I had a "disciplinary meeting" dropped on my head at my theater job of four years after I and a small group of veteran employees were overheard complaining that we were all passed up for a supervisor position. They didn't interview a single one of us and instead hired some random person who had zero experience working in a movie theater. So later that week, I put in my two weeks notice. The same manager who handled the discipline meeting called me back again to beg me to stay, saying they'd match whatever I was making at my new job. The look on his face when I told him I didn't have another job lined up and planned to job hunt while unemployed still makes me smile thinking back on it. 😊
Unfortunately in Emily's case she would have to sue her employer to have her hours and pay corrected since while the laws exist the UK doesn't have a government agency the deals in this type of issue. In the US its called the labor relations board.
@@cpK054L depending on the contract, you could work 50 hours a week and not get OT pay because your contract states OT AFTER 50 hours. I got yelled at for working an extra 2 hours because my replacement never showed and the supervisors couldn't find one. When they did, I got a "verbal warning" (I was yelled at in front of customers) for attempting to work overtime. I was given 25 hrs a week at most and OT only kicked in at 35 of part-time and 40 for full-time. I brought it up the next day and showed the records of me trying to call the department (amusement park and I worked Foods) to see where this promised replacement was as they had told me it would be 15 mins. They had nothing to say. This was the same company that refused my request to go to my uncle's funeral because I hadn't put in a proper 2 week notice and "your family should plan these things better". And had my glasses ripped off because "sunglasses and transition lenses are not permitted inside".
@@matts9371 I don't know of your labor laws... But regular employment is 40 hours per week (8 hours per day x 5 days) The excess of 50 hours of overtime is a time and a half for regular days and double on weekends. And more if you exceed the weekend's 8-hour workday. I'm just assuming you worked 15 hours daily for 6 days a week. Daily wage would be: 8 hours + (1.5 x 7 hours) = 8 + (1.5 x 7) = 8 + 10.5 = 18.5 hours x Hourly Rate As for the Sunday rate, it could be a time and a half, or double rate for the first 8 hours; and more for the last 7 hours. Since you mentioned DOUBLE, then your Sunday's wage is about 30 hours worth. It should be more for the next 7 hours of overtime. So my basic computation is: 18.5 hours X 5 days PLUS 30 hours of Sunday = (18.5 x 5) + 30 = 92.5 + 30 = 112.5 hours x Hourly Rate So your 90 hours of work would reflect a 112.5 hours of wage per week. (It should be more if the last 7 Sunday hours reflected more wage if it's more than just double rate) That's almost 3 times the weekly wage for more than double the time you put in.
80 hours workweek??? That's 16 hours per day for five days!!! (8am to 12 midnight) Only 8 hours left for sleep, eat and prepare for work, commute both ways, and house chores. =============== OR work for 13 hours 20 minutes per day for 6 days (8am to 9:20pm)
They have to email you officially. As soon as she says disciplinary meeting I’d be like “thank-you, but please email me this and we can reschedule the meeting for when you’ve gone through the proper channels”.
Anything over 40 hours is overtime and they have to pay time and a half. Does this company just hate money? Most jobs at this level will forcibly kick you out the door if you hit 30 hours because they don't even want to risk having to pay overtime
So when will we have the crossover event where Emily and Veronica meet?
Fr, it's the colab we have all been waiting for
thats her wife XD
Haha, cat fight 😂

Just walk out and speak to HR - don't even justify a response.
She's working at a pub which usually means there is no HR.
HR protects the employer, not the employee

Yes they do it is called an employment tribunal, they go thru that and a lawsuit to the old Bailey
E.e.o.c actually
That manager better be authorizing 40 hrs of overtime if she is asking for others to work 80 hrs a week.
80 hours is considered double time in the US for 20 of those hours, GET THAT GREEN
Oh, if only.
I suspect the manager is NOT paying overtime rates
@@phastinemoon then i guess you need to learn about Labor boards

Overtime? More like overkill!
80 hours isn’t full time, that’s double time.
I had a job where I averaged almost 90 hours per week for 9 months. The only reason I did that was because they agreed to pay double time on Sundays.
