Very nice shooting and video. Ive just recently come across your vids and after watching 2-3 of them I subscribed. You're in my top 5 go to for airgun info.
Nice shooting James the 100 does it again, who could doubt it lol someone would have to come up with something spectacular at a lower price than the 100 to even make me look let alone replace it. HW have once again got it right with their first PC, and its a world beater !
thanks! it's certainly a very capable rifle and i think overall it remains my favourite. i'm running the fx impact at the moment and that really is the dogs dangles, but at twice the price you'd expect it to be really! the hw is still my day to day works rifle and will never leave the collection, i don't think i could bring myself to do it. james
james I know where your coming from, I recently bought the FX streamline, a superb rifle and I really like the look of it, traditional, but it will never replace my 100 though I think the streamline will deserve its place ! phil.
ah nice, i haven't had a chance to check the streamline out yet, certainly looks the part. i was luck enough to get to see the new crown the day before its release and i think that will be my next rifle, they are doing a blue laminate and also a woodland. looks very similar to the royale however has the same mags as the impact and the barrels are also interchangeable. just waiting on conformation of the price! you'll have to let ,e know how you get on.with the streamline, always good to get users thoughts. james
Laser rangefinder , good HD + Binoculars , a tuned trigger which is set for ounces not pounds and an allen key which im always using to faff with a custom made set back trigger , range dependant , each time the rifles used the stock screws are checked , the so called 97 silencer has been moved back an inch .and half ,,the under lever catch removed theres just an half inch pin tapped from the muzzle end cap that locks into a hole drilled it the underlever release button .. it works a treat .but its noisier at the muzzle
Hi James ,I used to shoot full bore on ranges and for vermin, I gave up about 7 years ago but I am missing my shooting ,so I thought let's just go back to air rifles ,anyway to the point ,is there much difference in accurately between the HW100 and the HWk ? As its got a shorter barrel length, I will only be shooting the od rabbit or pigeon or tree rat ,and might do a bit of barn ratting Thanks Ps we used to do this with a .22lr at 200m as ppl would say they were no good at 200m
I know this is a very old video. I'm considering a hw100 is this one the full length or is it the (k) carbine. Perhaps the carbine wasn't out 4 years ago 🤷
Furthermore what gun would you recommend for pinking past 100 yards for £1000 or below?. Been thinking about HW100 FX Wildcat or the Kalibrgun Cricket.
to be honest i was asking myself that over lunch today, not the making it look easy bit, but how far could i go... the honest answer is i don't know, but there's only one way to find out... james
any rifle will do it; within reason... but don't expect to pick up a £100 rifle and just be able to hit things, it takes practice - and a lot of it! personally i'd go hw100 every time. my wildcat is great, but the HW is much better and far more reliable when it comes to shot placements . james
great shooting! liked and followed. I love the hw100 my 177 will do 10mm group at 58 yards reliably. jsb 8.4 5.52s I recently bought a sub 12 impact aswell. 22 pellet testing was a long haul, I got it tuned to higher reg pressure 75 bar, instead of 50, it is a pellet stacker now! I'm convinced this is one of the reasons the hw100 is renowned to be so accurate (higher reg pressure) better pellet engagement?? the impact is still running the same speed 560fps. Might loose a few shots but at over 600 standard, who's bothered? looking forward to more videos. jay
@@ReplicaReviews Believe me, with magnum springer its very hard to do it. Requires hell lot of practice. It recoils hard and that affect accuracy however with patience and constant training it is possible as well. Now I am able to shoot on 80 yards a bottom of a beer can, out of 5 shots I hit it at least 2 times with magnum springer. Wanna move to a 100 yards as well. BTW: very good shooting especially on windy days. Respect mate!
