@@GamingUniversityUoG I think the game got off to a really bad first impression by being a "TV" game only on Xbox One, amidst the absolutely awful "TV TV TV" announcement. Microsoft pretty much lost that console generation just by trying hard to appeal to anyone except gamers, and it made Quantum Break look like it was another attempt to be anything but a game.

One thing to keep in mind also is that while QB is probably not in the same "universe" as AW/Control, we know that people in the RCU can get glimpses into other worlds (Alan writing about Max Payne, Alan Wake being a video game in QB), so ripples may still reach "across" the universes.
I think that's the biggest thing j try to get across. The Oldest House is kind of an analogue of Stephen King's Dark Tower. Just because QB exists in another universe doesn't mean parts of the QB and Control/AW universe bleed over into one another

I think the Ordinary outage and rise in crime might be a reference to This House of Dreams, with Samantha's light switch knocking out power across her neighborhood and getting several break-ins. The timeline would be totally wrong, so I think that's meant as a joke and not a connection.

He is a shifter amd can shift between timelines which can be seen as shifting between realities such as in one timeline/reality Alex Casey being a book character, and in another timeline is a real person. I think Remedy maybe always intended for Quantum Break to be included in the wider Remedyverse and Martin Hatch is that connection. But Microsoft being microsoft wont release the IP so they may have to make a different version of him such as they did with Max Payne renaming him Alex Casey. Mr. Hatch? Mr. Door? Sam Lake thinks like this, and would write the character in a way so people can infer who it is. Door is another name for Hatch and is easy for people to grasp that Martin Hatch is Mr. Door as Dylan even says Mr. Door shifts between realities. Timelines and realities are one in the same in certain conditions. This is the QB connection in Control, but still so many people miss it.

I feel like it might say something about me that when you talked about the most logical reason for the electrician's political rival dying in a faulty wiring accident, my immediate thought was that he sabotaged the DA's wiring somehow to simultaneously eliminate a rival and advance his agenda of... something to do with electrical wiring regulation.
I'm hoping we'll hear about the "Riverport AWE" in Control 2 and how the FBC managed to contain the damages. I'd imagine they have some kind of tech or a walled-off section of Research that specializes in time anomalies. Better yet, they hire former Monarch employees into that department.
The murder committed by Weinz sounds nearly identical to the murder committed by someone you can overhear being interrogated in Max Payne 2. It's just my own head canon, but I like the idea of Max Payne and QB taking place in the same plane of reality.
I'd love a quantum break/control crossover of some sort. Quantum Break was the last Remedy game I played since I found Control first a month or so ago then from there I played Alan Wake then QB and the Alan Wake references in Control were so cool! Imagine if they could give Quantum Break the same treatment? I reckon it would be amazing!
I've always liked the idea that going back in time could create a sort of "quantum reroll" effect, where just the act of going back means that events that involve the probabilistic collapse of a quantum wave function have a chance to turn out differently. So it could be that the power outage was caused by something like an errant electron tunneling in a weird way
It sounds like the third ripples are extra dimension Effects that are tooo "random" for people to notice. But an "higher" Entity might be able to notice. Also. sometimes beings outside of Time can make your Effect your Cause.
The amount of forethought in the story, the well researched nuances of chaos theory and time travel theories, the interesting questions and even the evocative art direction for broken time shows how much care went into crafting this tale. I think that if Microsoft wasn't so obsessed with TV integration and didn't interfere with the development as much, then this could have become a classic and easily gotten a sequel. Hopefully one day Remedy is able to wrestle the IP from Microsoft.

I think you kind of missed the point about the Paul "the punch" part. Not that it makes much difference but with that name paul was definitely a part of the mob and with his political rival dying of electrocution it's hinted that Paul had a part in his demise, not that he died because of a mistake on Paul's replacements end.
The power outage and crime spike are def an awe caused by the ripple right? How is time related though hm. This would have been after the slide awe too I guess, that town can't catch a break huh. I've always thought that when people refer to the FBC in things before control they just messed up the name lol
For me, the power outage was simply caused by the fixed core (and priming the time machine) consuming a tiny bit more energy, or perhaps the oposite. Like, perhaps the broken core caused a higher energy consumption, which prevented an overflow of power to end up in Ordinary, Main, causing this outage. Now with that gone, there was nothing to "syphon off" the energy, causing the outage. Just imagine a small energy network with a light bulb and a toaster attached to the same energy source. Now imagine there being a faulty setup that would cause too much energy to end up in the light bulb, which would break it, but due to the Toaster being plugged in and it using that extra energy, the network is "stable". Unplugging it however (which in this case means stabilizing the core) causes the extra energy to now flow into the bulb, making it burn out. That's how I imagine/explain this cause.
Do you ever just do game recaps? So like, if someone doesn't have the time or money to play one of the games you research, they can still make sense of your content? I would love to see just plain full game recaps in your playlists. (Love your content regardless by the way. Big fan!)
One problem I have with this mechanic is that Quantum Break works in a single closed loop, where there is no changing events that have already happened. With that basis, how can they logically document these ripples without another unchanged/un-rippled timeline to compare it up against? How could they possibly know these changes cause events that were already seemingly destined to happen?

If these people can see the Quantum Ripples and tell what happens, then these people have to have 5th dimensional travel capability of some sort, like Hatch theoretically. Humans have developed 4th dimensional travel (time) but you would really need to have a 5th dimensional viewpoint to track some of these ripples. You would need a "control" timeline of some sort to be able to tell the action created a surge in the Dairy market for example

I like to think that the FBC was originally the FBAWE, but when our boy Alan Wake started writing Jesse Dylan Faden's story, it became the FBC and Jesse Dylan Faden became Jesse AND Dylan Faden
I think it's plausible that Alan could have renamed the FBC, but I don't think he was the one that split Jesse/Dylan. A manuscript page in American Nightmare mentions that when reality is rewritten, those who have been directly touched by powers that can shift reality are able to recognize the change. I'm pretty sure Polaris would count as one of these powers, so any revisions later than 2002, Jesse should be able to notice. I think she would notice if she traveled across the country to rescue her brother that she didn't have a year ago.
