Thanks for a nice, clear and thorough review - I am really glad you received it so well. As for your (minor) complaints, there are solutions in the game for both, actually :-)
    1. You don't actually shuffle the market cards when setting up the market. You place the most valuable, and expensive ones, on the top (page 4).
    2. If you don't like discarding cards, play with the included Trading optional rule (page 10). It lets you convert unused resources into coins that you can trade with, later on.
Sorry for pointing it out, don't want to come across nitpicking or anything, but these small things might help you have even more fun with the game in the future.
    Thanks again!

Thank you Ole! Appreciate you watching it and coming here to clarify for us, super kind of you, glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding point 1, that makes sense in terms of points incentive, clarity and then making the rest of the game flow. For point 2, we have indeed played with that variant rule, which is great, but doesn't help if you have a hand of cards that aren't resources, but aren't valuable during that turn (it happens) - it's probably more endemic of deck builders in general, or my poor deckbuilding lol.
No apology needed! I've pinned your comment for clarity so others can see. To be clear, we LOVE the game and think it's amazing, I think I enjoy it even more than Matt, but for our SoE we both have to agree to give it, we might change that in future, but it is what it is for now. Thanks again so much for taking the time to check out the video!

20:43 A point of clarification - you do not shuffle the market decks. The most expensive cards go on top so someone has to pay culture to invent them, and then they get cheaper after that. It's a speed bump that rewards innovation but allows for economic recovery for other players.

Hey! Thanks for this, this was already clarified in an above pinned comment by designer Ole Steiness. Appreciate you checking it out!

Really good review on a game I only heard about via your magazine programme I watched yesterday. Before I pull the trigger on a pre-order, I have a few questions:
How is the replayability of the game? And, I know you mentioned it, in terms of higher player-count, but is two players too small a dynamic for the game to be exciting? Oh, and in terms of expansions, which I think were also mentioned, do you know anything more on this?
Thanks again, and I feel a new game obsession coming on!

Hey Derek! Thank you so much for checking out the review after the magazine, appreciate that and I'm super glad you enjoyed it. I think it has pretty good replayability mostly as each faction is slightly asymmetric, so given the learning curve with each you have at least a couple of plays with each.
I don't think it's a good two player game, I'd play something else at two. This game is best at three or four, preferably four.
I really enjoy the game and trying out different approaches to the deck building and civ card combos. The first expansion I know adds a whole waterfaring element and additional board, aside from that I don't know much as it's not been officially announced yet. I hope this helps mate!

Looks like it plays along the lines of Gingkopolis, a little less crunchy, but with higher production.

It's a corker Steve, worth a crack if you get a chance to play it! I've not played Gingkopolis

Ginkgopolis is a 10 for me. This feels a little similar, but the deckbuilding feels pretty different from the drafting in this.

@@twentysides Great to hear you like it, thanks for responding to my post. It comes up in quite a few reviewers top 100 and some as their favourite game, so I bought it on a the chance at a reasonable price.

It makes sense why this grew on Rob so quickly. I think it'd probably work for me because I like what the game does, but it's easier to get to the table than most of the other things I like.
What you said about the aggressive faction makes sense, but you both like Root, so you know that if you don't require a militant faction that game wouldn't work properly. If I played a 3 player game of this, I would probably do the same thing as I do in all games of Root where I make sure there is a sufficent level of violence.

We can definitely understand it too! I really, really like Altay, probably slightly more than Matt does, and it's right up my street, great art, fun, but you definitely need to play with peeps willing to take the gloves off, and the red faction helps push that along nicely.

I really enjoy this game. If you like this style of area control but want more focus on interesting deck management, I highly recommend Tyrants of the Underdark.

It's a really cool game, we rate it highly but I'm surprised it's not had wider coverage.

Damn the game looks great but i do not like that open market setup at all! way to cluttered with cards around a small board.

Eh, it's more or less the same as any deck builder like Quest for El Dorado, Dominion, or Legendary
