  • THE LARGEST ANTIQUE CENTRE IN THE UK & THE BLUE ROOM AT SPODE CHINA// Hello lovely people, Last weekend Joerg and I explored the largest antique centre in the UK, Bygone Times in Lancashire and after that finally paid a visit to Spode China in Stoke-on-Trent where bought some lovely china for Christmas. At Spode we got to see the Blue Room to see the iconic blue & white china which was a dream come true. Kirsten & Joerg

    The "Brexitware" is hilarious. Lovely, lovely Spode. Thank you for taking us along. As a Brit living abroad it's great to visit parts of my home country as we're discouraged from traveling right now and I really miss home. You are always well turned out and Joerg is looking rather dapper in his wool jacket and corduroy trousers. You two are awesome!

      💐 Yes, such an utterly calm & charming couple! Spending time with them is soothing for the soul as well as all the senses.
      😍Truly adored their beautifully coordinated fashion look for this venture too. Live vicariously through their country lady & gent gear. 🍁Makes me wish I lived in the UK where it is ❄chilly and
      💧rainy☔.
      🐴Angelenos might not look like oddballs sporting that style if they hung around the equine circles of LA🏇. That is, if ever the temperature drops far enough to stand 😅wearing a blazer and long trousers.
      ☀️At 92°F & rising, we're back to sweltering Summer heat🌡. 🌤This was after enjoying a brief break of early 80s°F following the triple digit♨️heatwave @ the start of🍂October🍊.
      👀Seeing all those spectacular 🍽 antiques & fine China on top of it all was the icing on the cake🍰. Nothing satisfies more for me than attractive dishware. 🥂Hope they enjoy many happy meals with their lovely new plates!
      👏Applaud their disciplined outlook about acquiring, as much as their efforts to bring awareness to the Heritage museum and other local sites & businesses like it by drawing attention to them through their explorations.
      💛Appreciate their wonder for historical places & things.🔍Love their curiousity & interest too.
      😁Will happily join them for more day-tripping🌅.

    That is an amazing place, it caters for all tastes. I thought some of the prices a little high, but overall, a very interesting place to rummage through. Spode is always fun, I really enjoy the historic side of Spode. Bryan

    What a pleasant shopping day! I enjoy antique shops like Bygone Times and the Spode Heritage Center and Museum Shop was fun. My education is in Historical Archaeology so when (as a graduate student and early career) I see all that China, it would often be in the form of shards only. We were eager to find bits and pieces with trademarks. So much of the ceramics found in historic privies and fort communities in the US from 1800s was like what you see in the a Blue Room of the Spode Museum. I appreciate your last comments about supporting the museums that rely on visitors and their purchasing from the museum shop, especially now during uncertain times. I have worked for historical museums and funding is often weighing on their ability to offer more programs. Thank you❤️

    Hi guys! Loved this video today. Laid in bed with my sweet dog Riley for our daily nap. He slept (not interested in Spode) and I watched. I also watched you make your latest strawberry cake recipe. I have to say something, but please understand it's not to offend, you can do whatever you want when you cook. But It bothers me that you don't have rubber spatulas to scrape out every last bit of batter in the bowl before baking your treat. Sorry, retired professional here. Keep up the great videos. I'll learn to live with you not having a spatula ;-).

    • @KirstenJoerg
      @KirstenJoerg  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Amanda, Thank you! Oh there's a reason for that - we always keep a bit in the bowl because it's for me as I always use a spatula to eat a bit of the batter haha, that's the only reason, done it since I was a child.

      @@KirstenJoerg Hi Kirsten, makes sense to me! But, (don't you hate those "buts") be careful, some raw ingredients (eggs) are harmful to your tummy. After a career in restaurants and owning a bakery, I taught cooking and the one thing I drilled into my students, was "don't eat raw batter!" Now I'm an 80 year old 'know it all'. I so enjoy your channel. You two are the cutest!

    We're having a rainy day here too, and antique shopping is perfect for a day like this. I rarely buy anything when I go into such a big place, I tend to get a bit overwhelmed. I agree with your philosophy, best not to buy anything unless you're certain that you can't live without it! Lovely as always to spend time with you. Cheers!~

    I hear ya about too much "stuff". I do enjoy watching some house tours on here, I find some look like a gift shop instead of a home. You can share Christmas with those of us who don't have anyone, think I'll use my mom's "holiday" china, she would invite one side of the family for Thanksgiving, the other for New Years. Funny story about the old rotatory phones, my 14 year old granddaughter seen one at an antiques mall and I asked if she knew how to use it, I got a look of are you serious and she turned a number, then she asked..."how do you turn it on", I did try to hold back a giggle, but it came out =^)
