We are thrilled to share with you the next chapter of HLH and welcome our new vocalist Josh Raven. We crossed paths with Josh at a pivotal point of our soul searching and he has inserted such a positive shift within us. We took a deep dive down the road that got us here, and imagined what that would look and sound like with this fresh energy and enthusiasm. We have rediscovered a deep love for creating and a positive environment to share ideas. We took a step back and returned to the fundamentals of why we started this in the first place, the music. This next chapter will explore sounds and ideas that are inspiring and motivating to us as a collective, and we look forward to sharing this process with you all.

Heaven is about the weight of living in our society highlighting the confusion and polarization of our generation through religion, culture and politics. More than ever it seems harder for people to just simply co exist and there’s a heaviness in every community about who or what idea to trust.
I’ve been feeling this confusion within myself a lot these past couple of years, and the key lyric “Heavens no place for us” is highlighting this challenge, while pointing out how we have forgotten to focus on love and acceptance instead feeding manipulation, pain and corruption.
LYRICS:
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Listen to the voice in my head
I walk with the dead
The shadows they just keep coming
Death is hanging on every step
I keep losing grip
The shadows they just keep coming
There’s no one to save us, nobody made us
We’re victims of our own design
There’s no one to save us, there’s nothing here
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Blood on our finger tips
Mandness is poisonous
Angel or a devil tell me which ones a heretic
Doomed Doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Do you feel the panic?
Running to the emptiness
It gets you so high
Do you love the power
I see it burning in your eyes
Is it true, is it lies?
There’s no one to save us, nobody made us
We’re victims to our own design
There’s no one to save us, there’s nothing here
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Doomed, doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
Blood on our finger tips
Mandness is poisonous
Angel or a devil tell me which ones a heretic
Doomed Doomed
Heavens no place, heavens no place for us
I think what brought me to HLH in the first place was Trenton's unique voice. That is what captivated me to this band. It's not a bad single, but not quite what I was looking for. Uniqueness, Josh, sir, welcome to the band, but please don't play it safe. This song is safe... I want to know what you can do! Show us!
If you want to see his other stuff check out the faim and his first band small town heroes
@@reisetyler I will, thank you for the suggestion! 🤘😁
I feel kinda the opposite. Vocalist is killing it while the instrumentation is half as interesting as it used to be.
@tannerteague4595 This was the first single, I just wasn't wowed by it. The other singles released, though. They have hit the spot, and I now feel Josh is a good fit to take the sails.
This songs decent im not as gutted as I thought I’d be. I don’t think it’ll ever be the same for me but I’ll still listen. The lyrical ability and uniqueness of Trenton’s voice just sat him on another level to other vocalists. This dudes got a great voice but he’s just another good singer in another good band. I really hope the album has that special something the previous ones did.
He sounds super autotuned to me. Not a fan.
@@CinemaPaula sounds saturated but I wouldnt say it’s crazy tuned
@@CinemaPaula but everyone is pitch corrected nowadays for that polished sound
@@CinemaPaulaI've seen the main singer live and can guarantee he sounds exactly the same! He's a great vocalist
This song is an absolute banger. I don't know what everyone is complaining about.
Yes, this sounds better than the old songs.
haters just gonna hate
Agreed
It’s crazy how much of a bands sound can be in the lead singer. This is certainly not a letdown. Just different. I’m super interested in hearing him play the old stuff (lame thought, I know)
I had the same thought actually
It's exactly why I don't consider the new Three Days Grace, Three Days Grace. They're just a different band after Adam left. Losing a musician is one thing, losing a lead singer is losing the bands identity. Sad but true.
@Drexxyl I said the same thing about TDG. It's crazy how much Saint Asonia sounds like old TDG and it's because of Adam plus the sound they kept with him.
@@popeyedave8253 Saint Asonia's first album is ok to me, the second one is FIRE though, absolutely love it.
@@Drexxyl Black Sabbath, King Crimson and AC/DC had multiple lead singers
Northlane evolved into a new band when they changed vocalists - and it was both sad to see what was lost, but amazing to see what was gained.
Best of luck guys, keen to watch you evolve!
Same with Bury Tomorrow
Northlane surely did evolve with a new singer. Into absolute garbage.
What did they gain?
❤Angie Sam 🇱🇷
True but north lane evolved to something completely unique. This sounds like every other hard rock song ever made. Nothing unique about it musically or lyrically. I really hope they find their sound soon and try something new. Even if it’s not good I’d respect the initiative…
it's a decent song, but it sounds like every other in the alternative rock scene
yup
I love hearing Josh in this setting. His voice suits this type of music so well!
