the only reason kyurem is lower is thx to steel being super effective, and zacian being like a gatekeeper, you have to be able to deal or survive it, or you are bad
@@y.kennard3381 well, eternatus movepool is just too bad. the only support it has is screen, while its offensive movepool is quit limited and it has a bad defensive typing. Lunala at least can set trick room has support moves, where the same argument matters, you dont want your restricted to be support. And it has moves like moongeist beam, expanding force, dazzgling gleam, heat wave, and even icy wind. all in all is lunala better cuz it has a better movepool and a good ability to work with
I am a big Mewtwo fan, and I’ll start off by saying that yea, it’s not the best restricted by a long shot. But it does get good coverage, and I like using it.
I'm excited for Calyrex-Ice in a dual restricted format. Every team I build around Calyrex-Ice I feel like I'm forced into relying on trick room far too much, whereas in a dual restricted format you could run Calyrex-Ice as your second restricted as a trick room mode
Devil's advocate: Mewtwo has a niche because he does not have the x4 weakness to ghost and dark that Calyrex does. I don't believe that justifies him but it is certainly worth considering.
The problem with Kyogre, is that it's so 1 dimensional right now. It's easily beaten, if you prepare for it, which is easy to do because almost all the Ogre teams are the same.
Groudon being A tier sounds about right, been using him so far and after many adjustments to my team, he definitely is a high maintenance mon and have to be careful when using him but, if you manage through that, he’s a giant threat that can handle through teams with its brute force. Only thing that’s really annoying is some of the losses you’ll have with him is just because blades/rock slide missed.
The only way they could “remove” intimidate would be to make a regional dex that has no intimidators. This would be difficult because there are 18 families of pokemon with the ability with many different types. (A lot being in Gen 1 as well and you know how much GF doesn’t like to give those mons up lol)
@@Majoraspersona hidden power is a move so not the same thing as an ability, but they removed it partly because of Dynamax and also because it didn’t make sense to let any mon have any type of move for a true competitive game based on type interactions and movepools. Intimidate is obviously a great ability, but we’d also see nothing but physical monsters dominate the Metagamd without a way to combat them easily. Physical attackers are still strong even with burn and intimidate, so I don’t want to imagine what it would be like without one of them.
@@Majoraspersona Removing a move is not the same as removing an ability as widespread as Intimidate. Some have it as their only non-hidden ability. Abilities are more intrinsic than any one move.

Around 5:25 you mentioned Venusaur having access to Grass, Ground and Fire. For the life of me I cannot remember Venusaur learning a single Fire type attack.
Venusaur is used on sun teams due to its hidden ability chlorophyll, it also has access to weather all which changes it's type to the weather. Ergo it becomes a fire type move and functions as one for it's max move equivalent.
The reason to run Mewtwo over CS is because he doesn't have two 4x weaknesses. Dynamax CS dies in one hit to Sucker Punch. Mewtwo also gets Hurricane for whatever reason.
1125 base stat total of i remember correct. that's like 400 points over second place. although its stats are more tanky than offensive, but it's still obviously got some strong offensive stats.
That’s like saying you can win a tournament with a Glaceon team, or ladder to #1 with Glaceon. It can be done, but it will be so prolonged that you might as well not bother.
Here is some quick info on Eternatus cuz it seems to be forgotten: HP: 140 ATK: 85 DEF: 95 SP. ATK: 145 SP. DEF: 95 SPEED: 130 Note-worthy moves: Protect, Dynamax Cannon, Meteor Beam, Flamethrower, Sludge Bomb, Flash Cannon, Shadow Ball, Recover, Cosmic Power, Light Screen, Reflect, Mystical Fire, Agility, Venom Drench. Solid moveset, solid stat spread, I would say it’s roughly high C or low B. Could be run as: Power-Herb Meteor Beam, Fast Screen setter, Weakness policy user, or life orb attacker.
Eternatus is insane with the right set 1: no one prepares for it 2: has max ooze and wyrmwind stab (And airstream if you are crazy enough to run fly but i wouldnt personally 3: has meteor beam paired with power herb for series 10 which can give it a free kill on mons like incineroar ice horse and any flying types weak to rock 4: dynamax cannon is probably the best dragon type move besides some crazy stuff like dragon energy 5: can be paired with tailwind and screens because of its average/good speed and bulk depending on evs
Great vid. The kyurem forms have base 170 atk/spA (depending on which form), decent speed and pretty good bulk. They also get access to max airstream due to dual wingbeat. The easiest way to get around the zacian weakness is with tailwind + max flare (white form only) or screens. Also, kyurem black’s electric moves are immune to lightning rod so it’s an amazing kyogre counter, even if the opponent has raichu

@@PansyPops absolute truth. It might also explain why cosmoem was banned. It’s worse than cosmog, getting cosmic power is a massive nerf, but banded splash and assault vest struggle is way too powerful.
