I'm from Australia and first saw them while on a trip to the UK in 1984. Loved them for their gentle humour and the way portrayed that they would not go quietly into the night. I am 72 now and this show seems to grow more relevant to me as each year passes. In fact this coming October will be my last trip to the UK and I will go up there to see the town they made famous and their resting place.
I just love these two actors they were so funny and Last of the Summer Wine was not the same without them plus Wallace and Grommet loved every episode they were in RIP guys ❤️
I'd always heard so much about their amazing friendship and that was why Peter ask to be laid to rest near his best friend. Thank you so much for taking us along to visit.
I watched an episode of last of the summer wine, just last weekend. It was the episode where they were planning compo’s funeral. I have to admit, I shed a tear. I noticed to that Peter Sellis was a bit teary eyed in places. They were clearly good friends, but I didn’t realize how close, being buried next to each other. Rest In Peace both. And thank you. Thanks to you too Paul for a great video.
It's where he catches his words and it's obvious he's stopping himself from crying. There's 4 episodes about Compos death and all of them were a trial for him. Did you see the one where his Thursday lady (Liz Frazer) is found? She says "we go back a long way" A hint at the shared history of Carry On films where they overlapped in Carry on Cabby and Regardless?
Love the theme tune, takes me back to Sunday evenings in my late 20’s knowing it meant the weekend was over and it’s work in the morning. Lovely that they lie next to each other in their final resting places.
as a boy i watch last summer wine without fail sadly most the old cast of actors have passed on shame really not same without them all 2 great actors side by side in life now at rest together bill / peter R.I.P.
Very moving video I have watched last of the summer wine repeats over and over again and they always make me laugh. Bill and Peter we're brilliant as compo and clegg such talent that we shall never see again They maybe gone but never ever forgotten ❤
Two all-round wonderful actors and genuinely nice men. It's lovely that since they were close colleagues, Peter decided that he would be placed next to his best mate. God rest their souls Thank you Paul ❤ 😊
Two great comic actors who's comedic timing was impeccable. Dearly missed but never to be forgotten. Thank you again Paul for another great memorial and as always with great respect..
Have fond memories of this show. I loved all the characters. My aunt and uncle visited the filming locations several times. My uncle even had the theme tune played at his funeral. Thank you Bill and Peter for all the laughs, bless you both.
I remember watching a documentary a few years back about Bill and Peter. Bill used to say to Peter during their breaks filming summer wine that he wants to be buried in that church yard. He said it was so peaceful and such a beautiful place, they were such close friends that Peter requested that he be beside Bill. Two great characters in summer wine along with Brian Wilde, the episodes starring them three were definitely the best.
I think any show that has several changes in cast over the years will always find a definitive lineup. Compo, Clegg, and Foggy were Last of The Summer Wine’s.
I loved Last of the Summer Wine. I grew up watching it. I'm 57 now and never got bored of watching it. So many things to laugh at many a time of wit and comedy . Thanks for showing us their resting place. RIP guys thanks for the memories.
It's 23 May 3024 I was lucky to find "Last Of the Summer Wine" about over 5 years ago on PBS. WHAT A SIMPLE WONDERFUL show. I liked everything about it. The laughter I get watching makes me feel so good. I try to enjoy life everyday, like Compo, Cleg and Foggy. May they Rest in Peace!
Thank you for a wonderful tribute to two seriously good and funny actors. I was at their graves for the first time recently. I had been looking at the LOTSW museum, the cafe and other sites with my wife, huge fan, so thank you.
What a beautiful tranquil place to be laid to rest two good friends next to each other. A moving tribute beautifully told and lovely restful music in the background. Respect.
What lovely graves and tributes . My grandfather knew Peter Sallis very nice man . I will always remember him for bringing Ratty to life in wind in the willows . He did a very gory Hammer Dracula too . RIP ☺️
So many people grew up watching Last of the Summer Wine. It was a staple of UK television for over 30 years. Even when I was at university, I would still watch it every Sunday! Great video, and it's really nice to know that such great friends are buried next to each other.
Brilliant tribute to those two legends, i was born in 1970 and they both entertained me for most of my life. They still entertain my children, with clean humour and a good story.
They became such good friends that when Bill passed, Peter insisted he be buried next to him when his time came. My dad loved the show so much we played the theme at his funeral on 27 Dec 2021, shed a tear every time I hear it.
Absolutely a privilege to watch all of these and again without doubt , wonderful tribute to these 2 fabulous actors … Love the church also so stunning the stain glass .. Thanks always Paul for a truly respectful vlog , much love as always 🥰x

R.I.P BILL AND PETER THE LAUGHTER STILL ECHOS ON!!!
Peter Sallis headstone is a recent addition to the grave, initially it was a wooden cross with his famous flat cap hung on it.. both me and my wife have visited the graves on a number of occasions and its difficult not to shed a tear every time we visit. Amazing people who lay side by side forever..I have a picture of Peters cap hung on the cross but sadly dont know how to upload it Paul...all your videos are done with respect keep it up...thank you for this one....RIP both...

Dave from Hampshire.

wow what a stunning location l am very fond of last of summer wine the belly laughs they gave us over the years and still do some of the stunts compo did left me in stitches and clegg was always shy it seemed to me both excellent actors peters voice on wallace and gromit was truly fantastic.
Great short video, thank you for sharing. I watch at least one episode a week as this was harmless, non-offensive comedy that all the family could watch. I am going to have my own pilgrimage to the graves in 2024 during a trip back to the UK.
