest wouldn't be much of a problem.
It might take a while until I manage to show a decent run with the CB.
I just tried it with the Charge Blade for the first time and managed to finish it in 12'41''50.
I think with a little bit more practice I can at least get it done in less than 10 minutes.
DEADGXSR Tried it again today with the Charge Blade and managed to get it done in 8:12 even though there was a lot of room for improvement. I might be doing a video with the Charge Blade in th next few weeks as soon as I've refined my CB playstyle for this quest.

Everyone says Diablos is the hardest part but fuck i've killed so many blos that he's the easiest part.
Seregios keeps anoying me and jho keeps triple carting me.

This quest is pretty tough. Had to finish by slowly chipping down Jho. I would pull up the fence a lot to heal and recharge Wystones, then jump back in.

It doesn't "boost" it but it enables you to deal status damage. Without the Elemental Wystone, you won't deal any status/elemental damage at all against Apex monsters.

CantaPerMe So when Seregios and Diablos turned Apex, since you didn't use the wystone, you weren't dealing blast damage, right? (I didn't see any explosions, but just to be sure, as I've never used element wystone). Would you recomend ir over force wystone because of your weapon's huge blast?

I've been trying to make a similar one (with those same skills actually, but with the ability to swap between elemental, bombardier, and status attack) but I just dont have a charm that will let me. Is yours just a sharpness+6 with 2 slots?

It's the Crimson Fatalis Glaive, so you need to have at least beaten Gogmazios to be able to fight that guy and craft that glaive. If you do meet the requirements though, I could help you out with Crimson Fatty right now.

I need advice, I usually fight Deviljho and diablos with a gunlance, but lately I've had glaive swagger like I've been really good with it. I haven't died offline since caraveeners challenge. I just got the Fatalis urgent etc but i;m nervious about eventually doing this quest , i always wonder why some people dont use cats.

That bird have a lot of nerves to shot his ugly skin at my hunter. Then deviljho come out of nowhere and ate my cats!
Insane time! Just beat it with GS (after few tries, thou), but it takes me 39min :P But most of it was dodging, so it can be done that quick.
I keep getting killed by the Diablos because he just loves to combo me to death. If he hits me with anything, he instantly turns around and charges me, then turns around and charges me again right as I get up, then just keeps doing it until I'm dead if I'm not already dead by that point. I can't even move when he's in rage mode, the only problem is, he's ALWAYS in rage mode.
Diablos is the easiest with IG imo, you can easily kill it before it has the chance to do anything.
What combo did you use? When i use x-x-a the character moves forward way to much

hey man, can I make a petition? what about doing a solo run against a raging Brachy? I've used some of your tactics for defeating many of the Elder Dragons in G rank, and using others that work for me (i'm way more greedy with the IG combos), but Brach... I hate that guy...
ig is so muh better againts brach then lance seems to be to me. it just moves to slow , doesnt get his slime off , and when you charge he charges.
This quest is OVERWHELMINGLY hard! I am totally at a loss as to what to do! I am a VERY skilled Monster Hunter veteran & this quest is so hard, it's blowing my mind! How in the HELL am I supposed to beat this quest?! This quest is a special kind of hard! It's different from anything I've ever done in a video game! Even "Mark of a Hero" from MH3U wasn't this hard! Out of all the figurative blood, sweat & tears I've faced in video games before...THIS is literally the hardest thing I've ever done!

What do I need to bring in order to beat this quest? What weapon, armor, skills & items do I need to bring to beat this quest? I am desperate! Gimme ALL the details! Best recommendations! I am VERY good at this game, but damn! I couldn't possibly be THIS good! So what should I do?
BTW - The weapons I use right now, in this game are (Charge Blade, Hammer, Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades & Gunlance)
Sorry, I haven't used any of the weapons you've mentioned to beat this quest yet, so I can't give you any advice on that :/
Just a general thing though: there is a fence in the middle of the arena which you can use to separate Diablos and Seregios at the beginning. I'd also recommend using a weapon with Blast element, which is very effective for quests with multiple monsters.
I use the fence! Don't worry! I have the game paused right now, actually! The only monster I have left is Deviljho, but I only have one life left...so, that's bad! XD - I'm using the Chameleos GS & it's working pretty well!