Pure theorymon here: I think there's at least some potential to be mined from Giratina-O. It beats a lot of other restricted mons, particularly the ones Wolfey's ranked highly - in the S - B tiers: it loses to Zacian unless Zacian has been chipped then it wins, loses to Yveltal, Dialga, Calyrex-Ice, Xerneas, and Palkia comes down to damage rolls. But it kinda beats everything else. Poltergeist is great for it, it gets will-o-wisp, draco meteor is still good, its powerful boosted shadow sneak would be mandatory and it also gets icy wind and bulldoze. It synergises well with bulldoze on its partner as it has levitate and is slow enough to benefit from trick room against other big threats, so a lot of speed control options. It might not be perfect in practice (losing to Incineroar is baaad) but it might not be terrible.
I am consitently able to beat Kyogre teams, but I always struggle against Groudon to the point where I don't even remember I have ever won against it. Solgaleo is amazing and Ice Rider under Trick Room is just a beast.
Calyrex stole so much from Mewtwo man. On top of both higher speed and special attack and a secondary ghost typing, it even upgraded over Mewtwo's ability.
Hey Wolfe I have an idea for a tier list that can be a fun idea but depends on how you see it. How about ranking how viable is Ash/Satoshi’s main Pokémon team from every region. Like if someone were to use any of those Pokémon team, give them items, change their moveset, abilities, but keeping the Pokémon at the evolutionary state that they ended up in by the end of the region like how Torracat evolved into Incineroat by the end of the alola region it’ll count as Incineroar as his main team but others like quilava who evolved in the sinnoh league but was a cyndaquil during all of johto so it count as a cyndaquil. It is unlikely to make a tier list of this but it’s an idea i think would be interesting or fun to make.
I use physical Xerneas in my games because no one really expects it, and run a bulkier spread with weakness policy, though it does take some set up to work
I am surprised Eternaus is that bad in Doubles. It is literally the 3rd best mon in the entire game for singles. It plays defense very well with recover pressure and that poison typing while it can be pretty great offensively with perfect coverage in stabs + Flamethrower. It has great singles moves like Tspikes and Dragon tail too. Meteor beam Power herb is also sometimes used to destroy the omnipresent Ho-oh and Yveltal. I mean I understand that doubles and singles are different but having such a huge difference in viability for a non hazard game mon is still surprising for me.
Wouldn’t call it the third best mon in the entire singles because not counting calyrrx s and zacian c there are many other good mons like necrozma d and yveltal, but it’s definitely top 20
Pre gen 8 I would have agreed with you about Zekrom but now it gets Dragon Dance via TR. I am not saying it's the best Uber ever but it did Significantly improve just with that one move.

nah, it has its dynamax cannon, but like, in a format where fairy/ground/psychic is very present, its really hard to make a use out of eternatus. like what are you gonna run on this thing? it doenst have any means to increase its power output while having an ok-ish typing and bad doubles moves. like in singles its a good toxic stall mon with recover and pressure.
but in doubles it has to fear earthquake, bulldoze, drill run, expanding force, the calyrex horses, zacian, groudon, and even specs spout, a resisted move, will almost ohko. its just too bad.
the fact that it cant dynamax, just like zacian and zamazenta, makes it even worse, as it doenst have access to max oose or fast max flare ect, which would be nice for weather control and boosting offenses
the only reason kyurem is lower is thx to steel being super effective, and zacian being like a gatekeeper, you have to be able to deal or survive it, or you are bad
I feel like it should be higher. Definitely better than Lunala for instance...
@@y.kennard3381 well, eternatus movepool is just too bad. the only support it has is screen, while its offensive movepool is quit limited and it has a bad defensive typing. Lunala has great support moves, while shadow shield is a nice ability with a wider offensive movepool. all in all is eternatus a pokemon that could be 2 things, a life orb sweeper with 145spa, where it gets outclassed by calyrex shadow and ndw and many more. even rayquaza has more spa than it.. the other set would be light clay dual set, and lets be real, you have 1 legi on your team, do you want it to be a fast screen setter? just use things like regieleki or dragapult. Lunala at least can set trick room has support moves, where the same argument matters, you dont want your restricted to be support. And it has moves like moongeist beam, expanding force, dazzgling gleam, heat wave, and even icy wind. all in all is lunala better cuz it has a better movepool and a good ability to work with
@@robinsimon4176 yah when i frist saw sacian typing i thought to my slef how it going destory xenus i was right one shots it
Kyogre actually can be one shot by Zacian but its usually a 2 shot. People always invest in hp and defense
I am a big Mewtwo fan, and I’ll start off by saying that yea, it’s not the best restricted by a long shot. But it does get good coverage, and I like using it.