@@ReplicaReviews that must be a fair hold over I would think I still love this video my r10 elite loves them to but I get tighter groups with the jsb exact heavy at 10.34 grains
just make sure its against targets rather than quarry, i've already had one request to remove this video as someone has taken offence to long range plinking and is questioning the ethics... my advise though, get some targets out and have a laugh! james
no not at all - ftlb is just a measurement of power - what has produced the power is irrelevant - the amount is purely the result. does that make sense?
hi there first off fantastic shooting, secondly im wondering if you can help me resolve an issue I have with my r10mk2 I have tried 2 scopes with 3 sets of mounts. nikko sterling on low mounts hawke sidewinder on medium hawke mounts and sportsmatch dedicated bsa high mounts and I cannot on any get vertical zero and can only just get horizontal zero on Max adjustment to the right on all scopes. I have pellet on pellet with aa field but the poi is so far from where I can zero too its impossible to shoot further then 30 yards with it. could this be a barrel issue ? ps the only way I have managed zero at all with hawke mounts is using the arrestor pin to give me a bit more elevation and in that it pushes the mounts slightly toward center also so gives me slight windage allowance.but this obviously doesn't work as further then 30 yards it's way off to the left etc
also to add i have chrono the rifle it's running 11.3 ft lbs with 9fps spread across a 5 shot string . it's very consistent just seems like something isn't rite causing the issue. never had this on any of the 10 or more rifles I've owned
Hi M8 great video what's your take on the smooth twist barrel the the fx has And the lothar walther barrel that the hw100 has for accuracy are these Fx barrels better cheers Matt
in the real world they are both very similar accuracy wise. the walther barrels tend to be slightly more pellet fussy, however once you've found the right pellet they tend to fire like a laser, much like my hw does! as for the smooth twist they tend to group a wider variety of pellets better and the whole fx platform is far more efficient, its far better on air consumption and just as accurate - hence why the impact is now my main rifle of choice since we put this video together. james
Considering a humane head-shot on a Rabbit is within a quarter inch zone, a 2 inch egg isn't much of a challenge at 100 yards. A Rabbit is easily dispatched at 50 yards striking that quarter inch kill zone. I think you know where I'm going with this.
Great video! . I would like to know how do you get your ballistic coefficient for the pellets you were using since for example, JSB have not published it in their website. Regards,
I may not have shot eggs at 100yds, I haven't tried, but I have taken out feral pigeons at 80 yards with one of my .177 Ultras.....on a reflex 1x red dot. I always preferred open sights as a youth but eventually went on to scopes. I am now too disabled to use anything heavier than the tac stock Ultra with a reflex red dot but, quite frankly, I much prefer the reflex sights. The Ultra using either RWS Super Field or AA Field (slightly more power, strangely for a pellet exactly the same weight) is an absolute tack driver. I own three but the tac stock MMC single shot .177 is by far my favourite. I just cannot get on with my 10 shot .177 SE at all. I have a .22 Beech stock MMC too but I haven't used it much of late as I find that too heavy. I must admit I struggle to hold full size rifles these day but I am tempted to try a bull pup.
good shooting, for this challenge what was your zero and what sort of holdover did you have at 50 and 100 yds...! thinking of getting a hw kt, good review
thanks andy. zero wise i left it as it was , so zero of 35 yards. holdover for 50 was about a mildot - give or take a bit. it may be different for yourself as holdovers are effected by a wide variety of factors. thanks again, james
As expected, I bought a daystate177 regal hr, worked amazingly until I cleaned the barrel ,now useless , my hw 100 adjustable laminate still amazing, wether barrel cleaned or not, why did I spend a grand on the day state, ( left hand ) out of warranty , due to COVID, totally buggard and dissatisfied , and being left handed I waited over 3 months........
Its not to hard if its all you do in your spare time , a decent tuned 97 a good f1 scope , on a windless day , i dont go out killing stuff , thats the understanding with permission on the golf course i use , theres no pests digging up the greens here , but long range plinking is one of the best disaplins you will learn theres no you cant do it bull , and some of the best 177 pellets have been around for 20 years , cp lights .
A good fun vid James, I enjoyed that. Do you prefer the Sidewinder, to the Other Hawke's, say the Airmax maybe! Oh, and I'm off to buy some tees, thank you
thanks! i do yes, main reason for me sticking with the sidewinder is the turrets... the airmax turrets clamp onto a plastic internal turret and is held in place with grub screws - the idea being they are better for micro adjustments when zeroing etc. however once you bolt down onto a plastic drum it leaves a dent, so you'll have issues moving it slightly either side as the bolt will just reseat itself into the previous dent, thus achieving nothing. the glass is better, but not enough to make me want to ignore the turrets. enjoy! thanks again. james
Damn! That's a game changer. So glad I asked, definitely the Sidewinder then. Not being too concerned about the cost of this scope, the 8 x 32 do you reckon? For the HW100KT I will fit it to. Good honest reviews James, thank you.
