I just found your channel and it's lovely. Your cat is so beautiful. With the new year, I am starting to declutter and gravitating closer to Minimalism each day. My "can't live without" is a selection of coffee (various flavors) and a collection of mugs. I wish I could pick just one or two, but love drinking coffee from a coordinating mug. Books are also difficult to trim down since I have a stack yet to read and favorites, I read over again each year. I think in the US, we're raised that more is better, so for many, we are more wasteful and thoughtless when it comes to fast fashion, trends and what is around us. So thankful for channels like yours that teaches and guides to rethinking how we live.
I too am an avid book reader, and it's one of the hardest things for me to declutter. But in the last year or so I've managed to gift to charity 723 books (yes, I count them), and have a few thousand left. For novels I have moved over to e-readers, but retain most of my non-fiction books - art, poetry, history, etc. I mostly search out books second-hand rather than new. One of my daily pleasures is to close the laptop I work on all day, go low tech and pick up the printed page.
I recently realized that I need some good pairs of black leggings. They go with so much and they're comfortable. Pair it with a large shirt, like you said, and its perfect! Also, having multiples of certain things just makes sense. I purposely bought extras of some items just to have at home, in my car and even my work office. To me it still feels minimal as well as practical. Great video!
Hi Benita! First of all, I must say that your videos are such a breath of fresh air! I've been following your channel for a while now, and I can say it's one of my favorites. As for the 10 things I can't live without : my prescription glasses, my laptop and my phone (I'm a freelance writer / creator), my quality winter coat (i live in Quebec, where the temperature sometimes drops to -30 or even -40 during winter), face and body moisturizer, lip balm, a notebook and a pen (i'm counting these as one thing), black coffee, a book (anything I'm reading at the moment) and a totebag!

Oh, Miss Benita! I can so identify with almost every one of your choices! Don't even get me started on the chapstick and hand lotion stashes...LOL! I do have one very important thing to add to the must have list and I think you will agree. A cat. We had to say goodbye to our 19 year old boy a year and a half ago. We tried living without a pet, consoling ourselves with the fact that we didn't have to pay vet bills or buy food and litter. Yeah, we were fooling ourselves. Our big family Christmas gift this year was to adopt another kitten. Best Christmas Ever! The joy, giggles, and love that silly little boy has brought to our family has been fantastic mental health therapy for all 3 of the humans here!

I also keep reading glasses and hand creme everywhere, as well as note paper and a pen. They are in almost every room and in my bag. Also, in most of those places, scissors. It makes life easier.
I just discovered your channel, and I love it. I've been living what I term as "cozy minimalism" for awhile now, and I find that the more I let go of the more I want to let go. I have yet to find a pair of jeans that I find comfortable, so I live in grey or black leggings (capri for warmer weather and ankle length for colder). I finally had to retire my very old, worn tee shirts, so I purchased 5 black tops and one dressier tunic-style top in grey/ black. I think that is the best idea I've adopted from minimalistic channels. I have never cared about clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. so this has made my life so easy. Minimalism has been great for me, but I still buy things when I feel that I need or want them. My rule is one in, one out, so I don't buy until I am ready to let go of an item that I no longer need/want. I'm going to go watch more of your videos!

Hi Benita! I can’t remember the video, I think it was the Spring cleaning one where you put your AirPods on a charging station. Well, I have AirPods but did not have anywhere to charge them, so I thought. I usually charge them in the morning, once my portable charger is charged. Well, wait no more, I recently bought a night light that has a charging station for my phone, well after watching jour video, this morning g, I came into my bedroom and put my AirPods on that charging station and voila, it works! I am so happy! Now I wait no longer. This is the best feeling ever! Thank you for the unspoken tip.
happy new year! personally, i love muji leggings. i’m no longer pregnant, but i’ll probably replace my maternity ones with the same style when they wear out because it’s more comfortable than an elastic band and it keeps my stomach warm in the winter. from what i see on the fabric label here in japan, organic cotton is the main component.

