    As someone who has both an EV6 and a Tesla model Y, these are just so, so lame. The disparity between the scope and quality of software updates on my two vehicles is wild.
    Kia seems to just be stuck in legacy auto mode with the idea that if you want improvements you better buy the next model year.

    • @TechnicallyJeff

      @@TechnicallyJeff yeah, I think they are the first entrenched automaker to realize they need to step up their game or get left behind. Hyundai/Kia are doing well in regards to electrification, but they need to catch up with software too. I think they will get there, just not on my '22 EV6.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I'm sure they will. But I agree. On the hardware side Hyundai/Kia is great. On the software side, not so much.

    Have 22 EV6 since March of 22. One of the changes I noticed is in climate control. Now it actually adjusts fan speeds down once temperature has been reached.

    • @TechnicallyJeff

      Mine has always done that in auto mode

    • @jablak91899
      @jablak91899 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting, in auto mode the fan intensity would change on auto 1,2, or 3 but it would always stay constant for that setting. You would feel the air temperature adjust but fan intensity was always the same.

    Hello Jeff, I think the new update is an absolute step backwards because of the audio. I always had my radio at level 6 and T-Box sound at level 15 (since Bluetooth or T-Box was always quieter). That was perfect, when I switched from T-Box Audio to radio, I always had the right volume. Since the update I've only had one volume for all, which means when I switch from Bluetooth to radio it blows my ears away. And I didn't find an option to have this function again or do you know something? Thanks in advance.

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm interesting. You can go to the projection settings and set the volumes there (Tbox Plus would be carplay). I wouldn't think it would make radio match whatever is set there. I honestly don't listen to the radio though so I can't speak to that part.

    Thanks Jeff. Very very disappointed. Thought I was missing something. Not sure who is the Product Owner for @Kia SW, but they are really missing out on a great opportunity to separate themselves from the masses of other manufacturers. BTW - does ANYONE use the voice command or built in map navigation? It’s pathetic as well, but I have never even heard of anyone using those is a serious manner

    • @TechnicallyJeff

      Yep I agree. In my opinion they should be really focusing on software. Easily could spend $10M a year on 20 really good software engineers to make significant changes and upgrades and it would be a drop in the bucket for them.

    the trip planning is still ass. Here is what I do not understand, the infotainment is just android, why can't kia just move to android car? like chevy and volvo

    • @TechnicallyJeff
      @TechnicallyJeff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Android Automotive has to be designed to integrate with the vehicle systems. I also don't think the S5W infotainment system has fast enough processing. There's also probably licensing costs.

    So dissapointed. I have been waiting for an update for long time at least for updated maps with more features but at least we received something. Hopefully we dont have to wait till next year to see another update and we get it by the end of the year. I would love to see changes to the themes or the icons and again a better sound . Lets see 😢

      Yeah to me it's the most frustrating that this is now almost a year after the last major update (October last year). That's crazy.

      This OTA update included a map update, but I don't give them credit for that. It's just updated maps from their nav provider.

      @@TechnicallyJeff Completely agree! Wireless projection. PC route planning pushed to the vehicle, which is already partially done through the app/owner's portal. So many things.
      What do we get? Sports scores, without the most popular sport in the US? Really? They want us to take our eyes off the road instead of giving us something useful?
      Also, the release notes are incorrect. They say that the sports scores are on the "Home" screen, but they're actually in the Kia Connect App. They have no clue what they're doing with software.
      I also know what I'm talking about because I used to write infotainment software until about a year ago. I know what's possible and useful.

      @@ChristianBorchgrevinkVigeland Sports scores that I have to focus on instead of the road isn't exactly anything I was hoping for. Wireless projection and PC route planning pushed to the vehicle would have been MUCH better offerings.