So long the poetry in the lyrics Trent delivered. 😔
My thoughts exactly. These lyrics are so insanely generic...
Trenton's poetic lyrics have been long gone since Headrush LOL if he were still here, that wouldnt suddenly change
Bands and a decline in lyricism has always been a bother to me. Instantly noticed it with HLH after Unimagine/Reimagine. I feel like a lot of Rise Record bands went through this back in the day. Don’t know if it was the label that did that or if bands just weren’t able to keep up with the standards they set for quality. Either way, I called it the Rise Effect. Unimagine has been on repeat for me and I don’t know if HLH can ever get back to that. Sure, bands evolve and change, but I don’t quite know yet if HLH’s change is a change for the better. I’ll follow their progress and check in on them as new material comes out, but we’ll see what happens.
Well, we’ve certainly got something on our hands. Gotta say, mixed feelings about the new vocalist, none being outright negative. I do find the style reminding me of some vocalists for American bands. Very interesting, but I might be alone on that one.
Beyond that, it’s good to see this band moving forward. Wasn’t sure I’d see anything from this band ever again.
I think the new vocalist has talent, but the song lyrics just dont hit.
What is the message of this song truly? All i get from it is that its a generic "our souls cant be saved", but why? You just feel that way? The lyrics of older songs held so much power and storytelling, this song just feels like it was written by the same writers who write generic pop party songs, but with an emo/alt flair to it. It feels weak.
I do think the instrumentals sound good, it definitely has some newer vibes to it but still feels like HLH, which i enjoyed. Without the meaningful lyrics though, it just doesnt hit the same, it feels like a shell of what made me enjoy HLH and why ive listened to your albums hundreds of times.
The music video didnt seem too special either, but most music videos dont feel great these days so its not a huge deal.
Idk, I want to follow you guys on this journey, but the lyrics were always what dragged me in, with the sound elevating the storytelling and emphasizing the meaning in ways it couldnt be with spoken word alone. This song feels like it wants to do that, but the lyrics have nothing of value to say that every other rock band hasnt said before. Ill give the album a chance, but i hope it actually has something to say.
I kinda feel the same, but also the opposite. I’m moreso honed in on the sound of the vocals than the lyrics. I’m of the standpoint that too many musicians these days try too hard to be “artists” and try too hard to make their music into “art” at the expense of the sound, and the expense of their creations being music, if that makes sense.
Don’t twist it, I adore the first 3 albums, Reimagine, Drift, and Hurricane, and I do believe songwriting can elevate sound by coexisting and synergizing with it, but sound comes first for me.
That being said, my sentiments are somewhat, if not mostly the same as yours, albeit for different reasons. Something’s off, and being different from before, either lyrically or sound-wise, doesn’t necessarily have to mean things can’t feel right.
I’m with you both here. Same feeling I got when Jonny Craig was out of slaves. Still great music but missing a level that really made it stand out from the rest of the bands out there. I think a lot of it is lyrics but also just the unique voice.
This is good and I’ll check out the coming music but will I still be listening in 10 years like I am the previous albums? Tune in later to find out folks 🤣 only really anon that I don’t go back to often. The others are still on repeat
Got to admit I was super apprehensive and whelmed at first, but this has grown on me A LOT over repeat listens. I'm really excited to see what else is in the works and can't wait hear more of the new guys range!
Check out his other band the faim
from the first album, to this-HLH has gotten lost in all of this. their first album did (and still does) blow me away. saw HLH several times in dallas over the years. glad to see you all trudging on, but this just isn’t HLH anymore. good luck, all.
I actually really dig their new sound. Really excited to hear more. Loving both singles and love Josh Raven’s voice (great name too). Don’t get me wrong, I loved Trenton’s voice too but sh*t happens, it’s whether you run with it or drop it and they’re definitely running with it.
Thats crazy! I heard it was "josh" and im like 'that josh????' I love all you guys and yes, this is different, but its good! I saw both HLH and The Faim in concert together and I love both of you guys!! ❤ im sorry about all that happened but I wish you guys love and luck out there in your next chapter!
Alright, good to have the lads back, let’s see what comes next. Don’t be afraid to take risks!
Josh. So fuckin proud of you man!! This is crazy!!! Enjoy this new road man this is going to be a journey of a lifetime. The new single is great, so proud of you
Was wondering how this band would go with a new front man. Glad to say this song is unreal. Best released they've done in ages. I loved the old lead singer, and Love this new guy too. Win win.
