74 year old retired illustrator/cartoonist. Love...love your classes and seeing things new again. Sit here at my wacom relearning like never before. Your personal way of explaining and demonstrating is the best...it took me decades to put it together the way it used to be taught. Pay attention young people and save yourself years of frustration.

I've been having an unreasonably hard time understanding a good process for drawing props lately, and this explains it extremely well. I really love how you break them down into tiers, it's really helpful for knowing what kinds of things I should put into a portfolio to show different levels of complexity. Thanks for sharing this lesson!

Thank you for this! I am a complete novice. I had no idea prop design was an actual process of coming up with several ideas/designs for a concept/theme so I definitely learned soemthing new today.

Hi, Phil! How are you? Hope you are doing great! =]
I would like to thank and congratulate you for this amazing work you are doing on your channel! It's like you know exactly what I need and you are posting the exactly what I need!!! Haha! So, thank you so much!
I took your class on CGMA back in 2011, if I record it well! Back in that day, I was really, REALLY, insecure about my drawing skills and didn't take the right amount of advantage from your class.
But I persisted! I really think that I'm much better draftsman now, and I'm really glad that you were a part of those teachers that kept inspiring me!
So, I really can't thank you enough! I really, REALLY appreciate what you are doing here! =]
I was wondering if could coach me. It would mean a lot! And that's ok if you don't! You must be a very busy guy! If that's the case, could point me someone who could do this kind of service? Of course, I will pay you!
So, thank you so much, Phil! My best to you from Brazil! =]

Hi there Henrique...I remember....thanks for the comment. Perhaps we can meet in the middle... I am pretty busy, but I feel suggestions from you or comments to move in a direction of videos might help you, my current students, and other artists. If that all makes sense. What are you struggling with??

    • @o_bebeco
      @o_bebeco 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Ok... Hi, Phils!! It took me some time for me to digest that you responded and you were very kind and very attentious! Thank you so much! You can't imagine how appreciated I am! =]
So, my biggest struggle right now is: portfolio! I think I am still lost in that area! I have been doing some therapy, because my anxiety about this is pushing me back and I think that it's matter of for what area should I aim for, you know?
So, I live in Brazil. The entertaiment area is practically nonexistent, but, hey, we have the internet, right? I could try some work in the area? Right? Or am I wrong? It's so difficult that I should give up? There are so many good brazilian artists, you may know some of their comic book jobs, like Mike Deodato Jr, Ivan Reis, Rafael Albuquerque, even in the entertaiment field we have someone like Rafael Grassetti, who is art director in Santa Monica Studios. He's working on the new God Of War game.
Anyway, I'm pursuing this field for a few years. 8, I think, by now. It's kind of a learning by myself kind of thing, since the city where I live doesn't have any art school. The best known for it is located in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, the biggest cities. I lived some time in São Paulo. But it's too expansive. I'm back to my parents house now. Studying by myself again.
So, this is it: I want to build a portfolio! I just don't know where should I begin. My previous teacher appointed me to start at Prop Design first. I agree. But still, I have a lot of doubts. I'm very insecure if that's the right path to go. I don't know if you can help me (or even if you are going to read this text - I hope at least it's entertaining, hahahaha). I think I can draw a lot better now. If I could show you some of my work, my contact is: hbarduchi@hotmail.com . I know that you are busy, but you can take your time to answer me. It means a lot if you read this far. Again, we can pay for some classes!
I really appreciatte your help, Phils! Thank you so much! Hope to read from you soon! Take care! All the best for you!
      - Henrique

Hi Henrique, I did read everything. I understand your situation...I know it can be stressful and difficult, but don't have anxiety over it...it is only art and is supposed to be fun. I will do a video for you on planning a portfolio. I will email you real quick... I think that would be a great video...

Oh, man, there are tears of joy in my eyes right now!!! Hahahaha! =]
Phil, you don't realize how appreciated I am right now, I just can't thank you enough for being so kind!
      You are a real teacher!
      A real master!!!
And, please, take your time! From someone who waited so long for this kind of guidance, I can wait a bit more!!!
Man, I just can't describe how happy I am, and please, don't feel pressured to help me! Really, just for having this kind of conversation it's like a huge wait was taken off my shoulders!!!
Thank you so much, Phil!!! =D
PS: yes, I could help you with what kind of videos you could do to help us. Since I have been a long time student, I am confident to say what are (were) my doubts, and what steps that I would had like I had studied before, to learn and become a better artist!
      Thank you! So much! =]
