Appreciate your video man. My buddy and I are new to the hobby and share similar interests. I own Nemesis and he owns Blood Rage. We both want to try Root/Oathsworn soon.
Great video and top ten! Definitely gonna look at your other videos and sub. We have very similar taste. I love Dead of Winter, Nemesis and Oathsworn. I really need to try Root, Final Girl and The Thing. Can I ask at what player counts you have played The Thing? I can rarely collect more than 5 players at once. Thanks!
Oh wow that is similar taste haha what other games do you like? Might be able to add some to my list to try! It's always been when we have more players, around 5-6, sometimes more I think is where it shines!
@WoodyREC I would recommend Betrayal Legacy, Forgotten Waters and/or Freelancers. We also really enjoyed Descent: Legends at the dark, that plays similar to Mansions of Madness and a surprising variety of scenarios throughout the campaign. Good info on The Thing. I might have to wait on It for now. Again, big thanks!
I was back and forth between Nemisis and Aliens AGDITC. Grabbed Aliens and really enjoy it. Whole it is just more of a story playthough spacehulk, it's a blast with some nerd buds who get into character, lol. The wave mode is fun as well. And it is very soloable(?) which is big for me since I enjoy solo gaming a lot. I'll get Nemisis sometime because it sounds like Alien made into a perfect board game. Interested in Nemisis Retaliation this spring 2025 for sure.
What a great list. Playing off of your enjoyment Final Girl, have you heard or played Set a Watch? Its a pretty fun dice and card battler, fighting your way through waves or baddies while you and three other adventurers tend to the fire and try to survive the night
@ I enjoy the base game. There are a 2 or 3 expansions that give more characters and a merchant ability, but all boxes can be played by themselves so you have choices on which box you choose
Amazing list, I am subscribing for sure! 4 of your top 10 are in mine too. Plus, I am sure once I get Nemesis, I will love it. Would love to try out The Thing and give Dead of Winter another chance.
@WoodyREC Oathsworn, which is also my favourite game of all time, Mansions of Madness, Blood Rage and Final Girl. I really liked Root, but have only played it once, though I have the digital version now.
Enjoyed your list! Makes me want to knock off some games off of my shelf of shame. Lol. Ive had dead of winter forever and probably have only played it once. To be fair it was back several years and it was alot for me rule wise when i first got into the hobby. I need to give it a go again! The other two i need to get to the table are valeria card kingdoms and raiders of the north sea. Both games im sure i will love. I love champions of midgard with expansions for my viking themed game of choice right now.
Good video I'm fairly new to the hobbie here is my list 10:runescape kingdoms 9: stratego 8: cartographers heroes 7: Pan Am 6: Mr jack 5: dnd lords of waterdeep 4: king of tokyo 3: Jaipur 2: cthulhu death may die 1: Heroquest So why hero quest at number 1? Well because it's such a simple game to pick up and play and go on a dungeon adventure. Plus you can write your own story in it for your friends to play through. Yes it's a bit dated by modern standards but who cares it's fun. Plus it's the one that got me into the hobby. Eric Lang has made some great games
Heroquest is a great shout and could have easily been on my list (and probably should have!) It’s the first board game I ever played, and I have the up to date copy and expansions now! Love your list - I’d recommend trying out Oathsworn if you get a chance!
Great list! I’ve replaced Stretego with LotR Confrontation. It’s basically Stretego but with only 9 characters played per side all having cool themed powers per unit. Worth the look.
I don't like to rely on an app for any boardgame. Good list though. Purely for versatility, ie you can range your game from a single duel dogfight to an armada against armada battle, Star Wars X-Wing miniatures wins for me. I love Star Wars Rebellion, Scythe, GOT and Heat, but Talisman comes out more than anything. Even though it lasts 5 hours minimum Talisman is the shiz.
My Top-10 Board Games of All Time 😉 10. Nemesis 10* Nemesis: Lockdown 9.
I'll go mostly "Old-school/Old-guy" for 2pl and multiplayer games. Risk , Monopoly, Clue , Stratego, of course Squad leader w/ the Cross of Iron expansion, Gettysburg, Tactics II ,Wizards Quest, -all Avalon Hill games Divine Right (TSR now re-released by Munro Games) , Fortress America (Milton Bradley) Dawn of the Zeds, and War of the Ring . OK 12, LOL , 2-3 of those could be rather "expensive" and/or hard to find.
I own nemesis but I hate setting it up on my dinner table. Takes so long by the time I’m done setting it up wife is already bored and have to beg her to play it 😅, I’ve only played it 3 times since I got it almost a year ago. Game is entertaining but for people that just don’t get board games is just too much. Wife says she prefers to play uno or guess who!!! 😂
Hey mate, just discovered your channel (maybe.. just maybe I clicked on it due to the Oathsworn thumbnail). Well, because Oathsworn is also my GOAT. My introduction the world of gaming and fantasy was via the Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf Gamebooks, and Oathsworn brought me full circle (while obviously being a lot more advanced) to the narration/combat format. Like you, I cannot fault this game. Every facet is superbly realised: the immersive setting, art, writing, city phase, battle mechanics, minis. Just writing about it here makes me crave playing it and I dearly hope there is supplemental material.
Nice to hear from someone else as passionate about the game! Clearly a project done with love and attention, some of my favourite mechanics in a board game and gorgeous art, writing and story as you say!
10:24 - The anti-board game youtuber then. “Hey guys, THIS KICKSTARTER IS AMAZING. I haven’t played it, given that it doen’st even have a rulebook, but LOOKS SO F#$&ING COOL!!!”
Valeria, Blood Rage and Runescape Kingdoms Shadow of Elvarg - are your best man(this opinion) - pretty sweet list though - history is awesome but the negatives in it are sometimes more than to fathom
Woody, interesting, but perhaps narrow list. What about: 'Star Wars Rebellion', 'Hellenica', 'Axis & Allies', 'Twilight Imperium IV', 'Assassin's Creed', 'Fortress Europa', 'Advanced European Theatre of Operations', 'The Dark Summer', 'A Distant Plain', 'Dark Ages', 'Britannia', 'The Conquistadors' ... I own them all, plus a stack more. A top 10 of ALL time list is a big call and, as you can see from my choices, if I include 'Root', 'Funny Girl' and 'Skyrim: the boardgame', there is a universe of options. I can also see from comments below that my list could include a great many more choices. Thanks nevertheless for prompting a think about what would make a top 10 list. Keep posting.

@@mckeoncrawford9262 a lot of similarities! If you can get around to Oathsworn it’s 100% worth it, just quite the investment!

Nice list! You should try Arkham Horror: LCG
That’s a great shout, I’ve looked at that game so many times, LCG definitely tempting!
I think you would like Machina Arcana. It’s a SteamPunk, LoveCraft, Horror.
I don't own all the games from the list, but from the ones I own they are also my top boardgames! Love the list!

Have you played Battlestar Galactica? It looks like something, that you would like
I have seen this one before not had a chance to play it, will make sure I do now, appreciate the suggestion!
hard to find nowadays. Unfathomable is an arkham styled reskin thats oretty good
Unfathomable has been one I’ve been eyeing for a little while, looks right up my alley - great shout!
@@mccallosone4903 Unfathomable is a fine game. Imo during the redesign it lost the epicness of BSG.

Dead of Winter is amazing.
I like a lot of what you do. One game I love that’s missing from your list is Ankh: gods of Egypt!
Inis is more straightforward in my opinion, blood rage feels way more chaotic and asymmetric ( also more fun for me)