The key with Mewtwo, as it always has been, is that it has many different uses. Defensive Mewtwo can stall out everything except maybe Zacian
I've yet to lose using mewtwo it literally deletes it's enemies 😂
When Wolf calls Oblivion Wing a Dark type move 👀
Mewtwo gets airstream, and it’s a decent calyrex ghost counter when paired with a wide guard user or when under tailwind/at plus 1 speed.
That would take a while to set up though wouldn’t it and could be risky right? Idk I’m not a professional
@@S33_. not really, u just use a tw prankster user like whims or torn, and mienshau is a good partner for m2, which gets wide guard.
I'm gonna say that Lugia is actually really good. I'm currently 13-1 with it, it's just such a great weakness policy mon
I remember using Lugia......you're right and it can deal out big damage with a variety of special attacks.
Wolfey : wins world's with rayquaza
Also Wolfey : rayquaza d tier
True
that was mega tho
Yeah the mega. He says it at least twice
This was a joke comment, and can't he just choose to mega it since he hasn't put mega rayquaza on there so it's the same pokemon
real ones from the stream know that his stream crashed like 7 times so he just gave up and did this on his next stream
Yeah I was there
Wideo man ranks all restricted Pokemans today, live. News at 11
I'm excited for Calyrex-Ice in a dual restricted format.
What Kyogre is one dimensional that never has been the case damn
is one dimensional but is scary as fuck, you can counter the counter of him pretty easy
Last time I was this Early, weather was permanent
Gen5PogChamp
Offf 10 years man
Groudon being A tier sounds about right, been using him so far and after many adjustments to my team, he definitely is a high maintenance mon and have to be careful when using him but, if you manage through that, he’s a giant threat that can handle through teams with its brute force. Only thing that’s really annoying is some of the losses you’ll have with him is just because blades/rock slide missed.
I wonder when they're going to remove Intimidate (or make a special attack equivalent lol)
The only way they could “remove” intimidate would be to make a regional dex that has no intimidators. This would be difficult because there are 18 families of pokemon with the ability with many different types. (A lot being in Gen 1 as well and you know how much GF doesn’t like to give those mons up lol)
I just want a special equivalent.
@@ronnycrawf2441 They could absolutely remove Intimidate or replace it. They got rid of Hidden Power.
@@Majoraspersona
Removing a move is not the same as removing an ability as widespread as Intimidate. Some have it as their only non-hidden ability. Abilities are more intrinsic than any one move.
Big brained means access to pollen puff.. which begs the Question: Wolfe, can you Pollen Puff?
"I think I can talk about both horses _as one_ " *forced laugh*
Without the laugh I would not have noticed the pun... Man am I tired..
I came here straight from the older every legendary tierlist and I find it very funny that Wolfey still doesn't know what Eternatus is 🤣
Lmao that bit at the end got me; "Nebby (Bag forme), Cosmoem, *Feebas* , big head deer guy"
Shame to see Rayquaza so low, growing up on Gen 3 Rayquaza has always been my favorite design in terms of Pokemon
Well he's not as bad as Wolfey's making him out to be, it's just that given how prevalent ice moves are you know how much of a give and take it is to use him. Unbelievable offense, yes, but open weaknesses you'd have to play around or preemptively stop
Wolfe my man, I liked the video. My boi kyogre is doing good this format, but anyways i liked how you explained every mon that you listed very good. I also like how you described some strategies for certain mons. Good Video your doing good :D. Keep up the good videos and keep up the good content. :D
Everybody thinks mewtwo is bad until it 1 shots your kyogre and then you're very scared of the floating cat
With what? It doesn’t have a chance of ohkoing with 252 spatk life orb thunder against 0 HP/0 SPDEF kyogre
@@ColgatetheTogekiss with just that it is a chance actually. Does anywhere from 87 - 104%, but that's assuming that there's no priority chip or helping hand boost. Also, max lightning is a straight up ohko doing 111.4 to 132%
i was SO UPSET when Shield dog didnt get body press. Zamazenta actually gets less fighting moves than Zacian, and Zacian gets less Fairy Moves than Zamazenta. they are so.. confusing
Honestly feels like someone at GF said "what if we give them each other's needed moves so they run them together in doubles??" but had absolutely no idea how you want doubles to work lmao
You must be the the worst restricted pokemon I have ever heard of.
Feebas: But you have heard of me.
Around 5:25 you mentioned Venusaur having access to Grass, Ground and Fire. For the life of me I cannot remember Venusaur learning a single Fire type attack.
Weather ball
Venusaur is used on sun teams due to its hidden ability chlorophyll, it also has access to weather all which changes it's type to the weather. Ergo it becomes a fire type move and functions as one for it's max move equivalent.
