Over 50 lefty who never had the opportunity to learn crochet. I have now completed my 3rd granny square and am so excited to finish. So amazing what we can learn from each other. Big thank you, Bella!!
Thank you SO much for doing left handed versions. I've tried learning to crochet so many times but could never get the hang of it when learning from a right handed person. I am so grateful to have found this!
Being the only left handed person in my family made it impossible to learn to crotchet, this is the best video ever, I have watched it over and over and over...I am on my second blanket now...thank you so much for this.... Power to the Lefties !!!
These tutorials are brilliant, I've tried to crochet since I was a kid but being left handed I found it too confusing especially being taught by right handed family. I was determined to learn to do granny squares, and I have thanks to you. I'll keep coming back to learn more techniques.....thank you 😊
I follow your tutorials religiously. The right handed granny square tutorial is how I started my first ever crochet project. Being left handed I worked it out not knowing that there is a left handed tutorial. From there I have learnt every pattern in both UK and US terms. I have done numerous projects and have visited many patterns and tutorials and I have to say that yours are the easiest to follow. Tutorial matches written patterns if given, camera is on point, you allow to pause and catch up, you explain the stitch pattern and also teach the stitch itself. Through what you have taught me, I can now read both UK and US patterns with ease. Through what you have taught me I have started my own little craft business and after a year of different projects, I am now receiving orders for the things I am making. Religiously learning, plenty of late nights and a lot of frogging and redoing, the hard work is paying off. Thank you. You opened up a different world for me. One I very much enjoy, because it leaves me both exhausted and exhilarated at the same time. (South Africa-Durban)
This really inspired my daughter to start crocheting. Now, she works with all of her heart to be the best and do the best thing. She is 13 years old, and is making hats and blankets for the premies at the hospitals all around the United States. Thank you so much.
Finally someone who can teach me how to crochet! I'm a lefty and it's always been a passion for me to learn. My Mom tried to teach me when I was a teen but I wasn't patient enough. Thanks!!!
This is an AMAZING tutorial I’m the absolute worst at crocheting and after many many tutorials and starting over like a million times I finally made a granny square! I’m so pleased 😁
Thank you for this tutorial. It's nice to have left-handed crocheting tutorials out there, and I appreciate how slow and detailed your instructions were. I'll probably re-watch this video several times in the process of making a baby blanket for my friend. :) Oh, and I'm American, but I think "treble" crochet is the more appropriate term for this stitch!
Thank you so so much for doing this left handed video. For about a year I've tried on and off and failed to make a granny square and today your video taught me how. I'm so so grateful and I'm off to Loveknitting to get some of that lovely yarn you use. You've made me so happy today, thank you, x!
Thank you so much. I am left handed and had never done this before and by the end of your video I've made a granny square woo hoo! Thank you so much, I'm going to make a whole blanket now! :)
My mum was a tremendous crotcheter but no matter how often she tried I could never quite grasp the technique. Thanks to your tutorial now I'm beginning to master it - thank you so much. Great tutorial, easy to follow and LEFT HANDED - yay!!
Thanks alot for posting this, I searched all over youtube for the right tutorial but they were all for right handed people, and not for lefthanders like me. But now that i have found your tutorial I have finally made my first granny square, and i had no trouble doing it! :)
Thank you for this. I've been wanting to learn how to crochet for some time after I learned how to knit, but nobody knew how to teach me because I'm left handed too. The instructions were so clear and easy to follow, I think I might finish two granny squares today :)
He'ya!! This has been so helpful to me. I'm a 60+'r and crochet fluently with my right hand. well I'm leaning with my left so I can teach my lefty mother-in-law whose an 80+r. This video has helped me tremendously. Thanks!!
Thank you absolutly brilliant ... I am making my beauutiful Two year old grandaughter a 2020 Granny square blanket thanks to your calm voice and my concentration ...
My mom is a lefty and she couldn't quite figure out how to stitch the granny square. I came across your video, showed it to her, and now she's half way done with her first blanket ! Thank you =)
I haven't crocheted in awhile, and I was taught by a right-handed person and just had to figure out own my own how to switch it. It was really helpful to see a left-handed person make a granny square; it all came back to me and I had someone to get a visual idea from. Thank you!
