I love that. I forget who it was, but I know one of the Elphabas I saw in person made this fun choice where whenever she got upset or very passionate she started taking on a more sing song vocal cadence that reminded me of the 39 version
if you haven't, you have to see the video of the set designer/architect working on the huge sets for this! truly remarkable how much they built as opposed to cgi

I love the musical but expected this movie to be a 2.5 hour soulless cash grab that the studio was gonna try to milk a second movie out of. So when my spouse dragged me to the theater to see it, I was fully prepared to hate it. I LOVED IT!! I dont usually rewatch movies in theaters, but I'm going back to see Wicked again before it leaves the big screen.

talking about the bottle at 4:38 is a big spoiler to me for someone who never seen the broadway or the wizard of oz film and the fact that I don't remember that ever mentioned in the wicked part 1

However, it is included so they can do a prequel, sequel, or flashbacks related to it in the future. But no worries, for this iteration, it isn’t included in the story, just present as a memento from her mother which we see her mother drinking from at the start of the film. Only very astute watchers, that didn’t previously know, would notice the silhouette of the man in the door was Jeff Goldblooms likeness, or the glowing green bottle hinted at a source for Elphaba being green or having magic. It’s very subtle, so they can revisit it later if necessary. You know they are hoping for a success that they can make multiple films for…
The Wicked movie is the complete polar opposite of Phantom of the Opera movie (I share your disappointment with the Phantom movie). Hope you get to go see it and bring tissues! 💚💗💚💗
I guess it’s up for interpretation, the whole “have another drink of green elixir” and emphasizing how much she needed to keep drinking it I had always figured there was a decent chance it was not fully consensual

(The wizard wasn’t the first time she invited strangers into the house- nor the last; see Turtle Heart).

I saw the musical live and I remember the actress playing the mother make it very clear that she hated her husband and had affairs often with the Wizard. They even do that in the movie. It was definitely a mutual act being done, at least in my eyes lmao