I would definitely lash out on a pair of varifocals for when you are doing close work like sewing and also keeping an eye on something further away, like the TV, or talking to someone. I always used to be peering over the top of my glasses to see the tv while sewing, and I finished up with neck problems. I couldn’t manage without my varifocals! Worth every penny.
It’s the little things that make life easier and add comfort. I couldn’t live w/out sunblock, daily walks, books, a camera, daily vitamins (multi, D^3, etc) and morning smoothies.
I put on my mascara this morning...for me! Full day of laundry and cleaning the house but it makes me feel good when I look good. I also keep hand lotion in different places. Blessed New Year💕
A leggings recommendation I’d make would be Encircled, a local (to me), Certified B corporation - they are environmentally friendly/conscious, and offer slightly dressy/elevated leggings.

For glasses, if you take them to an opticians they can warm up the arms and bend them so they are more curved around your ears. Also, I really understand how not all hand-creams are the same. I like the brand 'Aveeno' for hand-creams and body lotion. I'm from England but love learning languages so God dag!
Loved this video! I certainly can't do without my coffee - I am a bit of a coffee snob, so my expensive coffee maker is put to good use! Also, I can't do without my phone, morning walks, audiobooks/podcasts (generally true crime related), TH-cam & Instagram, candles and my cute blue blocker glasses. I work at my desk all day with two large monitors. The blue blockers in my glasses really saves my eyes from getting fatigued. Thank you for your lovely videos! Lovely video again. If you are very dry, buy a humidifier, it will make all the difference. Depending on the size of your place you may want one for the bedroom and one for the main area. Be sure to use distilled water otherwise you could end up with a fine white dust everywhere. You will not need to have cream everywhere or anything for your lips. I live in a very dry and very cold climate in the Winter , yesterday was -43C with the wind chill. Welcome to Calgary Canada!

Hi Benita. I recommend the catalogue for J.Jill, a store you can find in malls here in the states. I always shop online with them. Their Pima leggings are excellent and mostly cotton. I have had 4 pair for more than 10 years. I just swap them out for new ones once they fade. Try them, they run about $50 US. Happy New Year.
I'm a minimalist, but not the ultimate. I do a lot of editing and will be working on a capsule wardrobe, one for each season in MI. //Anyone who has experienced the kind of foot pain you have with PF will not consider it boring. I have insoles too, custom made. I don't know how I developed it. I discovered the pain on my first job standing for a few hours in a clothing retail store. It was more than 20 years before it was diagnosed.

I'm so impressed with your cat getting it's medicine. The last black cat we had was such a struggle to give him stuff. We had to roll him up in a towel or blanket, husband held him and I administered. Granted it was mostly eye related and really no one likes having to put anything in their eyes. I certainly don't but have to everyday. Our orange girl hasn't needed anything....yet. *knockwood* I LOVE the vintage camera design phonecase! It looks a little like the Brownie I inherited after my dad passed away. The things I can't live without changes with the time of year. But the top on the list regardless of time of year are my glasses since I have to wear them all the time, coffee, lotion for body/hands, lip balm, my tablet. In the summer, Birkenstocks. In the winter warm coat that is not wool since I am highly allergic. Thermal leggings to wear under my leggings or pants in winter. Knitting and supplies since I'm a knitter. Just no wool or alpaca! Oh, a cat is pretty essential as well. 😊 The fan is really cool looking! Pun not intended. 😆

I am from Canada. C’est Moi makes leggings and do have some that have bamboo and cotton. They have their own website. They say “Made in India” on the old pair I have. I like the ones that have the 4” waistband as you don’t feel the waistband at all. They have ONE leg seam on the outside of the leg and no leg seam on the inside. I am 5’7” and they are long enough for me with a bit too spare.
10 Items I can't live without: my Lipbalm from Burts and Bees, my Muji aroma diffuser + aroma oils to help me sleep, my hand lotion, my cellphone, my watch (I feel naked without it!), a pen or a pencil + notepad because Ilike to write my thoughts a lot, a book, Spotify + bluetooth speaker :-)

I love how many pairs of glasses you have, Benita! I wish I had so many multiple pairs because I really can't see without them. As mine are a complex prescription (about €900 a pair and likely to be more after January 2022) I can only afford one pair at a time!