I want to break my system already. Trying to finish this stupid fucking quest is driving me insane. Every single time I make it to the deviljho, it's always bullshit. I hit it over and over again and he never gets out of that stupid apex mode.
You probably aren't attacking all that much, as monsters don't take too long to knock out of Apex. You're probably being a bit defensive - but hey, all I can do is assume.
I beat it a few months ago. I just had bad luck with Jho every time after that.

Same as canta, but it's got HGE instead of challenger 2.
Challenger could work better, actually. HGE could be considered redundant, due to the Disposable Earplugs available at the Wyceum. The boost that Challenger +2 gives is INSANE, and could actually help you best that bastardly Apex Jho.

Hey CantaPerMe, have you tried redoing this quest recently with IG. I've noticed IG is your main weapon and you get a faster time using Charge blade by 20 Seconds. I was wodnering if you could actually get a faster time or not?

Do you think ditching Drive for Force might be a little faster because of the increased damage? I don't think you ever even hit a hard spot on Jho even when Drive was activated so it could be a risk vs reward thing. Also amazing run.

You are very skilled, especially with the charge blade, for some reason I tried it but when i keep stunning the head with the last charge move it takes more than 3 hits super hits on the head while i use the blade after full blackguard+, do you use the KO skill? I'm of course better with GS, SnS and Lance but only because i used them in the freedom series and for some reason in Freedom Unite my best weapon was Gunlance, but now I am struggling with it, is it weaker than in the previous games? Sorry for the questions.

CantaPerMe Monsters with the hard heads like gravios or basarios maybe the silver rathalos or golden rathian, i can upgrade to anything... Almost since I am Silver Crown G, but i would like to know... What your strategy is with the charge blade... I mostly solo, but some thing i do since the first mh game is striking only when there is a guaranteed opening with no risks, i shouldnt do that anymore, since i saw that people like yourself and some online keeps going in instantly risking theirselves... I want to try the new weapons I really do, especially on seeing you defeating them so quick... And if i may ask (you dont have to answer) how many years of experience do you have in the MH series?
Nevermind, I saw that you can charge the shield and use that super move, i didnt know that you can do that, but thanks anyways, I will try to master the charge blade, and then ill give a shot to the insect glaive

CantaPerMe My run was actually faster than yours untill jho decided he was going to spam his stand on hind legs and hit you on the other side of the arena attack. It took me too long to set up on jho and kill him

Nah, Blast Element is unaffected by Status +2 and Status Crit.
Really? I was certain Blast was a status and not an element, since it takes hits to apply and then procs, like Poison Para and Sleep.

How do you unlock this quest? I've done all of the caravan 10 quests but I never got it. I feel like there's some set of requirements I haven't met. Do you have to be like gold crown or something?

Is there a reward after it, like there is low rank?
Any tips for some one new to the insect glaive? I know you're supposed to always have the kinsect boost on. I've tried this quest with lance, longsword and switch axe and every time I make it to the jho and run out of healing stuff...
Shmandalf I've had a long conversation with "Warm Shower" some time ago on my Lv140 Teostra solovideo, you might want to read through it, otherwise, here's something that I also told said person regarding learning the Insect Glaive:
"As far as learning a new weapon is concerned, I'd recommend
watching/reading tutorials for that weapon in order to know what it is
capable of (the weapon tutorial videos by GaijinHunter are supposedly
pretty good), watching some gameplay videos of that weapon against
certain monsters also helps you get an idea of how the weapon can be
used.
As for the Glaive, the X-X-A-X-X-A-X-... infinite combo is widely
considered the 'best' combo because its dps is pretty good. I'm not too
fond of using the infinite combo exclusively though, but that's just my
personal opinion and I'd still recommend a beginner to focus on that one
combo first because it is a good combo nonetheless (+ it's easy to
memorize). Once you're more familiar with the Glaive, you can experiment
with new and different combos and slowly expand your combo arsenal.
Eventually, all these different combos will become second-nature to you
and you will be able to use them without thinking too much (at least
that's how it was for me)."