Hands like houses used to be my fav band for many many years. Im absolutely thankful to god to have you guys back in my life
Interested seeing Josh try and sing Trent’s vocals, but it’s an alright song!
Not sure I’ll ever get used to the new lead singer…, nonetheless I wish nothing but the best for them 🤘🏻
hands like 30 something and still living at parents houses. 👏
I will of course miss Trent, but I have hope Josh will prove himself, I see potential, and I'll always follow this band ❤
Awesome passion...
Not bad. The new vocalist is gonna take a while to get used to
honestly trentons voice was super unique but indeed they found someone else with such a unique voice, i so want to see him do more of the lower vocals as seen in the bridges, his voice in my opinion shines in those areas, excited to see more!
Ooh ! I like it ! Actually I love it ! Damn excited for the tour and a big welcome josh 👏
YOU GOT THE LEAD SINGER OF THE FAIM!!!?!?!? This is the best day of my life. I love the new song. Great shit!
I was wondering why his voice sounded so familiar…
FAIM = ??
@@fortodaymarkThe new vocalist's (Josh Raven) in a band called "The Faim". They released an album in 2022 called "Talk Talk", if you want to search for it.
Great band
It’s not mind blowing, but after the last few releases this vocalist seems to have brought a new life to things. Excited to see what follows
Josh is the Man!! It's so exciting for the band moving forward.... I can't wish you guys much more than world domination.... I love the new vibe and sound of the band - after seeing you guys kick the shit out of Max Watts in Melbourne last Friday night - the energy - the sound - the night was buzzing with fans being ecstatic for what is coming with the double album drop and you must love how much the live shows have been going off!! Love you guys!
WHAT? Where is Trent? What's happening? :<
It was one of the best alternative band
They kicked him out of the band in June apparently. I don't know what happened, but I do really miss him
YES 🎉
The new singer is incredible. HLH is back 💙
Check out his other band the faim
Lyric quality and ubiquity went straight out the window. Sad to see this happen to my favorite band on the planet. Sounds like every XM Octane band now.
Nice song, I like that they went back to making heavier music instead of pop crap on Anon and their last EP.
I guess Hurricane is gonna remain a standalone single then
Another awesome track and josh sounds great ❤
slap a 2 min HLH intro on this, pump the bass in the bridge, hes got the funk, let him rip. Love and RESPECT from the USA, this slaps.
This is a good song. It's a bit shocking and sad that Trenton's no longer in the band, but the new frontman sounds pretty good.
If new singer means heavy is back I’m all for it
Not the old Hands Like Houses vibe - but I guess that was the point with switching leads.
GL guys :) I like this, so ill be interested to keep following you guys to see whats up! ❤
This guy sounds like everyone else. You got rid of the guy that made you unique. Stupid move
I don’t know why many are so unhappy, great song, new vocals are cool, I’m waiting for the album, good luck to you guys
Sorry I’m going to go listen to Trent’s old songs.
Song's ok. I'm curious to see where the band goes. This music video on the other hand is prettttty bad.
I LOVE that one. Haven’t listened much since Ground Dweller but this chorus got me HOOKED.
I'm pretty happy with this ngl.
Love this BOTTOM
I was curious to see if the new music could answer whether or not the last few songs were trents idea. It seems the rest of the band wants to continue putting out heavier music.
Feel like they always wanted to be heavier from the beginning
To be honest, I wasn't really the biggest fan of the songs that HLH released after the album "Anon." So that might've been Trent trying to push the band in a direction they didn't really want to go, and that's why they kicked him out. This new song with the new vocalist sounds like a lot of their older stuff, so maybe this was a change for the better.
The songwriting isn't what it used to be 🥲I miss the old days, I don't want to be a hater but it's just so generic now (musically and lyrically) compared to older HLH stuff
Love it y’all!! Super stoked on what’s next
Oooh I love it!! HLH 2.0 starts with a banger!
Absolute unit of a song i love it, people who say this is a miss i wont understand.
The new guy's got a great voice 👌
Check out his other band the faim
WOW they got super heavy again and this new vocalist kicks ass. I'm definitely gonna miss Trent and wish he was the one on this, but this...I feel like this is the kind of Dissonants/heavy HLH people were wanting after Anon.
Heaviest material they’ve released in almost a decade.
Willing to give em a chance with this new guy
Holy shit this is so good!!!!
idk what everyone's on about, think song sounds really good to me
Awesome guys❤❤❤❤
It’s weird, I remember talking to trent at a concert about how we missed hearing songs from the first album and was told that the band didn’t like playing them cus they were too heavy. But it was also his favorite album. But now you’re taking it back? I’m confused. Is it creative differences?
