Mick, you are a national treasure, please keep the great videos coming. Not many lawn mower channels, combine carburettor cleaning with Wife’s nickers. 😁

Remove carb and dismantle carb, remove main jet get a set of nozzle cleaners for oxygen acetylene, one nozzle cleaner will with a bit of pressure go through the small holes in the main jet emulsion tube push it all the way through and pull it back and forward a few times and repeat on all jet holes which actually makes the holes in the emulsion tube slightly larger ,reassemble refit carb and it will start 1st and 2nd pull, problem is they are built for emmisions. As a Honda power equipment tech I always ultrasonically clean then ever so slightly enlarge the emulsion tube holes, works every time. ,PS Do Not Use E10 fuel and use fuel additive.
Nice job mick I love your videos after a day fixing chainsaws mowers and strimmers nice to sit on my garden bench with a beer and my dog and watch you great stuff
Thanks for a great video! In case it's useful, after 3 carb cleans my Honda Izy (HRG 415) was still surging then I checked jet under Phillips screw (at 10.23 in your vid) and found it blocked! Cleared with fine wire from a bag tie (the ones you twist around a bread bag) and loads of WD40! Hey presto, engine now runs fine!

I suggest you clean the outside of the carb before you take it apart Mick, that way your less likely to introduce more dirt back into the carb. Also after a squirt cleaning fluid you use an air line, save on cleaning fluid.

Dont know if you or anyone can help . Ihave bought a tiller for my allotment with a mountfield Manor Compact 36 engine on it. motor is hunting a bit which okay I can hopefully sort with cleaning the carb. The air filter though is really oily, I have ordered a new one but my concern it why. Its only connected to the carb. Would the poor running be making the air filter oily by having a blocked carb or is it a sign of something else. Machine is pretty new by the looks of it and still works well but I want it running properly. Thanks in advance.

No worries me old slap stick
If you're having to clean more than once give proper carb cleaner a try again, it breaks the emulsion down better than GT85 and WD.
