Kathy Staff (born Minnie Higginbottom; 12 July 1928 - 13 December 2008) was an English actress known for her work on British television. She is best known for her portrayal of Nora Batty in Last of the Summer Wine, the longest running sitcom in the world.

Every actor/actress who played in Last of The Summer Wine was a genuine time served performer who used their hard earned years of experience learning their trade in the music halls and in minor local parts, they did not have to rely on foul mouthed language or rude insults to be noticed, their acting spoke volumes and planted in everyone's memory how great British actors/actresses were, from the beginning to the end of every show each line and morsel was a treat to listen to and watch, all will be sadly missed, thank goodness for repeats to remind us all that has been lost!

I was seeing a friend who lived in Oxspring and he took me to where they were filming Last of the Summer wine I saw Kathy Staff and she smiled at me. I now live in NZ and am 70 now.
Loved this lady in last of summer wine. Her and Compo really made me laugh with his declaration of love for her. Her passion killer for him was definitely her stockings lol

really great video,when i was a kid back in 1984 my teacher asked all the girls in my class to pick a female hero to write a story about ,someone that was a good role model ,My story was about Nora Batty ,other girls picked pop singers ,But to me as a little seven year old kid Nora was my hero ,Loved Kathy Staff

At the beginning of August 1997 we were holidaying near Holmfirth. One day we watched a rehearsal and recording of a scene from "Last Of The Summer Wine." My husband said he would love to see Norah Batty. To his joy, out she came to give Compo and Clegg a tongue lashing. He was thrilled to have seen an actress who had made him laugh so much. A few days later my husband died suddenly, but it was a help, to remember how happy he was to watch Kathy Staff rehearsing that scene.

Good evening Paul,I visited my Dad when this popped up and he was thrilled to bits on this one and Bill Owen,Last of the summer wine was must watched TV in 1985 in our house in Birmingham I remember a particular scene where Nora batty was getting changed in an upstairs window and Compo happened to be traveling past on a double decker bus when it was happening I'll never forget all the men in the family in stitches when it happened again thanks Paul I hope you had a good Christmas and I'll cya in the new year Iam off to Byron bay and their will be plenty of British Backpackers their which is a good thing for my aunty hostel where I help out over the period. RIP Nora batty (Kathy Staff).

I just watched an episode of open all hours with her in it. And then saw this video had been uploaded. I’d also visited the grave of Duncan Edwards over the Christmas period, and it’s like a big shrine to him. People have left a lot of Manchester United memorabilia there. It maybe worth checking out Paul.

Awww she was a brilliant and very funny actress in fact so unique there would never be anyone able to play her character the way she did if there was ever a remake of Last of the summer wine. When you was talking about her character at the side of her grave and brought back happy memories of her and made you so happy I bet she would had looked from up above and be honoured you paying your visit and remembering her. It brings sadness to me that she died on my birthday, R.I.P Kathy and thank you for the laughs you gave us all.

She was a true legend in last of the summer wine but she never forgot her roots from Dukinfield you would always she her going to St Marks church when ever she was in the area and nothing was to much trouble to talk and help the area . Is always funny when people try and saying Dukinfield from out of the area best way is like saying Duk in field great video as always mate keep it up
