McLaughlin beat her own world record, which she had set just a few weeks earlier, by 0.44 seconds in the final heat of her discipline at the 2021 Olympic Games. She crossed the finish line ahead of Dalilah Muhammad, who also fell short of the previous record. McLaughlin then secured the gold medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay together with Muhammad, Allyson Felix and Athing Mu. 🏅🏃🏽♀️
At the 2022 US Championships, she won with a time of 51.41 seconds and once again set a new world record. Around a month later, she became the first woman ever to run the 400-metre hurdles in under 51 seconds at the World Championships in Eugene. 😳🤩