My 13 item wardrobe containing only dresses (I add a sweater and/or leggings to keep warm during our 3 or 4 days of winter here in Florida!) 4. My Contigo coffee mug 5. Hair elastics/clips/headbands 6. Hand creme 7. My waterbed 8. My Far Infrared Sauna 9. The bidet sprayer on my toilet 10. “The Maid” my robotic vacuum. Of course, I’m not willing to do without my Mr. (he’s the chef!) or Mrs. Snuggles the tuxedo Queen of the house either.

I do my best to be minimal and I have a list of items that I will never ever buy again including things like pens, containers, cutlery, mugs, artwork, picture frames, cookbooks, "good" dishes and silverware and lots more. One thing that I noticed in your video was you regularly take coffee into your bathroom. There is lots of bacteria lurking in toilet areas so not a good idea in my opinion. Chapsticks actually cause dry lips, especially if they contain glycerin or other humectants. It's something many get "addicted" to, but in fact it's much better without anything. (maybe not the first few days). Love your videos!
Hello, Benita, I enjoy watching your videos! :) As for very dry hands, I used to have the same problem and I can recommend starting using cleansing oil from the pharmacy instead of regular soap. This was a recommendation of the dermatologist and helped me a lot. All the best and Happy New Year!

I just discovered your channel, and I love it. I've been living what I term as "cozy minimalism" for awhile now, and I find that the more I let go of the more I want to let go. I have yet to find a pair of jeans that I find comfortable, so I live in grey or black leggings (capri for warmer weather and ankle length for colder). I finally had to retire my very old, worn tee shirts, so I purchased 5 black tops and one dressier tunic-style top in grey/ black. I think that is the best idea I've adopted from minimalistic channels. I have never cared about clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. so this has made my life so easy. Minimalism has been great for me, but I still buy things when I feel that I need or want them. My rule is one in, one out, so I don't buy until I am ready to let go of an item that I no longer need/want. I'm going to go watch more of your videos!

Hi Benita! I can’t remember the video, I think it was the Spring cleaning one where you put your AirPods on a charging station. Well, I have AirPods but did not have anywhere to charge them, so I thought. I usually charge them in the morning, once my portable charger is charged. Well, wait no more, I recently bought a night light that has a charging station for my phone, well after watching jour video, this morning g, I came into my bedroom and put my AirPods on that charging station and voila, it works! I am so happy! Now I wait no longer.

happy new year! personally, i love muji leggings. i’m no longer pregnant, but i’ll probably replace my maternity ones with the same style when they wear out because it’s more comfortable than an elastic band and it keeps my stomach warm in the winter. from what i see on the fabric label here in japan, organic cotton is the main component.
This video answered my burning, yet trivial question, as to what a minimalist would do with her Silver TH-cam Creator Award. Nice to see it on the shelf! Here’s hoping it is replaced with a gold one soon!

I would definitely lash out on a pair of varifocals for when you are doing close work like sewing and also keeping an eye on something further away, like the TV, or talking to someone. I always used to be peering over the top of my glasses to see the tv while sewing, and I finished up with neck problems. I couldn’t manage without my varifocals! Worth every penny.

It’s the little things that make life easier and add comfort. I couldn’t live w/out sunblock, daily walks, books, a camera, daily vitamins (multi, D^3, etc) and morning smoothies.
I put on my mascara this morning...for me! Full day of laundry and cleaning the house but it makes me feel good when I look good. I also keep hand lotion in different places. Blessed New Year💕

For glasses, if you take them to an opticians they can warm up the arms and bend them so they are more curved around your ears. Also, I really understand how not all hand-creams are the same. I like the brand 'Aveeno' for hand-creams and body lotion. I'm from England but love learning languages so God dag!

