It's brief (especially the front view), so it's hard for me to identify, but it looks like it might be Damascene, a multiple-metal inlay technique, possibly Spanish. I bought some when I was in Toledo, Spain about 15 years ago. Gorgeous stuff. As others have mentioned, your channel is fascinating, and you have a marvelous voice. I stumbled on you because of the hoarder house, and found myself just watching more and more. I don't subscribe to many channels here (Simon's Cat, TED Talks, and a few Tiny House videos, mostly!), and don't often watch what I subscribe to, even. That said, you've captured my attention enough to have me coming back for more. Also, anyone who can do justice to both Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash at the same time has my vote. I do hope you get to talk to Mary, and if you do, you have to tell her that there are many from all over the world who love her pottery and that are very happy they got to see them through your videos. They are beautiful and lucky are those that can own one of her pieces of art or just touch them. I know I would be thrilled. I believe her life must have been a very interesting one, one could only imagine. I can see how her house looked before she got sick, filled with art, colors, music and pieces she picked up during her travels. She walking around in one of the colorful dresses from the 70’s and clay under her finger nails. I’m intrigued by her, and wished I knew her. I hope she is thriving where she is now and that she’s well. Her belongings have taken us through history and brought us memories and smiles. I think that mostly all who have followed the adventure through the artists house sits with a feeling of deep respect for this lady. We know life can take us to dark places and we do not judge her for how her house looked, we only feel love for this unknown artist that now no longer is unknown. A very well done series. The Kodak camera will be easy enough to research, a quick search looks like an Eastman Kodak 25 BT 50 Vest Pocket Camera, one on ebay for in good conditions $136 with leather case. Believe it takes 127 film. Has the little window on the backside with a stylus so you could jot notes on the films paper backing that transferred to the film. Film's still available too, expired but photogs often like using old film for getting a different look. I've been in the photo biz since I was a pup, teaching & shooting news and some collecting too.
Gold crowns, partials and other gold repaired teeth were routinely taken out at the funeral home and returned to the decedent's family, along with any other precious metal items such as wedding rings and pocket watches, etc. It was done to discourage graverobbing, which was an unfortunate fact until the "incentive" was removed.
Gold repaired teeth are still removed before cremation. The coffin ⚰ as well. I got several screws and metal parts after my grandmother was cremated recently. She turned 106 years old in perfect health, living alone since 1953 in an extremely clean household, without any help.
My ex father in law pulled his teeth to get dentures, and he kept all his good teeth which we inherited and sold when the gold price was at its highest.

The little box of patches are very special. The individual patches are know as Cigarette Silks. Each one came as a bonus in a pack of cigarette and were collected like baseball cards. Sewing them together for a crazy quilts was the fashion.

I just started watching you a few days ago, the 3-part episode "We bought a hoarder house!" Watching it was overwhelming and a little depressing... But now I don't feel so bad about cleaning out my own place--sorting, packing, getting rid of stuff. A real pain, but it could be worse! Interesting that you actually like doing this kind of chore. Maybe it's the hunt for surprise treasures; I know I don't have any! I think the success of your channel, besides being informative and entertaining, is your pleasant personality, professional delivery, and getting your family involved. Plus, the song at the end! At first I thought, "Oh boy, here we go, amateur hour." But was I wrong--it was great! I like Leonard Cohen, but I'd never heard that one. So, keep it up. How I admire your ethics and passion for what you do. Making sure that the pictures get back to the family is a blessing that most of us might take for granted. When I was young, my parents had to put their worldly possessions into storage. (My life situation loosely mirrors yours - even the motel.) I will never, ever miss the furniture and other 'things, ' but the one thing that always burns a little hole in my heart are the pictures that we lost. My parents as young people, me and my siblings as little babes and children, me in my very first EVER crinolined party dress (my parents never had a lot of money, so this must have been a sacrificed expense for them), old homes that we lived in, goofy Christmas pictures and such. THOSE loses still hurt because I don't have my family with me any more. Thank you, on behalf of all the people whose possessions you come in contact with, for your compassion and dedication to honoring those whose contents bring you your livelihood and blessed time with your family. I appreciate all that you do!

Going to go on a bit of tangent here but those silver spoons and forks reminded me.. For much of my childhood I lived in a old farmhouse that was apart of Wye Plantation. Unfortunately, my ancestors were slave owners. But we actually found a book one of the slaves kept and it had a lock of her hair in it. She would mostly write down things she needed to buy or things that needed to be fixed or things she had to do. There were tons of grocery lists. But she also wrote down day to day stuff. She lived in a slave quarters under the back staircase. Which.. bothers the hell out of me that someone was actually living in that tiny dark space. But anyways, we had a wooden chest full of silver silverware, another with a ton of tin photographs, and her book and ALL were stolen when we moved. We have a feeling it was actually a friend of my dad's who stole it and not the moving company. The moving company guys seemed really upset for us and went out of their way to try to locate it. They seemed genuine. My dad's friend however, did not. Nothing could really be done about it. We also had a box of old copper cups that I loved using (nothing like a cold glass of milk from a copper cup. No idea why it was so pleasant but it was). That went missing to. I remember the cop asking my mom what the value of it all was and she just looked at him, a bit annoyed, and said "absolutely priceless!". It wasn't about the monetary value. I'd do anything to have those things today and I hope, wherever they are, they're being taken care of and appreciated for what they are.
I feel your pain . My neighbors keep stealing from me because I am a widow. A lot of sentimental items have been taken from me. The police do nothing because they never investigate them. I even caught one of them coming down my driveway, once again the police did not question them.After watching them for some time, they sell things at flea markets and other open marketplaces. Yes ,hopefully moving this year. Just a lot of work and money. It's so sad that there are such pathetic individuals in this world.

