Gracias Gabi, useful tips. Will kia do updates for vehicles that currently don’t have wireless apple carplay for them to be wireless connected? Merry christmas and happy new year 🎉
So this is just one guy's opinion (Pat's), but I don't think so. Kia does not seem to be happy with the functionality of the wireless carplay, and I think they decided not to roll it out further. When I had a 21 Sorento, and I was doing a roadtrip, it would drop the connection every 20 minutes.

Yes!
@@BrantfordKia I used an adapter purchased from Amazon for $120CAD. It's been working without dropping connection once during my two-hour long trip from Niagara Falls to and from Newmarket. It also survived a trip to downtown Toronto which was more than an hour long due to traffic. I think Hyundai and Kia are just dragging their feet on this.
@@rogerthat24 how does the adapter work?
I got an email once the update was done. It said congratulations on my new Kia purchase. Is that normal??
Damn Gabi!! 😍
How does this update work with hybrids?
I have kia sportage 2024 and didnt find my new update in the pc app . Only 2021 and below
Awesome content, well executed 👍
Hi I have a 2021 Telluride and I only need to update the GPS. How can I do that without changing or updating anything else? I did not see anything in the owner’s guide about this. Thanks
Joe, if you don't have the "purple screen" as the main screen, then updating will change the entire look of the radio. Here's a video when we first found out the changes.

@@BrantfordKia thank you. I am fearful to make any changes as I like everything I now have except my GPS needs updating.
My 2020 Forte doesn’t have navigation. Can I still do it? What extra features do I get if I update? I don’t want to take the risk of updating it (May brick the system) if there is nothing interesting in the new version?
The update is only if you have navigation, so "no" there's no update for you vehicle.
Hey gabi just a question my car kia sorento 2021 ME when i insert the flash drive it says files not supported and my other car kia sorento 2019 American it doesn't have a sd card slot i have tried doing it with the usb it doesnt work what to do?
If you have KIA Connect Ultimate, doesn’t the updates happen automatically? Thanks.
In Canada, if you buy a new Kia that has Kia Connect, you automatically get the top package at no charge for 3 years. Kia is just starting to roll out Over the Air (OTA) updates, but it's not on all models. When the first update for OTA is available, we will shoot a video to show you how to do it.
Well done , all these tips are very useful as we will be receiving a new Sportage HEV GT Line S in January sometime ( ordered in March 2022 !) Look forward to more guides from you.
Congrats! Reach out when you get it, and let us know what you think!
@@BrantfordKia I just got a Brand New 2023 Seltos EX Premium… 3 weeks ago. Anytime I have tried to use the Navigation it sends all my screens into a seizure! My Display screen, and my Dash all start flashing on and off. The Speedometer, Odometer, Fuel Gage etc etc do not work at all! The Vehicle drives fine while this is happening. It continues to do this until I turn off the Factory Navigation system. Would doing an Upgrade fix this problem? I called the Service Department at my Local Dealer and they could not tell me over the phone what’s causing this problem. They recommended I bring the Vehicle in during the Limited Hours the Service Department is open.. Monday to Friday, 9-5! Unfortunately I am working during this time.. So it looks like I will have to do this upgrade myself. But before I do it I’d like to know if this will fix the problem?
@@Shawn-px3yz I assume it will fix the problem. The flickering may be due to bugs in the system. But I don't see SW for 2023 model
How do you update Kia Infotainment system back to Hyundai? UK Hyundai I10 Go Se 18 Plate?
I have a kia forte gt line trying to update it but it's being a real hassle I can't get that the little red star to go away so I can send text messages by voice command
I dont even have a kia. But video was still helpful 🤭😘
are there updates for vehicles that do not gave navigation like my Hyundai 2022 Tucson Preferred?
No, this update is only if the vehicle has navigation from Kia/Hyundai
During the Installation update, I had to step out so I turned off my Vehicle. what will happen if the Installation is stopped midway?
Does this also update the firmware of the car? Is the update also available OTA (Over The Air)?
Hey Gabi...Quick question...Can I update the navigation/infotainment system & change the software region at the same time as am moving the car from one region to another or does that crash the system?
Long story short; am moving the car from South Korea to Africa so would changing the region by updating the software make any issues to system?
@BrantfordKia
What minimum capacity USB is required for this?
I previously used a 32 GB USB Drive but for the earlier 2022 update used a 64 GB drive.
I agree with Ira. I usually use a 64 GB drive
I see two updates for my Kia Sportage 2022
One from early November - [Standard Gen5W Navigation] OTA updates for maps and software
And another for early December - December 2022 Navigation Map and Software Update"
Should I install them in order or just go for the latest one?
You can install the newest file.
nice, but you haven't said how much free space you need on the hard drive of the PC/mac to download.
It will vary depending on the update version. Once you enter your vehicles info the website will display available updates and how large the file is. Hope this helps.
@@BrantfordKia hi, thanks!
What if I don’t have a PC can I do it on my phone
Very helpful video. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
I think i have to do this on my 5 day old kia sorento. I tried to navigate home last night and my address doesn't exist yet on the build in navigation. Lol
the update for my telluride was 35gb...good god, why is the file so big lol
How long did it take?
@@BrantfordKia I haven't tried yet..my usb drive wasn't big enough..I had to go out and buy a 64g usb, I'll try later this week and let you know. Merry Christmas 🎄🎅
@@botcrack I just downloaded the one for my 2022 Kia Niro EV, and mine was about that size as well. I don't know why, when it lists it as only including a couple of extremely minor updates!
I will try the actual install in my car tonight when I have time, hoping it won't take too long to actually install given the size.
What happens if I have a DESKTOP , instead of a LAB-TOP?!

We try and shoot videos in one take...yeah, DESKTOP, was the right wording!
I updated my 22 Sorento SX Prestige this morning was easy as
I have a Sportage GT line 2018 model with a SD card device with 32GB space and the updates require 64GB worth SD card device. Can I instead use any USB device to download the update and install using the USB drive meant for Apple play in the dash board ?
On some models, that don't have a SD card to run the navigation, you would use the USB for the update. If your vehicle has the SD card for navigation, I don't think you can update any other way than by SD card. Let me know if the USB works, but I haven't been able to get it work.
@@BrantfordKia thank you. So do you suggest i insert a new SD card with downloads installed from the website.
What you mentioned about searching by model number and software doesn’t work on the windows program. It’s just a image, and doesn’t accept any input.
Are you guys working in this weather? That’s dedication! Happy holidays!
We closed at noon!
Does your vehicle let you know when a software update is available? I have a 2023 Sportage X Pro.
