One of the best games of the year. Also try Cascadero! There is no luck and it gave me the same level of satisfaction, even higher because you can calculate everything and be really mean! Great review, thank you.
@@paulmorave1518 It'll end up being yet another Knizia I add to my growing collection no doubt! Heard nothing but great things. Thanks for checking the video out mate appreciate it!
As a huge Knizia fan, I thought maybe I had enough of his tile layers and I could pass on what looked to be a pretty but maybe unnecessary game. Unfortunately your review makes me realize I need to buy still one more Knizia tile layer. Thanks for the enthusiasm-it’s clear how you feel about this, and you clearly like and play other Knizia titles. This was a really helpful video. I’ll have to check out more of your content.
Thank you, that's very kind! Appreciate you checking out the video and even more so for hanging around for our other content! It's lighter in many ways than his other works, but for me, that's a positive as I can get it to the table more, with a wider array of people.
Interesting, are there distinct paths to victory or like perhaps a game of Go, is it more tactical based on how the board develops? Do you think the player interaction in the Ireland game allows for a comeback mechanism if someone seems to be getting ahead?
Hey Steve! Yes there are a few paths to victory, you can focus on castle ownership, or instead creating contiguous tile groups, or instead run for objectives, or try to dominate the settlements, or a mix of these things! In general it is certainly a more tactical game than a strategic one, even on the Ireland map. If a player is absolutely battering everyone on the Ireland side, that's the groups fault as the objectives are public. The catch up would be to try and dominate the castles if you've fallen behind on the objectives, as it's not possible to do EVERYTHING, so if you recognise where you can catch up, the opportunity is probably there.
Despite the massive Essen haul, we played this and kinda stopped working through the rest of the pile of shame. It's so slick and quick - we are very very impressed :)
Hey Board Game Paul! It's a tremendous game and I'm glad you feel the same! FYI we set up a demo 3 player game for the purpose of the video, not a 2 player one, but thanks for the feedback.
Great game, great video!! Do you think it’s worth getting the KS version for an extra 10-15€/£ not so much for the cloth bags and boxes but to get the thicker tiles? Or the retail ones are just good enough?
Hey Julien! I can't speak to the retail edition as I haven't seen it. For me the extra £15 is negligible for a game I'm likely to play a lot, so I'd go for the thicker tiles. Is it necessary? I don't know, but why not, unless your budget is tight.
Thanks for the shout out guys, I really appreciate all your comments! Great overview, review and recommendations. Seal of Excellence 🙌 woohoo
Max, the design is AMAZING, and the pieces are beautiful. Bravo

Great review, thank you.
Cascadero was one I was DYING to play but it never happened! Maybe I will get the chance early next year
Play it on the farmer side! My two cents.
Noted!
Cascadero's an awesome game, this looks great as well, nice review, thanks

Great video guys! Wish I had hit that Kickstarter now!!
Thank you so much!
Great presentation of the game by the way!
Thank you! This game deserves it.

In another hot year of releases this is certainly a strong contender for game of the year! No spoilers from me though 😃
We'll see where it shakes out when the end of year season hits! It's an absolute slam dunk though, no doubt about that
Hi! You think its a good game for 2 players only? Just me and my spouse most of the time
Hi Ivan! Thanks for checking out our video! Yes, the game scales for 2 players, blocking part of the map to make it smaller. Cheers, Matt
Hey Ivan! It's not the best player count for it in my opinion, but it works great
1 like=1 pushups
LET'S GO
