It's so wonderful to find left-handed instructions, and with a video! I learned from my mother, who was left-handed, many years ago and have just started crocheting again after a very long time. My mom isn't with us anymore, and no one else in my family crochets or is left-handed. Thank you so much; your instructions are very easy to follow!
So glad I found your channel! I learned basic crochet some 35+ years ago from my grandmother who taught me facing me. I was the only leftie in the entire family! Your tutorials are easy to understand and follow and really helped me remember everything she taught me years and years ago!
Subscribed ! I like how this lady teaches beginners , as I've found others go way..... to fast Also appreciate that she has shown left handers how to crochet, as it can be very difficult trying to reverse the technique shown by a right hander . 👍
I love working with this yarn. Thank you for showing left handed tutorials, it does make it easier to follow along. My tension is tight so I use a larger hook for the foundation chain to keep it from bowing.
May I just thank you so much for sharing this tutorial, as it’s shown beautifully for what I need! I’m a beginner and have never even attempted to pick up a croquet needle before. Thanks to your tutorial im going to try! 👏🏻

Thank you for this left handed instruction! I was watching and attempting to try with what I had on hand (regular yard and a smaller crochet hook and it worked out fine for learning purposes but it felt wonky like trying to write with my right hand but I did a chain anyway. Then I read in your description and saw this left handed version! I’m so excited! I have these baby blankets she crocheted for me and I have pictures and stories from others. Thank you for the beautiful blanket pattern. I've been crocheting since a child and I'm a South paw. It was such a treat to have instructions for lefty. I would like a conversion chart of alphabet - mm for size of hook. My hooks only have alphabet.

Hi Barbara, I'm a lefty too and this is the best & most versatile video I have found on U-tube. She has so many helpful things recorded I'm having a hard time choosing what I want to do. Besides all that, you can find a chart on the net that will show you the letttered hooks ratio to the millimeter hooks. Check out Safari or Google I'm sure they have a chart that can help you. You can always use whichever hook looks best & is easiest to use you know? Hope this helps, us lefties have to stick together! Patty 🧓
I really enjoyed watching you make this baby blanket !! I’m just learning to crochet and am left-handed. My biggest problem so far is I can’t hold my yarn!! It winds up next to my hook and off my fingers, etc !! Is this a common problem for new crocheters?? I finally found a place where I can try to learn crocheting and knitting for left-handed people--so happy over that, want to thank you for giving us “lefties” a chance” to learn...👏👏👏 I am 74 yrs old, but you never get too old to learn, do you? May God God bless you dearly... Nancy Lopez. 🌹🌷🌺🌸🤗🤗🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much, I’m glad my tutorials have helped you and I find it really inspiring that you are learning a new skill at 74 😊 I find that holding the yarn is something that will get better with practise; you might find that the way I show in the tutorial doesn’t suit you and that you prefer a different method instead. This is absolutely fine as there is no right and wrong method to crochet 😊
I am so glad the I found this video. It was awesome and slow enough for me to follow thank you so much. It is not easy to find crochet patterns for left handed people.
If the bottom of your blanket is curving it's usually because the starting chain is too tight; you can try to crochet the chain more loosely or go up a hook size for the chain stitches only 😊
I feel like the fluffiness of this yarn would confuse me really easily, but I like the stitch repeat so I may try it with some standard chunky or super chunky yarn :) I have been struggling with my end stitches a little, but having more success since I started using a stitch marker
Hi Barbara I don't sell this yarn, it can be found here:- bit.ly/Bernatbaby if it is out of stock it's just a matter of checking to see when it will be back in. Hope you and your family are all keeping safe and well :)
Love your detailed instructions for us left handed people! I have a question for you, though. My work became hooked starting the second and third row. What am I doing wrong? How do I make sure that the blanket turns out even? Again, thank you, in advance.
I'm glad you find my instructions helpful! 😊 Have you made sure that you're working into every stitch along, including the top of the turning chain when you reach the end of the row? Missing this will cause the sides to become uneven.
@@bellacococrochet I apologize for not seeing your reply sooner. I have, actually, tried to make other blankets and they are less crocked on the sides. I guess that practice makes perfect. Thank you, again.
Hi there - I think that I would be able to create this blanket with your amazing instructions. However, I would like it to go on a chair for an adult. Is it easy to make it bigger and what size would you suggest? How many stitches instead of 53?
@bellacococrochet thank you so much. I've bought the wool in Vanilla and Mist Green and a hook so I'll be starting tomorrow... well, work will get in the way, but I'll start as soon as I can!!!
This pattern is designed to look lovely without a border but there's no reason why you can't add one 😊 I have a blog post showing some of my favourites here: bellacococrochet.com/my-favourite-crochet-borders/
This would depend on the type of yarn you will be using, your hook size and your personal tension. I would suggest that you either do a small swatch and work it out from there or chain until you reach the size that you want :)
How do I fix my tension? Whenever I go to pull through my 3 loops it seems like it doesn’t want to willing go through the second two and I have to force it.
How many rows did it take you to complete this baby blanket.... I'm making this for my 4 month old daughter 😊😊... Thank you for making this so easy for us
are there any other types of wool you would recommend for this? would love to have a go but struggling to find stock of the bernat yarn online! thanks :)
Hello! I am unable to open the written pattern on your website, would you please tell me how many total rows you made for your finished product? Thank you!
Make sure you're working into the top of the turning chain at the end of each row - it looks different to a normal stitch and if you miss it then you'll have one less stitch each time 😊
Hi Ruchika if you go to my blog at bellacococrochet.com you can find all the details and the written pattern which will give you the number of rows of each colour :)
If you use a larger hook size than recommended you may find that your blanket is looser looking, with bigger spaces in between the stitches. I would make a small swatch before you begin a full sized blanket to make sure you're happy with how it looks 😊