FANTASTIC !!! im a lefty and always been a knitter/sewer but could never get the hanf of crochet....until now, thankyou soooo much iv done 2 squares up to now, the 2nd one i paused after the first round then i went it alone and did it woooo hoooo THANKYOU !!!!
Thank you soooo much for the fantastic left handed crochet tutorials xxxxxx. They are fantastic and I have found them sooo easy to follow. You have re-inspired a dejected wanna be crochet lover to get back into it after years and to finally understand how to do it!. Please, please, please convert all your crochet tutorials into left handed ones as I struggle to follow the right handed ones. Thank you so much again xxxx Keep doing what you do it's fab. Helen xx
This was great! I just started crocheting three days ago with a group of women from my local church, and I had great difficulty because I am the only left-handed person in the class. This video made such a difference, and I just finished my first granny square!!
for the 1st time I was able to make a granny square because of you.! you explained clearly and slowly for beginners like me.please keep posting videos.i am so liking it
Thank you so much Bella! I started crocheting a few weeks ago, and I just fell in love with this. You explain everything perfectly, and go slowly. I have just finished my first baby blanket.
I'm a 1st timer so so far I've just done the single stitch and the magic circle and now after this video I'm ready for the square. This video is/was wonderful and thanks for also putting in there how to add a different color.
I am left handed. It was hard learning from my mother who is right handed. After watching your tutorial, I now understand what she was trying to explain. Going to buy some yarn to make a small blanket. Thank you for putting this out there.
Absolutely brilliant. I've been trying to teach myself to crochet for years and got nowhere fast. All I ever managed was basic chain . After following Bella's video a couple of times I've mastered the treble chain and a bit more practice and watch the video again and I'm sure I'll be able to produce a proper square. Thank you so much Bella xx
Thank you kindly Ma'am for sharing this video for left-handed crocheter's. I am left-handed and disabled I use a tension ring as I have cerebral palsy they really do help while you crochet. 😊
Thank you so much for showing the left handed crochet. I am 68 and decided to make a granny square blanket for a from 'across the pond' in Sweden. I am in the USA. I know how to do the crochet stitch and am glad you explained the difference between the standards. I still haven't decided if I am going to make one single square or use smaller ones and connect them later. I might do 1 using a variegated neutral color. Then, once we know if it's a boy or girl, I can add a row of that 'gender color' to each end to form a rectangle. I might even try adding a slightly larger square over one corner to make a hood.
I'm a lefty to and I just started to teach myself to crochet and I had help through fb message with someone who else is a lefty she helped out a lot. I can't wait to start this work thank you for the video
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am excited to continue learning from you Sarah! Very well done, by the way - hard to believe this was your first ever tutorial.
Well this was hands down the best tutorial I've watched and used to the point I've just managed to crochet my first ever granny square!! I've tried so many times and given up so thankyou ☺ I can officially say now that I can crochet 😁
I’m a lefty and always wanted to learn to crochet, but couldn’t grasp it by watching a right hander.I’m well on the way to perfecting the art now since watching your video. Thank you
Thank you for the tutorial. I have just decided to learn to crochet and I am learning by watching tutorials on TH-cam. Your granny square is the first piece that I have actually made. You made it easy to understand and I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I am not ready to make a large piece yet so I decided to keep going and turn the square into a pot holder. I am still having a hard time holding the yarn firm and keeping an even tension so I am going to make another matching pot holder to practice. 😀👍🏻
Thank you Sarah! After a lot of tries (I lost count), I made one, and then 2 more after that (even without referring to the video). Its easy when you understand the principle. As a fellow leftie, I thank you for making this video! Lots of love.
So easy to follow, thank you so much. I am going to work my way through all the different patterms and make squares to make into a cushion cover then a blanket.
Thank you for the tutorial. It was clear and easy to follow. I haven’t crocheted for years and it was nice to have a refresher, especially from a fellow lefty.
ive been crocheting for a few years but my mom wants to learn to crochet (she's left handed) but nobody knows how to do left handed crochet to teach her. This video was amazingly easy to learn how to do it so that I can show her. Thanks!
so good to find this tutorial, a right handed person tried to teach me last week but it was so hard for her and for me, this was great, very clear and easy to follow, thank you :)
Watching this in 2018!! And finally I can do more than chain stitch!!! Now all the family will get a blanket for their Birthday, like it or not. Thank you sooo much.