The reason to run Mewtwo over CS is because he doesn't have two 4x weaknesses. Dynamax CS dies in one hit to Sucker Punch.
Mewtwo also gets Hurricane for whatever reason.
That’s cool and all but 150 speed is literally the fastest legendary
@@GravityIsFalling Mmm no, that would be Regieleki. Pheromosa gets honorable mentions. Pretty sure neither of them dies to Pincurchin sucker punch.
@@xCateyez
When I say legendary I mean legendary
Eleki isn’t banned so it’s not a true legendary
@@GravityIsFalling Neither is Calyrex at the moment. You seem confused. The question was if there's a reason to use Mewtwo, the answer is yes.

We are lucky that eternatus didn't get the hand forme. Have you seen its stats?
1125 base stat total of i remember correct. that's like 400 points over second place. although its stats are more tanky than offensive, but it's still obviously got some strong offensive stats.

You’re so close to 300k!
Wolfey...made his bed? Imposter identified
My bet: Groudon, Kyogre, Calyrex-Shadow, Yveltal and Zacian are the only S-Tiers
Almost
yveltal?
@@caseyleenb wat
@@caseyleenb Mostly due to max airstream with weakness policy, basically being better Galarian moltres
@@shadowflamegaming5598 according to wolfey gtres is better than yveltal
Here is some quick info on Eternatus cuz it seems to be forgotten:
HP: 140
ATK: 85
DEF: 95
SP. ATK: 145
SP. DEF: 95
SPEED: 130
Note-worthy moves: Protect, Dynamax Cannon, Meteor Beam, Flamethrower, Sludge Bomb, Flash Cannon, Shadow Ball, Recover, Cosmic Power, Light Screen, Reflect, Mystical Fire, Agility, Venom Drench.
Solid moveset, solid stat spread, I would say it’s roughly high C or low B.
Could be run as: Power-Herb Meteor Beam, Fast Screen setter, Weakness policy user, or life orb attacker.
Eternatus is insane with the right set
1: no one prepares for it
2: has max ooze and wyrmwind stab
(And airstream if you are crazy enough to run fly but i wouldnt personally
3: has meteor beam paired with power herb for series 10 which can give it a free kill on mons like incineroar ice horse and any flying types weak to rock
4: dynamax cannon is probably the best dragon type move besides some crazy stuff like dragon energy
5: can be paired with tailwind and screens because of its average/good speed and bulk depending on evs
I think I might try to build a team around weakness policy Reshiram. It has an amazing typing, and I personally think it’s slept on a little.
Giratina is S tier in my heart
What if there was a special attack version of Intimidate?
No
We do actually need it because it's such a huge skew to nerfing physical teams
Eternatus has been using cosmic power + recover sets to become a bulky wall and can be pretty good when built around right
Bruh who’s pulling that in VGC
@@geenoix2357 I only ever see it at 1700+ on showdown, haven't seen it on cart nor low ladder. But there should be some teams on babiri.net if you look for it
Cosmog is extremely busted idk why the even considered making such an insanely overpowered mon
It’s so good it got banned. I mean, there’s a reason nobody uses it.
@@vaporeon344 maybe the reason for its ban is, I don’t know, maybe it’s incredibly illegal in VGC? Maybe they banned it, like you think, because it’s so good it just steamrolls? I mean, Splash+Choice Band is completely impossible to counter.
Wow so the stereotypical "Hey let me tell you everything about X game" voice does exist
welcome to wolfeyvgc
A lot of people run max speed max attack Zacian, but bulky Zacian is so clutch!
Those Lions never stood a chance
I am consitently able to beat Kyogre teams, but I always struggle against Groudon to the point where I don't even remember I have ever won against it. Solgaleo is amazing and Ice Rider under Trick Room is just a beast.
Calyrex stole so much from Mewtwo man.
On top of both higher speed and special attack and a secondary ghost typing, it even upgraded over Mewtwo's ability.
Yeah screw mewtwo
Ah yes, give a pokemon a move that almost always one hits and hits both enemies, what could possibly go wrong?
the wolfey subscription image is terrifying
patiently waiting on the next nuzlocke episode
A really cool video might be a basic “how to counter” for each of the big restricted ‘mons.
These kinda breakdowns really get me in the teambuilding mood
Kyogre is wailord’s child, of course it’s good!
Probably the other way around since kyo made all water in the pokemon world. Without him waillord wouldn't even be alive.
@@ruru8021 I agree, jokes are hard
Clayrex 1 year into the future it’s all you see in rank
Imagine meta revolving around a dead horse
Everyone keep sleeping on Giratina
I use physical Xerneas in my games because no one really expects it, and run a bulkier spread with weakness policy, though it does take some set up to work
I'd enjoy an update to this...