Loved this video! I certainly can't do without my coffee - I am a bit of a coffee snob, so my expensive coffee maker is put to good use! Also, I can't do without my phone, morning walks, audiobooks/podcasts (generally true crime related), TH-cam & Instagram, candles and my cute blue blocker glasses. I work at my desk all day with two large monitors. The blue blockers in my glasses really saves my eyes from getting fatigued. Thank you for your lovely videos! You inspire me to further cull and only keep the things around me that I truly love and need/use. I hope 2022 sees you happy and well!
Lovely video again. If you are very dry, buy a humidifier, it will make all the difference. Depending on the size of your place you may want one for the bedroom and one for the main area. Be sure to use distilled water otherwise you could end up with a fine white dust everywhere. You will not need to have cream everywhere or anything for your lips. I live in a very dry and very cold climate in the Winter , yesterday was -43C with the wind chill. Welcome to Calgary Canada!

Hi Benita. I recommend the catalogue for J.Jill, a store you can find in malls here in the states. I always shop online with them. Their Pima leggings are excellent and mostly cotton. I have had 4 pair for more than 10 years. I just swap them out for new ones once they fade. Try them, they run about $50 US.

I'm a minimalist, but not the ultimate. I do a lot of editing and will be working on a capsule wardrobe, one for each season in MI. //Anyone who has experienced the kind of foot pain you have with PF will not consider it boring. I have insoles too, custom made. I don't know how I developed it. I discovered the pain on my first job standing for a few hours in a clothing retail store. It was more than 20 years before it was diagnosed.

I'm so impressed with your cat getting it's medicine. The last black cat we had was such a struggle to give him stuff. We had to roll him up in a towel or blanket, husband held him and I administered. Granted it was mostly eye related and really no one likes having to put anything in their eyes. I certainly don't but have to everyday. Our orange girl hasn't needed anything....yet. *knockwood* I LOVE the vintage camera design phonecase! It looks a little like the Brownie I inherited after my dad passed away.
The things I can't live without changes with the time of year. But the top on the list regardless of time of year are my glasses since I have to wear them all the time, coffee, lotion for body/hands, lip balm, my tablet. In the summer, Birkenstocks. In the winter warm coat that is not wool since I am highly allergic. Thermal leggings to wear under my leggings or pants in winter. Knitting and supplies since I'm a knitter. Just no wool or alpaca! Oh, a cat is pretty essential as well. 😊

Luckily for us they nailed the flavor on his meds so it's like a twice daily snack almost!🙌🏻

I am from Canada. C’est Moi makes leggings and do have some that have bamboo and cotton. They have their own website. They say “Made in India” on the old pair I have. I like the ones that have the 4” waistband as you don’t feel the waistband at all. They have ONE leg seam on the outside of the leg and no leg seam on the inside. I am 5’7” and they are long enough for me with a bit too spare.

I love how many pairs of glasses you have, Benita! I wish I had so many multiple pairs because I really can't see without them. As mine are a complex prescription (about €900 a pair and likely to be more after January 2022) I can only afford one pair at a time!

First time viewer. Enjoyed this video. I do my best to be minimal and I have a list of items that I will never ever buy again including things like pens, containers, cutlery, mugs, artwork, picture frames, cookbooks, "good" dishes and silverware and lots more. One thing that I noticed in your video was you regularly take coffee into your bathroom. There is lots of bacteria lurking in toilet areas so not a good idea in my opinion. I look forward to seeing your other videos.

Chapsticks actually cause dry lips, especially if they contain glycerin or other humectants. It's something many get "addicted" to, but in fact it's much better without anything. (maybe not the first few days). Love your videos!

Hello, Benita, I enjoy watching your videos! :) As for very dry hands, I used to have the same problem and I can recommend starting using cleansing oil from the pharmacy instead of regular soap. This was a recommendation of the dermatologist and helped me a lot. All the best and Happy New Year!

Another great video! I love the flock of glasses. I get teased for my 4 different kinds of Earl Grey tea (my favorite... but each version has a different flavor nuance that I appreciate). This is moving weekend! The house I designed channeling my inner Benita is being turned over to my daughter and son in law.