I loved your video...took me a bit as I didn’t like the fast forwarding but watching it ten times and writing out the steps helped...I have made twenty squares,...need to make 300for a Batman blanket I am making
Thank you I have never been able to crotchet and I am now 70! I am left handed and you made it look so easy. I have finally completed my first granny square and really happy.
I love your tutorials. I have been trying to Crochet for years... probably around 10 years. I always got so frustrated with it. The other night i was sitting on the couch and decided to try again. I found your tutorial on TH-cam and did the Granny Square as you did it. This is the first time i have EVER been able to make ANYTHING with crochet. Then i tried your African Flower, and i accomplished that one too. You are a fantastic teacher. Would you please post some more videos. I am going to try and make baby booties. Thank you SO much for posting tutorials.
Also, i'm from the US and find the UK terminology makes more sense. I don't know if that's because i am learning from you or what. UK just makes more sense to me.
Thank you so much Bella! I started crocheting a few weeks ago, and I just fell in love with this. You explain everything perfectly, and go slowly. Also, I love your pastel colors! Anyways, thanks again.
i wanted to start crocheting and watched a few videos and they were freaking me out since i just couldn't get the hang of it Thank you so much for uploading a tutorial for lefties Really appreciate it
This is such a brilliant tutorial! I've been wanting to crochet for years, and couldn't quite figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much for making it so simple. Looking forward to more 💚
I am newbie. So far can make 3 loop stitches.. duh. But your tutorial inspires me. You made a lot of sense. It was the making a circle and starting from there that totally confused me before. Thank you xx

I loved it ❤ Thank you Bella for all your amazing videos !! I really fall in love with the colours that you use!! I've learned a lot form you!! you're my best "crochet teacher" ever!! Love you Bella !! ❤
Hi Bella, Thank you for your tutorials.I bought the yarn from the website you linked, mentioned you as suggested and because of it I benefited and inaddition I recieced a next day delivery. im just waiting for the hooks and will be starting thereafter. take care.
Thank you this video was very helpful I am from canada and just starting too learn how to crochet. I got the middle part so far I am having a little trouble with the next part but im getting there so thank you !!!
This was great thank you. Your instructions are clear and you move slow enough for me to follow, I just need to watch more carefully.. You might want to highlight the importance of which way you wrap the yarn round the hook as it did take me a numerous attempts to the first round down. Once you've mastered that it's relatively straight forward. Highlighting mistakes is helpful so that if people go wrong they can pick up easier why. Looking forward to practicing and trying out your other videos.
Great tutorial. It really helped me a lot. One suggestion I have is maybe stopping a couple times to show the camera what it looks like before you move onto another step would be helpful. Visual comparisons are big for me and not being able to get that clear of the work in between steps was a little bit hard, but hey, I made my very first granny square using this video so you're doing a lot of stuff right!
Hi Sarah Jayne Great tutorial, I've just started using this yesterday in my attempt to learn crochet in 2016! Is there any chance you could upload a short tutorial/blog post on exactly how to turn your crochet hook e.g. whilst doing 'yarn over'. It feels very unfamiliar at the moment and I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I've ended up with some loose trebles, but maybe thats due to poor tension and this stage too. Thanks again for the great videos. I look forward to practicing more granny squaring, and your flower coaster is on my list too. xx
Thanks , i ❤ the granny stitch , i taught myself how to do it in straight row form a few years ago back , thanks for showing me how to do the granny square stitch
made my first granny square, being left handed watch a LOT of videos, then searched for left handed and thank you easy to do and understand

Very informative. Well filmed and your voice is really calming for the instructions. Thank you

Thank you so much! I have learned how to crochet and do the square in 2 days
Erika Nagy yay! well done :) x
Very helpful, great pace. I'm ready to get started.
Thank you for showing me how to crochet lefthanded love your site
Elizabeth Stocks thank so much :) x
I found your video as i wanted to left hand crochet. Thanks for thinking of us
You are very welcome :)
Hi Sarah Jayne
Great tutorial, I've just started using this yesterday in my attempt to learn crochet in 2016!
I look forward to practicing more granny squaring, and your flower coaster is on my list too.
xx
Brilliant thanks, I'm just attempting to learn and your video is great!
Thank you and good luck :)