We need the music we’re used to from this band. The one with heart and meaning, unfortunately, this lacked for me personally. The song isn’t terrible but it’s not HLH. For 14 years, all we’ve heard is Trent’s voice and that’s what the lead singer has to live up to. This song didn’t even remotely come close.
Hopefully, in the future we’re met with more of the HLH feel and not what ever this is. If it’s “not supposed to be the same” the band name should change. Obviously, this is just an opinion. Don’t come at me. Or do.
Literally this. They should give up their name and switch to something else.
This is your best song yet. Absolute banger. Definitely can't wait to see this live if you guys come to the UK!
This is wonderful. I've always wanted to hear Josh's agressive vocals on a heavier track (compared to The Faime). Looking forward to the new album dudes.
I'll miss Tranton but the new vocalist is great ! Love the chorus !
the new vocalist is actually not that bad, i'm diggin it..he also sounds like brendon urie at some parts
The lyrics have lost some of their poetry, but the song is decent. Good luck Josh!
dope!
Best to just change the name of the band. Completely new sound with a new singer under HLH isn’t doing it chief.
New singer is a good singer, it just isn’t Hands Like Houses anymore.
Most likely chose keeping the name to keep the fame they've already achieved under hands like houses, but that in turn comes with all the hate. Even if they don't change the name, if they keep coming out with generic music like this they'll probably just end up fading away into obscurity anyways unfortunately.
💚🔥
Catchy for sure
What arw you guys talking about, this is so good, love it
why did trent leave?
this is bad tbh :(
nothing stands out
Creative differences
He wanted to focus on family as well
@@gogolplex74 aw man :( i'm gonna miss him
Weird to think that Josh is now the lead singer of HLH the first time I ever heard of Josh was when he opened for HLH
Pleasantly surprised, based on the comments I thought this was going to be considerably bad but I actually enjoyed this more than the later EP as a whole and this cat has a great voice
one of the catchiest hook ive ever heard
Very Asking Alexandria like, interested to see what else comes from the lads. Chuck this one on the mooseys playlist eh? ;)
Reminds me more of Dayseeker
Love it
Don't look now, I'm being followed.... Act normal
I'm not sure, doesn't have the same vibe as with it did with Trent. Josh has a good voice but Trent's voice was something special.
I knew that voice sounded familiar, also love The Faim.👏
I Heart
Seeesh, let’s hope Trent starts a new band or something. Cus this ain’t it. Kinda tough to watch lads. 💀
So good lads!
Part of me hoped Zach was the new vocalist!
😁cool😁
He's sounds and looks like Brendon Urie from PATD but I dig it. Still dope.
goodness this is such a banger
2024❤🇱🇷
This is so good!!! Josh fits this sound so well, can’t wait to hear more
been watching your videos and listening music from 2003 I guess I don't know do you even exist back then. still my favorite!!! Keep it ip guys!!!! Really melodic and full of soul in the music!! ❤cheers 🙌 I went downloading your tracks
while i was a big fan of trent i'd be lying if i said i didn't enjoy this, interested to see where this goes !
✌️❤️💪⚡️
This isn't HLH anymore. The song isn't bad. But it sounds like every other alt song out there. Cookie cutter. There's nothing that stands out anymore. The lyrics are dull. The feeling is gone. Bland. No more magic. Trent brought a uniqueness to this band that cannot be replaced. Good luck with the new path...
I agree :( the same thing happened to Evans Blue and Of Mice and Men. At least we have a lot of their older stuff :)
Time to go back and listen to ground dweller 😢
Ground Dweller and Unimagine 😢
Top song! Looking forward to new experiments :)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘😤
Oh fuck that’s Josh from The Faim
OMG Joshua...einzigartig stark😊😊😊. Du bist ein eigener Gott, weil Du mir bei der schwierigsten Endwicklung aller Zeiten geholfen hast...Der Gravitationsplatte...Dem UFO-Antrieb....ich hab Dich richtig doll lieb❤❤❤
To misquote your song, I Am, "I won't feed on Faim".
I'm sorry you guy's couldn't work it out. The new guy, pretty good singer. Music does sound different though. I suppose keeping up the first two albums sound would be difficult.
😮
Go back and listen to Ground Dweller and you hear when this band had a soul. Really sad to see this band fall off a cliff
I missed the heavy stuff, like.