the scope on this rifle is the 6-24x56, great scope but its a big old beast. i've also got the 6.5-20x42 & 8-25x42 on my fx rifles. again both great but a little more low profile, still take in light well and both still give good peripheral vision. best advise is work out what mag range you want to work with and have a look at the hawke website, the sidewinders are all listed out and its easy to make sense of - then go from there. turrets, build quality etc are all the same, but the objective size and mag will be optional to suite your requirements. james
Those scopes with the 56mm bell? Do they mean you need to use high mounts? Is power everything with the scopes? I am leaning towards a 8x32 Sidewinder, not necessarily for long range shooting but simply because it's only a few quid more cost wise than the 6 x 24. What do you think? Also, the sidewinder Pro has a different reticle, for a few pounds more. I do like the scopes, seem well made and a very usable range. So, the pro or not? James, you have been very patient with me, I hope I'm not being a pain? I''m really getting into this. Thank you. Just going to spend my money now.
yeh with the 56mm objective you do need high mounts, but to be honest it doesnt make much - if any difference. as for mag that really does come down to personal preference, i always go for the higher mag scopes as if i want the magnification i have it, rather than wishing i did! its nice to have but most my shooting is done on 12 mag, the 100 yard however was shot with 18 mag as the holdovers were easiest to remember - rather than because i needed it , if that makes sense. the sr pro is just a ret change... not my cup of tea which is why i've stuck to mildot style (20x1/2 to be exact) ret. again thats really just a personal preference thing. no not at all, we all have questions and all have to start somewhere, best to get all the info you need/want before sinking a decent amount of money into a scope. james
i actually had a message from a chap asking me to remove this video as it wasn't ethical and that i should make a statement about shooting quarry at those ranges... he then started sharing the video about asking for others to do the same until i removed it... sadly 1. he had not watched the video to see i had done just that & 2. couldn't grasp the idea that you can actually just have fun plinking... his loss i guess!
Speed Godz I shoot game out to 120 with the same rife and get clean kills but here in the us we don't have to worry about regulations on airguns so we can have much more power at that range to do the job correctly.
Speed Godz I shoot game out to 120 with the same rife and get clean kills but here in the us we don't have to worry about regulations on airguns so we can have much more power at that range to do the job correctly.
Nice shooting on your part....and nice friendly video........well presented! But having to live with such fine equipment limited to 12 ft/lb...............that is an absolute abomination! This equipment would never have been created if the entire market had been limited to the 12 ft/lb rule! I absolutely detest it and feel sorry for you chaps.
thanks! the 12 ft/lb limit is what it is unfortunately. HOWEVER... for those of us that go through the hassle of police checks and licensing we can have whatever power we fancy... i've got a new rifle on its way which will be completely unrestricted, so expect some even further shooting! the thing with uk gun laws is people always say they suck, but if you go through the licensing you can have most things, we have no mag capacity limits, can get suppressors easily, hell we can even own and shoot 50 cal (i have a vid of the hs50m1 if you haven't seen) , its just that there aren't many people willing to go through the "hassle". it has its shortcomings and yes we do miss out on various things like pistols etc, but it's not as horrific as the masses like people to believe. thanks again! james
Hi James, Thanks for your reply I hope you enjoy your new rifle. I've been wanting to get into high end PCPs but for me the cost is prohibitive . I do however own what I consider to be a high-end rim-fire (CZ 452 Lux 24 inch barrel in .22 LR) that is superbly accurate. I also own a springer (GAMO CFX in .177) with a modified trigger that shoots reasonably accurate up to 30 m but threatens to loosen every filling I have in my teeth each time I want to pull the trigger! The .22 LR has too much reach to be used safely in an urban or semi-urban setting and the springer is not quite up to the job! And so I keep dreaming of a magical, quiet and accurate 60 yard gun that will take small game with almost no wounding.....but present no collateral threat at extended ranges! I will get there, eventually,........some day! I enjoyed your video!
a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I prefer the shorter guns guns purely because of what I do and where I shoot. they still do full length rifles. James
not really... not in the grand scheme of things anyway. the guy I shoot with has a full length 100, on the same height mounts , etc etc etc... when you work out poi's ours are both almost identical.
