    I grew up with Lea & Perrins here in Alabama, USA, and I'm nearly 70, and my Granddad sold it at his country store before I was born. It is a necessity for the perfect roast beef! Yummy! Loved the video. Thanks!

    ALWAYS AMAZES ME HOW MUCH THE WEDDS GROW ON LOCKS....US NORTHERNERS ARE A FRIENDLY BUNCH...LARGE STORES AND SUPERMARKETS HAVE DONE A LOT OF DAMAGE TO SMALLER SHOPS...LIKE YOU SAY...ONE SHOPPING CENTRE IS THE SAME EVERYWHERE YOU GO....SAME OLD SAME OLD....TWO OLD BOTTLE KILNS SURROUNDED BY MODERN HOUSES...WHAT A SAD INDICTMENT OF HOW COMMUNITIES HAVE DEGENERATED INTO VIOLENT PLACES SO NO ONE WILL MOOR THERE A LOSS TO LOCAL BUSINESSES...YOU MADE A GREAT JOB OF THE NEW TILING...WELL DONE....

    When you’re by cow pastures crank up the music, there are videos of people playing music , well instruments , by pastures and all the cows come running to them. It’d be interesting to see if they come to recorded music. Cows are quite interested in new things .

    Lovely vid (yet again). You have just passed within a few hundred yards from where I live. (By the swing bridge and the cricket ground). Is it a draw bridge? Whatever.
    I am very pleased that you enjoyed your time cruising through Stoke. This really is great part of England - The Peak Dist on our doorstep. We do, unfortunately get a very bad press, for the reasons that most cities do.

    Yep, Lea & Perrins here, too, as well as Worcester sauce labeled as such. Thankfully Grace introduced me to Marmite and is on the Isle of Wight visiting family and restocking even as I write this. Something that’s a bit harder to come by is malt vinegar, though it’s here. I like that with many foods, but still use organic apple cider vinegar with many things. The dish you made looked quite tasty! Smooth sailing!

    Seems to getting the same way all over the world as cities and towns bring in architects from the larger cities who made the new building look like they do in cities where they came from. modern construction is okay as long as the money side of the building fits in with rest of the local buildings.

    Vegan Worcestershire Sauce Recipe
    Ingredients
    6 tbsp apple cider vinegar
    2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    2 tsp yellow mustard
    ¼ tsp onion powder
    ¼ tsp garlic powder
    ¼ tsp ground ginger
    ⅛ tsp cinnamon
    cayenne pepper
    cloves
    Instructions
    Whisk all ingredients from vinegar through ground cinnamon together and add a light dash of cayenne or chili powder and a light dash of allspice or ground cloves with 1/4 cup water until well combined. Add salt, if desired. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
    Chef's Note: Yeast extract, such as Marmite or Vegemite, can be used in place of Worcestershire sauce if Worcestershire sauce is being used as an ingredient in something and not as a condiment or marinade.

    Hi , about 6 years ago got our mooring pins puled out whilst overnighting at Milton. Also had cyclists passing giving the V sign, don't seem a friendly bunch around there. Amazing the difference in atmosphere either end of the Harecastle tunnel.
    Having said that , as you get further down near the river section, there is a pub, I think it was The Black Cat, but memory is not brilliant, which served about 20 different Ciders. Fabulous night but legless.

    That recipe looked tasty. I love the happy pear, their recipes are so easy and delicious. The kitchen looked great, what a transformation! I had another look at boats last weekend and saw a beautiful 51 foot trad in ABNB, it would have suited me fine but at 5’10” I felt wedged into the cross bed and Ivan has concerns about the traditional engine with our three crazy mutts! The convenience of having the engine and batteries in an engine room rather than squeezing myself under the floor was appealing though. Thanks for another great video.

    Hi Rich & Fran from New Zealand. Been following your vlogs for ages should have subscribed way back so now subscribed. I enjoy your cook ups and I think L & P is available any place around the world I spent 24 years working in Papua New Guinea and yes I could buy L & P (no canals or narrowboat in that country not many roads either the nearest to a narrowboat would be a dug out canoe) Back in 2009 our family 3 adults and 4 kids (9-13 years old) hired a 70 foot narrowboat from Lower Heyford and spent 11 days up to Warwick and return us old ones enjoyed it but the kids thought it was boring not enough speed.Enjoy your summer cruise,

    • @FloatingOurBoat
      @FloatingOurBoat  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi you two. we do occasionally use substitutes. We used quorn pieces in curry when we were first vegetarian to replace meat, but now we just prefer veg curries. Linda McCartney's sausages are great. Are you thinking of giving it a go??

    • @welldeckdiaries5610
      @welldeckdiaries5610 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Floating Our Boat when we have Tacos we always use Quorn mince and have just used Quorn pieces in a red Thai curry. We have a couple of meat free meal per week and I always love trying different veggie meals when we eat out. Don’t think I’d ever give up meat but if everyone reduced their meat consumption I think it’s a step in the right direction.

    Nice trip. Agree with you about all the new builds. I moved north some forty odd years ago to a mining/ iron works town. The iron works went before I arrived and then the mine. Since then the town has changed completely and lost its sole. Due mainly to new builds occupied by people who have no interest In the town. • @FloatingOurBoat
      @FloatingOurBoat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry not to have replied before. We use the Nicholsons guides. You can pick them up at most chandlers and in the front of each there is a map telling you which guides cover your area. I hope that helps and good luck with your boat. I don't know which way you are going but bear in mind that the Macclesfield canal is closed at one point at the moment. (I'm sure you knew this anyway)

    Great vlog, as usual. I don’t know this for a fact but it seems like one of you carry a smartphone, yes? The alarm ‘clocks ‘ are very good on these devices. I gave my clocks to the grandkids as they get older and need to use an alarm. If I am mistaken, and you do not have a smart phone, I will be happy to send an alarm clock your way. I will find you a silly wind up Mickey Mouse clock. I don’t have access to a clock commemorating the birth of the new royal baby here in the states. I would ask what camera you use but a) you mentioned the go pro when you went under the low bridge and b) I have a pretty nice Nikon. It doesn’t matter how nice your camera is if you don’t have a good eye for pictures. You have a good eye and take fantastic shots. Thanks for sharing! R

      @@eddyvideostar - I have no doubt of that. The world is much smaller than it once was and I think the same could be said of almost every section of the globe, minus 2 groups (to my knowledge which is limited to public information) who purposefully isolate themselves and their people. Neither of these groups are within 1000 miles of the UK. But you tell me this for a reason. While I was offering to provide Fran and her dashing husband Rich an alarm clock, you read something else in what I said. I admit that my curiosity has gotten the better of me as I would really like to know what you saw or read. And you are sure I said/typed it?)

    Yes, we have Lea & Perrins in the U.S. Its been around as long as I can remember. Its a pantry staple. Your dinner looks tasty. Can you keep eggs without refrigeration? A egg or two mixed into the pan would be a lovely addition. I seem to remember that your brother put an offer on a boat. Has he completed the purchase? Will he be a fulltime cruiser too?

      Hi Ann. I was always taught that our eggs keep better without refrigeration and if you do chill them then take them out, they will go bad much quicker. We always try to buy from gardens or local producers if we can, so they should always be fresher anyway.