The Kodak camera will be easy enough to research, a quick search looks like an Eastman Kodak 25 BT 50 Vest Pocket Camera, one on ebay for in good conditions $136 with leather case. Believe it takes 127 film. Has the little window on the backside with a stylus so you could jot notes on the films paper backing that transferred to the film. Film's still available too, expired but photogs often like using old film for getting a different look. I've been in the photo biz since I was a pup, teaching & shooting news and some collecting too.
Gold crowns, partials and other gold repaired teeth were routinely taken out at the funeral home and returned to the decedent's family, along with any other precious metal items such as wedding rings and pocket watches, etc. It was done to discourage graverobbing, which was an unfortunate fact until the "incentive" was removed.
Gold repaired teeth are still removed before cremation. The coffin ⚰ as well. I got several screws and metal parts after my grandmother was cremated recently. She turned 106 years old in perfect health, living alone since 1953 in an extremely clean household, without any help.
My ex father in law pulled his teeth to get dentures, and he kept all his good teeth which we inherited and sold when the gold price was at its highest.

The little box of patches are very special. The individual patches are know as Cigarette Silks. Each one came as a bonus in a pack of cigarette and were collected like baseball cards. Sewing them together for a crazy quilts was the fashion.

I just started watching you a few days ago, the 3-part episode "We bought a hoarder house!" Watching it was overwhelming and a little depressing... But now I don't feel so bad about cleaning out my own place--sorting, packing, getting rid of stuff. A real pain, but it could be worse! Interesting that you actually like doing this kind of chore. Maybe it's the hunt for surprise treasures; I know I don't have any! I think the success of your channel, besides being informative and entertaining, is your pleasant personality, professional delivery, and getting your family involved. Plus, the song at the end! How I admire your ethics and passion for what you do. Making sure that the pictures get back to the family is a blessing that most of us might take for granted. When I was young, my parents had to put their worldly possessions into storage. (My life situation loosely mirrors yours - even the motel.) I will never, ever miss the furniture and other 'things, ' but the one thing that always burns a little hole in my heart are the pictures that we lost. My parents as young people, me and my siblings as little babes and children, me in my very first EVER crinolined party dress (my parents never had a lot of money, so this must have been a sacrificed expense for them), old homes that we lived in, goofy Christmas pictures and such. THOSE loses still hurt because I don't have my family with me any more. Thank you, on behalf of all the people whose possessions you come in contact with, for your compassion and dedication to honoring those whose contents bring you your livelihood and blessed time with your family. I appreciate all that you do!

The silk patches look like cigarette patches... they were the same as the old baseball cards. They did also come in flowers and animals and flags of the world
I looked them up on ebay and what they sold for, each little silk was anywhere from $4 to $30.

Going to go on a bit of tangent here but those silver spoons and forks reminded me.. For much of my childhood I lived in a old farmhouse that was apart of Wye Plantation. Unfortunately, my ancestors were slave owners. But we actually found a book one of the slaves kept and it had a lock of her hair in it. She would mostly write down things she needed to buy or things that needed to be fixed or things she had to do. There were tons of grocery lists. But she also wrote down day to day stuff. She lived in a slave quarters under the back staircase. Which.. bothers the hell out of me that someone was actually living in that tiny dark space. But anyways, we had a wooden chest full of silver silverware, another with a ton of tin photographs, and her book and ALL were stolen when we moved. We have a feeling it was actually a friend of my dad's who stole it and not the moving company. The moving company guys seemed really upset for us and went out of their way to try to locate it. They seemed genuine. My dad's friend however, did not. Nothing could really be done about it. We also had a box of old copper cups that I loved using (nothing like a cold glass of milk from a copper cup. No idea why it was so pleasant but it was). That went missing to. I remember the cop asking my mom what the value of it all was and she just looked at him, a bit annoyed, and said "absolutely priceless!". It wasn't about the monetary value. I'd do anything to have those things today and I hope, wherever they are, they're being taken care of and appreciated for what they are.
I feel your pain . My neighbors keep stealing from me because I am a widow. A lot of sentimental items have been taken from me. The police do nothing because they never investigate them. I even caught one of them coming down my driveway, once again the police did not question them.After watching them for some time, they sell things at flea markets and other open marketplaces. Yes ,hopefully moving this year. Just a lot of work and money. It's so sad that there are such pathetic individuals in this world.

It's unfortunate, but some people want to possess things without knowing (or caring) about their meaning to others. That's kind of what makes Alex different. He gets that and tries his best to accommodate (whenever humanly possible) the people he gets these treasures from..