ReplicaReviews just don’t use JSB exact. Just bought some and useless. Maybe they are the wrong size for my 1.77. Size 4,52. So will stick with my H&N baracuda hunter extreme
Great shooting and I respect that, however I felt that you guys are focused on your achievements. It would be really cool if you showed a little humility and a bit of coaching 😊. Great shooting all the same.
to be fair this was a test of our skill at the time so the reactions you had were because we had achieved something. i'm working on a video at the moment; just waiting for the weather to clear, that will show how to achieve this kind of thing. the issue i face is i get comments on the long range videos slamming me - for safety and "ethical" issues that i apparently raise, so to instruct people to maybe shoot beyond their abilities may just invite more hassle. as i say though - it is something i'm looking into. james
watching this vid sold me on the hw100.best by a long way!

ReplicaReviews would you recommend the hw100 or the impact, I'm UK limited to 12 ftlbs tho...
how many mildots holdover did you give for that 100 yarder?
Totally dependant on zoom amount
Good video
thanks!
Good shooting James, can you advise what pellets you were using please
thanks. i was using .177 daystate sovereign pellets, 8.44gr. james
Excellent, Well impressed. And glad you said you done shoot quary at thiis range. Some might.
i actually had a message from a chap asking me to remove this video as it wasn't ethical and that i should make a statement about shooting quarry at those ranges... he then started sharing the video about asking for others to do the same until i removed it... sadly 1. he had not watched the video to see i had done just that & 2. couldn't grasp the idea that you can actually just have fun plinking... his loss i guess!
Speed Godz I shoot game out to 120 with the same rife and get clean kills but here in the us we don't have to worry about regulations on airguns so we can have much more power at that range to do the job correctly.

Is this an fac required air rifle bud?
nope, just a normal sub 12 ft/lb rifle.
what pellets did you use for the 100 mate ?
i use daystate sovereign pellets. james
How much will that whole set up cost for the hw?
You’d need to ask your local dealer 😁
Any idea why they make the air rifles so short now?
a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I prefer the shorter guns guns purely because of what I do and where I shoot. they still do full length rifles. James
ReplicaReviews so full length still means farther distances correct?
not really... not in the grand scheme of things anyway. the guy I shoot with has a full length 100, on the same height mounts , etc etc etc... when you work out poi's ours are both almost identical.
Great shooting mate. What was your aim point? The tree-line? Lol
Ha! No not that bad - we were still on ret - just. James
Excellent shooting, I’m interested in the fx impact
i shot one today at 125 21.5 mils of hold over !
Can you do 100 yards with a Stoeger x20 s2 ?
...very good description. Cheers
You forgot about duck and goose eggs.
Great shooting, TRY AND DO THAT WITH MY BSA lightening xl se 😂
Challenge accepted! James
ReplicaReviews just don’t use JSB exact. Just bought some and useless. Maybe they are the wrong size for my 1.77. Size 4,52. So will stick with my H&N baracuda hunter extreme
ReplicaReviews I’ve subbed as well, so will check other videos 👍🏻
nothing wrong with your rifle .. train yourself ..
The condition here in India is a little better at 15 ftpound legal limit
Great shooting and I respect that, however I felt that you guys are focused on your achievements. It would be really cool if you showed a little humility and a bit of coaching 😊. Great shooting all the same.
to be fair this was a test of our skill at the time so the reactions you had were because we had achieved something. i'm working on a video at the moment; just waiting for the weather to clear, that will show how to achieve this kind of thing. the issue i face is i get comments on the long range videos slamming me - for safety and "ethical" issues that i apparently raise, so to instruct people to maybe shoot beyond their abilities may just invite more hassle. as i say though - it is something i'm looking into. james
Try a humming bird egg at 100 yds
.177 right?
Correct
@@ReplicaReviews Seemed too fast for a .22
@@ReplicaReviews Good shooting mate!

i have shot at 150 yard. as an x solder it is quit possible & it is wrong of you to suggest it is not , just because you cant do it.
ok good video
i have almost same video not good like this but still
hi, i've taken a look at your channel and i don't think i've copied you, what i have done vs what you have done is two very different things....
ReplicaReviews i didint mean that u would have copied.
